Rebel Galaxy: Outlaw

lol except you dont have to buy epic's launcher. youre guy's reasons/arguments are borderline retarded....

It's EXACTLY how people first reacted to Steam when Half Life 2 was a Steam exclusive. I am all for Epic offering an alternative that gives devs a much larger cut and will support the developers accordingly.

it totally was. i wonder how many werent around back then...

youre guy's reasons/arguments are borderline retarded..

Some people prefer CVS over Walgreens. Or Costco over Sam's Club. Or Amazon over iTunes or Google Play. Or Whole Foods over Sprouts. Why is preferring Steam to any other digital distribution platform so difficult to grasp for you? People balked over paying for CBS All Access to watch Star Trek Discovery and no one's calling them retarded.

I didn't call anyone retarded I said the reasons/arguments were and your argument about store doesn't make sense. "I prefer to shop here bought ended shopping over there anyways" ?!?!

Epic could handle a lot of their deals better, but I definitely remember the furor over Steam early on. Not an entirely comparable situation though.

There is a huge difference between "I prefer Steam over EGS and will wait for it there" and "spam every single thread related to an EGS title and never shut the fuck up until the ONLY conversation revolves around this bullshit". People tend to do the later, a lot. There are definitely times to create a shit storm when it comes to how Epic (and certain studios) handle these deals, but this really isn't one. The EGS exclusivity was announced at the Game Awards. Last year. Its not like they sprung this on people at the last minute. Its not a crowd funded title that promised a Steam release. Everything is pretty above board here.

nah the store analogy makes perfect sense.

I see almost every day. People prefer to shop at walmart over meijers.. go so far as to waiting a few days for us to get a delivery of the item they are looking for rather than going 1.5 miles down the road to meijers. People prefer what makes them comfortable or offers better value regardless of time.

too many launchers can get annoying, theres origin, steam, uplay, epic, all with their own achievements or reward systems or gimmicks.. if someone likes one platform over the other they should be allowed to use it with any game, i mean origin, and uplay should be offering games from other publishers if they were smart they could essentially be making money off other peoples work like steam, and now epic.

if someone likes one platform over the other they should be allowed to use it with any game,
you can add pretty much anything to steam and launch from there. as you just pointed out there have been many different launchers, several have disappeared, but people still use them. the outrage is silly.

No you can't. Many launchers now require you to launch the game from that particular launcher. You have to add the portal to steam, the game still needs to update using the other launcher, and you don't have the Steam mod community support. This also requires to have multiple launchers and you have to update them, which is extra software and overhead on your system. So there are many things wrong with your statement here. Plus it totally ignores the fact that exclusives are just dumb.

wasnt steam exclusive when it started? what is the big deal with another launcher? why are you guys so upset?

I never exempted Steam from the exclusive argument. My comment very specifically mentioned exclusives, period. The big deal with another launcher is having to have multiple launchers running, each wanting their own update schedules and more software and issues on the system. There is no reason why we should have to have a bunch of different launchers on the system. This is about consumer choice and consumer rights. The fact that we don't even actually own the rights to the game we purchase is already a problem, but the fact that now those rights are controlled by a number of different content containers (note they are content containers, not content distributors) is ridiculous. I don't exempt Steam from this either, but I have found a lot of value in using Steam, especially since it has pretty much been the standard for a long time now, so it is more or less the devil I live with.

We have already mentioned numerous times why we are upset, the fact that you can't grasp it and you are complaining so much about what other people think or say is pretty ludicrous honestly. Why do you care so much if people don't like Epic Game Store or people don't like exclusives? No one is arguing your right to use the Epic Game Store should be removed, why are you so passionately arguing against the freedom of choice for others?

Well for myself, its about having so much of my information spread across so many touch points that the Delta of being compromised is unacceptable. Beyond that, I don't care to install yet another launcher on my system*.

*I make room for killer titles and that I can't avoid all launchers, but if its just an exclusive for X months and then it'll be on a launcher I have, I'll wait.

Steam was a DRM platform at launch. A store wasn't added until later.

