E-ATX Workstation Case Decision

I'm looking to grab a workstation case with the following requirements:

- Doesn't look like a spaceship
- E-ATX support
- Optical drive support
- Good price / quality ratio (preferably sub $200 too)

I'm leaning toward the Corsair Obsidian 750D at this point, but am a little overwhelmed by case research because so much of decision seems subjective rather than objective like hardware performance and specs when choosing the PC guts. Any recommendations to supplant the 750D with something else?

Some options
Fractal R6 (seconding this) or most other Fractals will fit the bill.
Phanteks Enthoo Pro or the Pro M for a smaller one

I'm liking the R6. It looks like it does support one 5.25" optical drive. Can anyone confirm? I can't tell how you access it.

Have a Gigabyte X399 AORUS Xtreme. Trying not to cut it close.

I ended up ordering a Phanteks Pro M, only $90 shipped on Amazon and includes 2 fans, seemed like a no brainer.

At 10.6 inches wide, the X399 AORUS Xtreme is closer to being a SSI-CEB form factor (slightly wider than ATX) rather than true E-ATX (which are SSI-EEB) that are up to 13 inches wide. So you don't necessarily need to go E-ATX on the cases.

Well, the Phanteks Pro M was supposedly EATX compatible... And it was too small. I went back and ordered a Fractal R6. Frustrating! I was specifically trying to avoid that issue...

They shouldn't have listed that case as EATX compatible then, according to their specification, it is compatible up to 264mm wide (10.4 inches) so it's not even enough for SSI-CEB (10.5 inches minimum). What happened to you illustrates that more manufacturers should start using standard form factors when describing their boards and cases.

Pretty sure the 750D resembles my 800D and I say go for it. Was going to be my suggestion.

I do like the 750D (btw). It's seems to be a great case (considering it for a TR build out)

The R6 is quite good. It’ll probably house several builds in its lifetime.
