GTX 1080 ti / AMD Radeon 7

amenx, i tried with at least 15 driver versions
Windows 10 x64, as well
I always have backups ( Acronis)
It's hard to understand if that's a hardware or hardware issue
Especially the 8 bpc nvidia control panel greyed out option
These are my settings:

TV settings (40" 4k Samsung KU7000):

source: PC mode
special viewing mode: Sports (not game, not HDR)
HDMI UHD Color: enabled
HDMI Black level: Normal
Dynamic Contrast: Off

Windows display settings > windows HD color > HDR games/apps: off

Nvidia driver settings:

With these settings, I have great IQ, colors, contrast, deep blacks, but also assisted with an X-rite colorimeter.
No banding at all in games or apps. This on a RTX 2080 and a 1070 before it.

I can't keep the AMD Radeon 7, unfortunately
Performance just sucks, doesn't matter what settings I have
I'll try to RMA the GTX 1080 ti, and see how it goes
One more mention : with all the other flight simulators I have, there is no problem with the performance
IL 2 sturmovik battle of X, Cliffs of dover Blitz, DCS World, etc

Reminds me of my venture to the x1800XT 512MB back in the day ... was supposedly on par with the 7900GTX (I think that was the NV competitor at the time), but I just couldn't get half way decent performance out of that thing. ATi/AMD have always struggled to provide comparable performance with a simple driver/configuration experience, IMO. I still lean toward NV to this day because of my poor experiences with ATI over 10 yrs ago.

Can you exchange the Vii for a 2080? Should be about the same cost, once the 1080Ti comes back hopefully repaired, sell it. Just thinking of options here. Anyways the 2080 or Turing excel at vulkan as a note over a 1080Ti, plus should be comparable with OpenGL performance. Just a thought.

He would need proof the 2080 doesnt show the same problem.

I am sure someone has a 2080 to let him know. I thought it was an overall problem not just a game problem.

I've been confronted with Nvidia banding/dithering mode with my 1080 Ti's and it was not setting the refresh rate to the monitor default refresh rate which made no sense since AMD (Vega) did not have this issue. HDR had utter banding with the 1080 Ti on non HDR content where AMD does not this problem and many times I forget I am in HDR browsing the internet (it is brighter with non HDR content when not using HDR but no banding is present). Anyways I think I will be doing some Quake II RTX with the two 1080 Ti's tonight, see how they perform.

It has been demonstrated that banding occurs more on some displays/versions and more with NVidia gfx cards.
They couldnt let him know without the exact same display.
Note, it hasnt been confirmed his gfx card has a fault yet.
ps I use a 1080ti, no bias.

Back again, on this thread.

I replaced the GTX 1080 Ti with RTX 2080 Ti ( sent back the AMD RADEON 7 )

Performance wise, it's a better card but I wouldn't recommend the upgrade from GTX 1080 Ti to RTX 2080 Ti

I RMA the GTX 1080 Ti, and they'll repair it or replace the card, and I'll sell it

Now, back ontopic : the issue i had, seem to be a bit better, generally speaking, but I still have some color banding and weird effects on overcast, broken clouds, etc

Someone from Samsung should come, but he's very busy, he sad he will come in about 3 weeks ( LOL )

I uploaded a very short video from IL 2 BoS - overcast

Please tell me what do you think, guys

It has nothing to do with the GPU
I'm 100 % sure
It's the TV panel.
But again, if it's the TV, how comes, you can see it ? I recorded with nVidia Geforce Experience