Beyond that, can we just shut the fuck up about EGS? Please? I'd like to go into these threads and read people's comments on the mother fucking game, not platform bullshit. Save it for threads where Epic and studios are actually pulling sleazy shit, not a game where exclusivity was announced seven damn months ago.

the reason is that there are so many different publishers.

yes, please but the game's not out so no real opinions yet...

the reason is that there are so many different publishers.

? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? There have always been many different publishers, so what is your point here? Different publishers has absolutely zero to do with stores and launchers. That literally didn't address anything, especially not your particular vehemence to comment on each and every person's post that even remotely mentioned EGS. Do you have stock in Epic or something? I don't get why you are so anti-choice for consumer?

ok launchers or front end or whatever the fuck you want to call them. my point is there have been many, still are many, so stop the fucking whining. if you want a game get it on what its available on. whats the big fucking deal?! and i have only been replying to quotes since i questioned it. why are you quoting/replying to me?! what with you vehemence?!

For what it is worth.. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is going to be DRM free. So you wont even need to run EGS prior to loading up RGO. It's simply the purchase and download platform for the game. In fact, I am fairly certain you will be able to uninstall EGS once the game is downloaded without issue.

Plus, as mentioned earlier, you can add RGO to Steam once it's downloaded.

Lol, the only one here that is actually whining is you. You are literally whining about people's opinions about the products they consume. Get ahold of yourself. What is the big deal? Why do you have to be so angry and use such language about other people's opinions and choices that have absolutely zero effect on you, lol. I mean seriously man, have a glass of scotch or something and calm down. The only one using vehemence is you.

If you actually go back and read my comments, I talked about my decision regarding the game. I didn't advocate anyone else to do anything. I even said I would likely get the game when it became available on Steam. I expressed regret for their choice to use EGS. So what is the big deal?

thats what im trying to figure out.... but im done with the arguing as nobody can answer why they are so butthurt with EGS. i will have a large whiskey when i get home...

No, what is the big deal to you? Why are you so vehemently attacking people's personal opinions and choice? Those choices don't even affect you. So why are you making such a huge deal out of it, commenting on almost every post that even mentioned it?

Just to be clear, the reason people are mentioning it like me, is that they just had a Q&A about it. Last year they really didn't outline their plans or talk about how it was going to affect the game. Also there is nothing wrong with mentioning waiting for it to come out on Steam. So I don't know why that is even an issue. I am clearly interested in the game, just not excited about the exclusivity and having another launcher that doesn't have the same mod support.

because i keep getting quoted...

Because you responded and attacked those making comments, multiple people. So yes, you keep getting quoted and you keep whining about what other people think and decide for themselves.

nice, turning this thread into anti epic too eh?! get over it already. bet you guys all said the same shit when steam came out...
that was my first post that you quoted and started this. it wasnt directed at anyone, it was a generalization about the people raging about EGS. and here we are a page and a half later...
im dropping it, you should do the same.

Not sure if this helps, but have confirmation EGS will not be required to run RGO...

Never said there was anything wrong with saying you were waiting. My post is pretty clearly complaining about people who troll these threads and make them ONLY about EGS. It can be applied to people not interested in these games that just come in to harass anyone that mentions wanting to wait for a Steam release.

I think he just got banned in soapbox, swearing...

Your use of 'your' is borderline retarded.

People have every right to express frustration with exclusivity in a game's thread, it's entirely on topic.

I was a big backer of the original. Still debating this one, though.

damn came here to read about the game not EGS
It is ridiculous how people get so worked up about which launcher pops up for five seconds before the game starts that they derail threads.

I am actually OK with a timed exclusive (i.e. available only on EGS for the first 6 months) IF they do like Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is doing and make it DRM free/not tied to a launcher. I have started buying most of my games on GOG, just so I do not have to fool with a launcher, and I can keep a local backup of the game on my backup drive.
As far as Rebel Galaxy, my only problem with the first one was how there was no Z axis. Flying in a space ship that cannot pitch up or down just bugged me.

Lol the game isn't even released yet, just scroll through the pages? What else were you looking for?
