Destiny 2

Up until about 740, just do every activity that gives you a Powerful reward that you have time for. Once you hit 740, you hit a point where most powerful rewards will only be +1 light, so they don't do a whole lot for you. At that point, focus on the new stuff for the current season (weekly quests for Benedict, Menagerie, new raid). Those activities will give you rewards that are about +5 light or more. If you finish all that stuff, work on activities from the Black Armory season. They will be +3-4 light upgrades.

The main point here is that not all powerful rewards are equal. In general, the harder and newer the activity, the higher the level of reward.

Edit: Forgot to mention, your drops are based on your maximum equippable light level from your inventory, not just what you are wearing. Keep your highest level stuff in your inventory even if it sucks.

Thanks for the Edit, that is something I did not know!

Not impressed with some of the Lumina quest steps, like Strength in Numbers. Even if you're a beast of intercepting Invaders (I'm not) and you're using Rose...this is going to take forever.

We did the entire thing in a few hours. You only need to kill one invader before they kill anyone for that step. The only tedious step was doing the activities with Rose equipped. We ended up just spam running Lake of Shadows since it was worth 12% per run.

Yup, did Lake of Shadows streak last night.

Hopefully I'll get this Invader thing done in a relatively timely fashion. I partially misunderstood.

Do I have to use Rose to hit the Invader? Or at least a hand cannon?

Crucible for the final blows guardian step...Rose or any hand cannon?

Nope. Just kill the invader with whatever you want. Be a jerk and camp heavy or just super the guy if you want. The only thing that matters is that you have to kill the invader before he kills anyone on your team.

Crucible part is any hc, and anyone using a hc on your team will count for your progress.

The only annoyingly lengthy part was the "do activities" section, IMO. Crucible was a game and a half, gambit was one game, making orbs.. Huckleberry or Recluse on mars.

How many Lake of Shadows runs did we do, bpizzle1, 7? 9? Luckily they were 4-5 minutes each.

Uhh I guess we had to do 9 since they were 12% each.

I ran menagerie with 2 other people that had rose equipped and it was 25% per run. With only 2 people with rose it was 12-13% I havent started the next step yet.

And within 10 seconds. This is frustrating.

EDIT: Probably wasted an hour so far on this. I hate these parts of these quests where it's about random luck and being at the mercy of others. I would have had it by now were it not for that 10 second rule.

Getting invaders quickly kinda comes down to experience with the spawns, and knowing where they'll be based on where the enemies and your teammates are. Some maps are easier than others. I always run my Bite of the Fox in Gambit so I suggest a sniper as its what I've found to be the quickest way to deal with them. Keep at it!

I Saved rockets with Trust, and looked for the spawn pointon invader announcement, and fired a rocket at him the instant I saw him. Got it on the second match. I wasn't very helpful to the team, but I spent less than a half hour on it. I'm not good with 150s, so I am trash with Rose/Lumina so far. Seen some streamers go crazy with it, but they're good period. Back to the Revoker/Recluse slog. Lost all my points last night. MM hates me so bad, but I'm not l33t enough to be on anyone's team. They even had me losing games where I did well:mad: This is going to suck bad...

Truth is probably my best shot at it. It's either that or me getting lucky running fast with my Stomp EEs with Ace or my masterworks Hammerhead.

Invariably I still find that Ace is my favorite HC because of the explosive damage and range. Thorn comes close but it's still about Ace for me on HCs.

Trust... that's a pretty nifty HC. I think I have a god roll one or real close to it. It's going to stay in my rotation for sure and ultimately get the Masterwork treatment.

The problem is...and what I hate about some of the steps in some of these quests Bungie comes up with...is it puts me at the mercy of others and frankly blind luck. That sucks. It's not fun. At least for me.

Two and half hours down the toilet last night. Not going to throw too much more time at it during the course of the weekend. Life is too short. It's stupid.

This. So much this:cry:

Part of me wishes the last Strike for Lumina wasn't a normal difficulty strike. The Chasm of Screams for Thorn was truly a challenge and that made the reward that much better. Quickly shooting 11 crystals then just rushing through the strike for Lumina wasn't much of an experience and what makes these Exotic quests memorable.

Fair enough although it's probably a little make up for things like this stupid Invader requirement.

I'm telling ya! You always know when the will be an invade (bar at the top) so post up in a spot where you can see the sides where your teammates and enemies aren't. Either a sniper or a one shot super like blade barrage will get it done quick. It's all about proper positioning for the invade to catch him off guard.

