AMD: Enthusiasts buy CPUs at all price points, we want to give the best we can make at their budget

JC Bagnell from Newegg had an Interview with Robert Hallock from AMD about their new product announcements at Computex 2019. I think the part at the end stood out in particular:

13:47
JC Bagnell, Newegg: I think one thing that has been exciting from a democratizing standpoint though... We got like a feature and performance war at the high end. And the high end isn't nearly as expensive to start builing around as it used to be.

Robert Hallock, AMD: You're welcome.

14:33
J: Some of these lower-end parts, they are actually generating just as much excitement in the PC building community as your high end parts are.

R: Sure. I think one of the mistakes that many often make is when they say "enthusiast", they attach that to someone or...

J: ...to a price

R: To a price or to a certain amount of affluence in the customer, and for me that is not the right decision. You can be a PC enthusiast regardless of what your budget is. And I don't care if it's a $400 computer, or a $4,000 computer. To me, you are an enthusiast. And I want you to have the best possible performance that I can help provide. And so if that is a $99 processor, I'm gonna make the best damn $99 processor I can make, right? And so, there are people buying at all budgets. And any time you lose sight of that, you're in for trouble.

The "$99 CPU" is certainly a reference to the Ryzen 2200G.

I believe this is what true enthusiast engagement looks like. FrgMstr does Intel see it the same way now?

That was a good interview and he's spot on with the enthusiast comment. For me overclocking and tweaking is the line crossed that makes you an enthusiast on the PC. Knowing you have every cent rung out of a machine.

I am liking AMD because it works out the box and they have very pretty stock coolers. Before I relocated I built my step brother a good 2600 setup for a fraction an entry level Intel would cost and he could clock it if needed, the 2600 eats anything thrown at it and the Wraith is pretty awesome, get some RBG love on a stock cooler that is actually respectable, love it.

As a PC gamer, i'm pretty excited that AMD is paying attention to this segment, Intel is paying attention to this segment and even Activision is paying attention (or at least pretending to) with supporting Cross-Play for COD: Modern Warfare (2019 version)

July can't come soon enough

I think 400$+ is too much dude..considering you don't know if the damn thing is gonna work at all and boot up or if it dies and you kill it on water for whatever reason..and trying to go through RMA processes...
They were cool though this time..just one of those bullshit things you're block leaks on top of it..lol

I told them kinda just ill fated and user error/operator both..but send it to Florida/Modus link facility. They will and gave me a new one lol.

Nothing really lol...just some thoughts...but I am still seeing that team blue fanboyism still...when we backed em into the corner and they had to sit in timeout etc lol.
Just being realistic etc and their marketing and any real good reason to stick with them at this point lol

But no ones happy with team red's gpu side either or marketing and still behind...what was good and released wasn't affordable to most...or a go to upgrade.

Nvidia is a dominating gauntlet...we have a great priced alternative entry level enthusiast at the 1660/1660 ti.

They done it better and right timing and what everyone wanted...card has double and the better memory more cuda's no cuda nerfing...runs cool...Proper and good direct upgrade...and you're gonna be able to supersample galore with that sucker.

huh?

I don't know some thoughts dude lol. We got plenty of enthusiast stuff at our finger tips again. I guess it depends what you want to do.

Unless Intel really wants to market their better framerates and frame timing still, when it's not that significant and you sure as hell can't tell the difference lol....the Casual Gamer isn't gonna give a shit Largely.

And noo the IPC is not "There" but it's close enough and will get the job done. they're working on it.

But who cares...Big businesses and whatever else and Professional fields always catered to Intel regardless whatever the hell it was lol. Taught that it was better and the only way lol.

Like I said we put them in the Corner more than they been in years...happy for Team red.

Um, was this meant for a different thread?

Maybe he is I don't know Manpom/ManPod lol
I was laughing at the spelling and grammar. No one needs to be perfect but come on, basic homonyms being misused? It's cringe worthy and instantly devalues your posts.

I picked up one of the $50 Athlon (Ryzen 2) CPU’s at Microcenter for a Soulseek server and I am totally happy with that little bastard. Does everything I need like packing/unpacking zip/rar files and encoding music. Runs cool too. Totally happy with it....oh and it has built-in graphics. For $50.

I loved the "You're welcome" response. Took them a while but the pressure they are putting on Intel is noticeable at all price points.
