Destiny 2

Good to know.

Whisper of the Worm with its catalyst is still the beast it always was. The difference is that you no longer have unlimited ammunition. However, in most cases you probably never fired more than 18 shots during most boss encounters making it viable for those encounters, albeit without much margin for error. In that way, its become like every other power weapon. It isn't going to be any different than using a grenade launcher, or rocket launcher against a boss where you have few shots and may run out of ammunition during the encounter.

O i'm sure, it just that I moved to DARCI pretty quickly as a Warlock main who is usually running Lunafactions. With its faster fire rate and damage per shot, it makes more sense since I no longer have the option for unlimited ammo. Either way, its going to be one or the other for that encounter.

They need to completely rework Whisper after the nerf, imo. I get why it needed to be changed, but it's exotic perk can be completely replaced by a warlock with Lunas or any random titan using rally barricade. I think changing it to something like "hitting 3 precision shots in rapid succession reloads the gun from the magazine AND increases damage done...effect lasts until you miss a weak spot" would be a good idea. It's a minor change that would make the gun viable in raids again.

Your missing the point of the nerf. It was changed because Bungie didn't want it to seem like a requirement to do the raids. They wanted us to use different things. Making it more viable than it is now after the changes goes against what they tried to accomplish.

Oh, I know that's why they changed it. What I'm saying is it went from a requirement to not used at all. There's got to be a medium in there where it's an option because realistically, it's just not worth using anymore in a raid if you have a DARCI or a spike grenade GL.

Most of the time, I still use machine guns in boss fights. I'm quite fond of 21% Delirium with a boss spec mod on it for this purpose. I have the versatility for add clear and I can do decent enough damage to the boss. I do occasionally use a spike grenade launcher, but it depends on the fight. I don't use heavy sniper rifles for anything other than Fallen walker tanks or mini-boss types.

You're right, the versatility of MG's is what has kept me using them since Thunderlord was released but man, the current shift to a grenade launcher meta is pretty great. The pure damage output is incredible, especially when stacking buffs. I'd say for current end game activities, its almost required to quickly burn bosses without having to multi-phase.

Or your raid team can use six Outbreak Perfected pulse rifles. You can one phase a bunch of the bosses doing that.

Finished the Hush quest last night, around 2:30. Didn't even try it, just quit and went to sleep lol. Now, time to finish the Reckoner ( and maybe get lucky and get Recluse/Luna's Howl:rolleyes:). Need like 30 snipes and a ton of Glory...glad I got the Wendigo first, that thing is great. Hush, whatever. Reckoner looks cool, but I'm not a PvP head so I expect not to be too impressed.

Well, apparently I've won the amount of Crucible matches I need for Recluse.....I guess I should start grinding to fabled.

That's pretty much how it went for me when I got Outbreak Perfected. It was 4:00AM and I had to be up for work in 4 hours. So I shot one or two things on Mars and logged out.

Farmed strikes all weekend for a outrageous fortune with spikes. Spent hours running strikes, I think mostly Lake of Shadows. Not a single GL. I do have windego, but really would not like to have to gather orbs to make the GL worth it. Would rather have a "set it and forget it."

I grabbed the Wendigo GL3 this weekend. I've got all three aggressive frame launchers with spike grenades. Swarm of the Raven, Outrageous Fortune and the Acantha-D. That way I have one for each singe. However, I just have spike grenades and that's about it for good perks. I think my Acantha-D has snapshot sights and rampage which has the best perks I've got to work with thus far.

I do have a OF in the vault without spikes. Was kinda kicking myself for taking so long to realize how good they are, and assuming out of all that I've had.....I've probably dismantled a good roll and not even known it.

Rolled a "god roll" Trust out of the Menagerie. I've always liked that gun but this one takes the cake. Rampage and Outlaw. I'll be Masterworking this one.

Back to the discussion of bows for a moment: You all owe it to yourselves to get Wish-Ender if you haven't already. Even if you hate bows this one might change your mind. It's that good IMO.

I didn't. I tried that for 30 seconds grinding for Hush and hated it so I went back to Le Monarque. Hush on the other hand now that I have it, is the only bow I enjoy using. Its FAST, which I can't say about any other one.

Le Monarque is another good one. Wish-Ender blows me away on power and damage. Spiteful Fang can be pretty good, too. Subtle Calamity usually is my go-to for bows more often than not.

Don't know if I'll ever get Hush. We'll see.

A grenade launcher without spike grenades on it isn't really all that useful. That perk makes all the difference. It was the same for me. I used to get the grenade launchers all the time before they got buffed. I probably had god rolls on all of them and broke them down because they just weren't worth using and they took up too much space in the vault.

I've had one of those Trust hand cannons for awhile. I just don't care for the 180's at all. The only possible exception is Malfeasance. As for the Wish Ender, you need it to get the corrupted eggs in the Dreaming City and your Cursebreaker title. However, the bow by itself is pretty under whelming. It's powerful, but its slow as hell. So slow as to be considered a novelty as far as I'm concerned. It makes up for it against Taken, but that's it. I wouldn't use it for anything else. Its power doesn't make up for the slow draw speed anywhere else.

