Diablo 4 comming?

Honestly surprised they have not yet disabled comments and ratings. Be sure to keep track of all the unlisted trailers they're putting up to dislike those, as well.

Oh, and best part of "April Fool's" Hero is that he said it was a perfectly straight face.
To be honest if you paid god knows how much money for Blizzcon (for Diablo) (not just the tickets) and you are so polite there is something wrong with you ;)

If they had announced D4 people would be saying "who cares, diablo 3 sucked and poe is better". Can't win.
But certainly Diablo Mobile is much worse.

If Blizz listens to the fans complaints from the very beginning of D3 - no pvp, always online, no skill tree, no runes, etc.... They have a chance to undo the Diablo mobile disaster and D3 disappointment for the fans that were around to play Diablo 1 on PC/PS1. Diablo will never compete with WoW or Starcraft so I suspect that Blizz will aim for the mobile or youth communities (since that age group will be building the game) and the series will die as the now "old" generation who loved the originals sit in their front yards yelling at kids on their lawn.

This wasn't surprising. They shuffled management recently, and the new president is big on mobile gaming. In fact it made the news a few months back... Can't find it, atm. On mobile

If Diablo IV is just more of the same a newer Diablo III I'll pass I'm supposedly they canceled a really cool game and development a new Starcraft first person shooter battlefield style multiplayer game.

I'll take a starcraft multiplayer game like battlefield over Diablo IV any day .

actually I'd rather see a full on sequel to world of Warcraft a true next generation WoW all new game engine all new smart computer controlled artificial intelligence AI .

I never thought I'd be so unexcited for one of my absolute favourite game series of all time. I hope I'm dead wrong but I'm not expecting anything good.

I'm just afraid that Blizzard isigoing to rush this new Diablo 4 due to the backlash last year at BlizzCon that yeah we'll get a new Diablo 4 game soon enough and it'll be okay probably not bad but not great just another Diablo at 3 type thing.

I'd rather have that starcraft multiplayer first person shooter game instead, it sucks they cancelled that

I'm not hopeful. They literally have decades of patch notes based around moving the goal posts for addicts.

I can't see them abandoning the temptation of creating yet another dollar driven dopamine goldmine long enough to make a good dungeon crawler again.

If you look at a lot of the design in D3 you can see that this was pretty much what they did there too. What we were shown initially was an ARPG with skill trees and runes and all kinds of stuff, and what we eventually got was stripped and simplified, but if you actually look at the level design it's evident there too.

Act 1 and Act 2 have a feel of a grand adventure, with lots of lore and distinct motifs, and there's a progression through the different level designs. Once we get to Act 3, however, we start to see the design simplified to mostly narrow corridors and the zones start getting duplicated. By A4 - by far the shortest act - Heaven level design is basically just glorified Burger Time - literally a bunch of nondescript narrow platforms with stairways connecting them.

Luckily for them, Diablo had a rabid fanbase and no one had released much in the way of ARPG competition. Somewhat unfortunately for us, Blizz parlayed this rush job into a record selling game that they were able to re-release on several platforms. I'm sure they learned some lessons from D3 but I seriously doubt those lessons were that they need to add more depth and complexity to D4. No, D3 taught them that they can sell the same experience on consoles and PC - what a coincidence that the 4+2 skill design just happened to work perfectly with a controller! - so I don't doubt they are looking to test that data by further lowering their sights to mobile.

Still the lead guy who made the game was dropped under the bus for his grand vision of the game and has since left the game industry. If Blizz was so happy with the game's outcome they would not have done that I reckon, but who knows, the gaming business is a fickle mistress.

Then again I find D3 the best one in the series by far.

I think he was also canned for saying "fuck that loser" in a comment directed towards David Brevik after David has some harsh criticism on D3.

I did have some fun playing D3, but for me at least, it was nowhere near as fun as the first two.

That guy couldn't open his mouth without saying something stupid, telling fans who'd played D2 for years that they didn't actually have fun, that they didn't like skill trees, etc. Also gave us other insightful gems such as "we like big numbers." No shit, buddy. Eschew all interesting game design in the pursuit of "big numbers" that'll be great.

The only reason the game is even halfway decent now is because Josh Mosqueira and his team did their best to overhaul the mess. Unfortunately some decisions from vanilla - like basing all damage off your weapon - royally fucked design at a fundamental level. I don't give a shit about Brevik or feel the need to pine over Blizzard North - anyone can learn from and build upon their great work - but the weapon damage thing was one of the comments he made that prompted Wilson's "fuck that loser" response.

Yeah but if you know that the average development cycle for games is about 5 years , you would like to explain rushing to me in that respect ;) .

Diablo in all the series is a hack and slash game it has not changed from 1 to 3 the objective is the same the mechanics change but not where your jaw is dropping to the floor.

So why would the 4th take a different route?

There was serious word on the street last year that Diablo 4 was going to have some Destiny-like elements to it

Simple - to cash cow it like WoW. They tried with that stupid real money auction house in D3 till it blew up in their face. They will now copy whats successful and drive Diablo further into the mud. This coming from someone who stills plays D2 and D3. I refuse to ever play a mobile variant.
