I have a Sennheiser HD6XX and a Magni 3.

I plugged in my Magni 3 RCA out to 3.5mm Maximus Hero VIII motherboard rear green speaker port.

What am I doing wrong?

My topping D10 is coming soon, but I really can't wait. HELP!

You're supposed to plug the RCA in to the motherboard, not out.

Looks like you only need to enjoy your gear now!
I've got the same HD6XX and magni 3 (with a Schiit Bifrost dac) and I love the sound! (when not using my speakers)

Man it sounds so good thru the motherboard already. Would a dac really make a big difference?

Hard to say, some motherboard will have better implementation then others.
But I'd bet you'll notice some improvement with the dac. If you have a cheaper motherboard it may be a revelation! Or it might just be a small noticeable improvement with a higher end mobo.

Only if you listen to super high bitrate uncompressed music files would a DAC make a noticeable difference. For gaming, streaming, etc., unless you are hearing interference from components in the form of background noise/hiss, a DAC would make no difference to sound quality.

Absolutely. I also run a bitfrost mimby (multi bit dac) with a magni 3 with sennheiser hd650’s.

I heard a noticeable difference moving from the mobo dac. Most notably a silent sound floor, and more depth and separation in music. For purely gaming, I doubt anyone would care.

But purely for gaming, idk why someone would spend the money on a decent HiFi headphone setup.

I'm still a noob. But the 8d music sounds real good on YouTube. What platform do you use to listen to hq music? Tidal premium?

Using Tidal hifi myself, used Deezer lossless too. Both sounds great and imho are worth it over the cheaper lossy option.

Tidal still has quite limited selection of music, sadly. It has improved over the years but almost every week I run into something that is not found on Tidal.