Lemonarque is slow as hell too, but its an automatic weapon compared to Wish Ender. Honestly, you need to get a good Spiteful Fang with a draw time below 640. The Vow and a good Arsenic Bite works well too. The old Arsenic Bite's that didn't have random rolls were about perfect. The only roll that changed was the masterwork. If you got one with a draw time masterwork you were golden. Those had Rampage and Archer's Tempo. They could also select explosive head over Archer's Tempo or Rampage. I can't remember which. With Rampage, if you could land your shots it was a beast. You can do 30k+ hits with it and drop any red bar in one hit. Arsenic Bite can drop its draw time all the way to 600. Sublte Calamity hits harder in its default form, but the trick is finding one without an awful draw time. Any below 700 are pretty good. The 700+ draw times of any bow suck.

Le Monarque is another good one. Wish-Ender blows me away on power and damage. Spiteful Fang can be pretty good, too. Subtle Calamity usually is my go-to for bows more often than not.

Le Monarque is good because the poison cloud is good for add clear and it hits fairly hard. Its slow though. Wish Ender sucks ass. I'm sorry, but that 900 draw time isn't made up for by power unless your fighting Taken and even that's debatable. Spiteful Fang can be awesome if you get the right perks and configuration. Subtle Calamity is the same way. Although, its always a bit on the slow side no matter what you do. A good one can be brought down to about 640 where the Arsenic Bite starts. I'm not a big fan of bows either so getting Hush may not be something I'm willing to suffer through.

The spike grenade perk is only like a 12% buff. So it would only take it from godlike to less than godlike. Well, apparently it's a 22% buff for headshots on raid bosses too. But still puts it ahead of MANY other weapons.

22% is pretty massive. That's also going to be per shot. It adds up.

Well, ya, but even without that it still 1 phases the new raid boss. Not to say it's not nice, but it doesn't go from the best weapon in the game to useless. Outside of that ONE scenario it's 12%.

I do see it's worth, I'm not saying otherwise. It is THE thing I'm farming for now. Probably will start actually unlocking the chalice stuff too.

Comp is so frustrating lol. I either keep getting stuck with teammates that have terrible K/Ds (like 0.5 or worse), or I go up against a team that has one guy that's a crucible god and carries the enemy team. Basically, I end up winning one or two in a row then drop one or two in a row. That leads to basically no progress for an entire night of pvp. At this point, comp feels almost entirely based on luck unless you are good enough to hard carry (which I'm not).

Read this in a PC Gamer interview today:

"We want to pick a corner and stand on it. Let's not worry about Joe Walmart, like, someone who buys GTA and one other game. We don't want to be that one other game. That person doesn't want Destiny. They're not going to marry Destiny the way we want players to marry it, you know?"

Almost brought a tear to my eye....

This, is a developer that will continue to get my money!!

Facts. Hush is BY FAR the best bow in the game, IMO. I hate bows in general, but I can see pulling Hush out for bounties and certain other situations. Now that I have Hush, all my other bows are in the Vault for the forseeable future.

Amen. If I can't get close to 2100 while grinding for Revoker, I'm probably giving up on The Recluse.

I hope they stick with the Revoker model for glory for future pinnacle weapons. The current state of comp is awful to have a rank requirement. I consider myself competent at crucible (generally somewhere near 2.0 KD these days), but my personal skill almost has nothing to do with my glory rank right now because of the reasons I mentioned before. I'm not good enough to carry a team of 0.5 KD guys, and I'm not good enough to beat a team with a guy hard carrying at 9.0 KD. I just need to find a team of people of similar skill, and I think 2100 would be easy.

Who else is excited to see how this new idea of a support gun is going to work out? Love the idea so let's see how it pans out.

I’m just watching CB play around with it now. A buffed arbalest 1-shot body kills at range

I miss having groups that organized.

*edit* wait I wrote all this then realized.. didn't you already join the small discord i'm in? The names being different confused me. ..or was that another guy.

When decided I wanted to get into raids I joined a group on /r/DestinySherpa so I could learn them in a good environment. You had to join the sherpa's discord and I just never left. Ended up just getting into a regular group that raids every tuesday and now, we'll just do a Heroic Menagerie after the raids on our 3 characters.

Now, i'm part of a much smaller discord with a couple guys that play somewhat regularly. We'd love to get a group to raid somewhat regularly later in the week/weekend. A couple guys from here already joined so by all means, if you're looking for other people to play with, please join up. Myself and one other guy who's not on here are usually on every night. https://discord.gg/XRpyVK (if that link expires, just PM me)

Once we get enough people online regularly, keep an eye on the #raid channel and we'll organize one.

I am in the discord, but I never see any raid posts.

Just got home from a three day trip to the panhandle.. woohoo! Strange Terrain is up! It's my time to grind!

I've been slowed to a crawl at 705-710 range, any ideas on pushing that light up to 750?

I've been making good progress on the golds however ;)

The weekly and daily bounties/quests. If you're not in a clan join one. Free weekly powerful gear for completion of clan activities even if you didnt participate in them.

Up until about 740, just do every activity that gives you a Powerful reward that you have time for. Once you hit 740, you hit a point where most powerful rewards will only be +1 light, so they don't do a whole lot for you. At that point, focus on the new stuff for the current season (weekly quests for Benedict, Menagerie, new raid). Those activities will give you rewards that are about +5 light or more. If you finish all that stuff, work on activities from the Black Armory season. They will be +3-4 light upgrades.

The main point here is that not all powerful rewards are equal. In general, the harder and newer the activity, the higher the level of reward.

Edit: Forgot to mention, your drops are based on your maximum equippable light level from your inventory, not just what you are wearing. Keep your highest level stuff in your inventory even if it sucks.