So that was you... I hate you :p

Funny thing is, I'm a fairly good invader, so I don't do allot of defending against them. I didn't know how long that would take but I got it done my second match in. I actually got the medal two invasions in a row and then skipped an invasion and got it again after that. It's about positioning and timing. The first one came up beside where I was while I was in mid-super against the boss. I just took care of him and went back to what I was doing.

I just got it done finally!

I wish I could have recorded this. He died half a second before I did. I hit him with blade barrage and both of us were essentially in mid-flight. He died and then I died and if it was even one second...

I was a soft jump and he was flying over me and it came down to that. I also had a sniper on me so I was rolling with all the advice. Whew!

I was having trouble with the invader requirement until I switched to truth. I think I earned that medal 3x that game after the switch.

Digging Lumina. It's the "anti Thorn." Noble rounds are a neat concept. I'm going to be using this HC quite a bit.

Holy moley - I finally got that stupid ass osprey. My goal on hold from May 7th (stared April 2) is finally checked off. About fifteen runs, today was with a LFG guy from last night. Sadly I got it, but not him. Did a four more rounds.. Wardcliff helped knock down the turn around time... but he left for the Truth quest.

Strange Terrain - you are not here for a good time, but a long time.

Wow.. a straight up rag-tag group of people on north Mars side.. started with me and another dude and level 1.. more joined in.. no major cohesion.. but boom - ended with Ikelos Sniper on my first run. Thanks SHANK shell!

I got the invader step done first invader. I had a loaded hammerhead and the invader popped out right in front of me, stupid lucky on that one. Lumina is ok, digging Rose quite a bit. Also picked up osprey during the quest. Jumped back into Lake of Shadows afterward, farmed ~500 tokens and finally got me one of those 150rpm/spike grenade launchers.

I, too, have noticed an increased in way Away From Keyboard...griefers or something. I feel like every other Gambit and Crucible match now I'm seeing what becomes an essentially a handicap match. I don't get it. What's the point?

Had my first AFK guy in a Gambit match yesterday and we still managed the win. Annoyed me and I made sure our team all reported him. As for why they're doing it, its just farming Infamy/Runes/Drops, etc.. Basically anything you can get from playing they're getting without actually playing.

Last day to farm any Menagerie rolls you may want. I'm definitely going to be doing a few runs this evening, I think.

Edit:

Also, PSA, if you are planning on upgrading to one of the new Ryzen cpus, D2 is currently broken on them and will not launch at all. Might want to give it a few days before you get your new build together haha.

I need to look into how that works in Destiny.

I have to give credit here: In Division it's super simple (one of the very few things about this game's setup that is)... you vote to kick, get the slot free, get a new player in there if matchmaking is on. Does Destiny have that sort of setup? If it doesn't...it needs it.

You can't kick them, no, but reporting them specifically for being AFK is pretty simple. In the Roster screen just click their name and you'll have the option.

So, I want to use Destiny 2 in our motherboard review testing, but FRAPS hasn't been updated in several years and I can't seem to make it work for benchmarking in the latest build of Windows 10. (1903). Does anyone else have any suggestions for measuring performance in this game beyond just displaying the FPS counter in the corner?

Destiny 2 is notorious for blocking anything that interferes with the game such as overlays or game capture in OBS. One of those rare games where you're forced to use Display Capture mode. I'm not really sure how you would go about that beyond manually interpreting the FPS you see and trying to be accurate about it.

Also I wouldn't jump on any motherboard reviews with Ryzen 3000 just yet. Doesn't seem like Destiny 2 runs at all on them for right now.

Interesting. I had actually tried to run the game on my Ryzen 3000 test setup for the 3900X review and couldn't run it. I thought that there was something screwy with my installation. I actually dropped the test from the final review because it wouldn't run on the one system I needed it to.

Man, I had completely forgotten about your new site when I was reading Ryzen 3000 reviews...heading over there now, and I'm definitely bookmarking it for the future haha. Hope your ears survive the motherboard fans on your x570 testing!

The fan wasn't actually that bad. It's horrendous on startup but then calms down. During actual stress testing it rarely kicked on and when it did, it was fairly quiet. It never ramped up to full speed.

Don't know if anyone saw the detail for Moments of Triumph coming up.

https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/47975

Detail for what all the listed triumphs require:

I think looking at that list, I'll need "The Vault" (which is still hidden) and Prime Fashion (still need a Notorious helmet) then whatever the Solstice of Heroes Triumphs require. Looking pretty good so far.

Only one I'm worried about is Exotic Arsenal: Complete all Exotic Armory Triumphs. If I need 1K i'm going to be upset.

BTW, we've actually contacted AMD on this issue to see what they say.
