At Guru3d.com they have a 7 page article on all of the new Navi line up from AMD.

That’s it for this preview on the new Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT from AMD. On the 7th of the 7th, these products will (should) be unleashed onto the market, and at that timeframe, we may also publish our review. We'll bring it all, performance, technology, power consumption, heat-levels and of course all other good stuff.
At the time of writing (hours before the E3 live stream, we have not received any prices. Logic dictates something in the 379 USD range for the 5700 and 449 USD for the 5700 XT, however, that is what I think it'll be. I'll update to the final prices once they get official and when I get a chance to get back online. More soon.

it would be fun to have an "Ultra" variant of this card

That is the anniversary edition on sale at AMD.com for $499.
There is speculation of a Navi with more then 40 CU.

Eventually, there probably will be a Navi with more than 40 CU's, but I don't think it will be this Navi chip.

After some previews from various developers, AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su took to the stage to unveil a couple of surprises, pulling a Radeon 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition out of its hat. To be available exclusively from AMD, the special edition has the same number of compute units at the standard RX 5700 XT, but with higher clocks, hitting 1680MHz base, 1830MHz game, and 1980MHz GPU Boost clocks.

There is a video on Actually Hardcore Overclocking about this that AMD locked down everything on Navi software (registry) and bios modification seems to be out of the question .....

why would we assume vbios mods are out of the question? every amd car thus far has been easily vbios modded and amd (unlike nvidia) had made no steps in adding difficulty to doing it. I personally prefer a vbios overclock as it gives you more freedom and works well on just about every card I have tried (alot of chips as I used to mine heavily) it even worked great with firepros and you could do fun thing such as flashing dual chip card with one concumer vbios so windows can run with 12 chips in it

I'm not assuming anything that is why I linked the video.

AMD stopped allowing bios mods with Vega I and continued that trend with Vega II (VII). Sure you could mod power play tables but those are just software reg edits.

Word on the street was that it was Microsoft's requirement (from all vendors) for some platfoem security. It's too late for me to Google it but I will in the morning if nobody chimes in first.

Still Loving VEGA VII under water but it will be interesting to see see how Navi does vs Vega 56/64. I expect it to dominate Vulkan and d12 even more.

Tech Jesus from Gamers Nexus said the same thing. vbios and power play tables are no more. He asked AMD directly.

XT card might challenge a 2070.

Why doesnt AMD swing for the fence once in a while.

next year around March (or Jun) there will be replacement for radeon vii based on navi or something. Typical release period.

It is difficult to grasp what they are doing with Navi the period after Navi was created/started they changed around key personnel in RTG and moved people into the gpu team with presumably a bigger R&D budget including Suzanne Plummer if I'm not mistaken.
That is supposed to fix certain things like scaling without drawing to much power on higher frequency. Navi 20 (2020) from leaks supposedly has 64 compute units...

High cost / low volume. Basically, it seems that they can't afford to make high-end consumer-focused GPUs (that are mostly useless for enterprise) just quite yet.
