Cyberpunk 2077 — Official E3 2019 Cinematic Trailer

Looks like I can't buy the GoG version, after all. Even though it's 100% towards CDPR, regional pricing means the Steam version costs only 65% of the retail price. Kinda sucks.

That's a bummer. Hate it when crap like that happens. I just did a comparison between the two for where I live and the prices are the same so it's GoG for me. It'll actually be the first time I'll get a CDPR game from them, as years ago, when I got W2/W3 from Steam I didn't know about the connection to GoG.

Also, according to the Easter Egg from CDPR, preorder numbers actually have a significant impact on their ability to distribute the game. So not preordering certainly will impact their bottom-line far more than just 1 early sales lost.

Considering how much good faith CDPR has built up over the years, preordering on GoG isn't the worst idea.
I doubt it. That was why you preordered before the age of digital distribution because you didn't want to produce more copies than you would sell. That is an outdated concept in this day and age when most of your sales are going to come from digital stores. They probably just said that to freak people out and increase their preorder numbers.

I wonder if CDPR is even aware of the situation. There was a big story a while back. Steam automatically sets prices around the world, discounting in many regions and giving less money to developers in those regions. Most developers aren't even aware of this, and Steam makes it huge pain to not have those discounts. For instance, you can't just say, you want $60 USD equivalent everywhere and have Valve manage the currency exchange. They force you to manually enter the price everywhere, or accept Valves discounts.

GOG apparently just sets one price, and does currency exchange to that price.

The new trailer was cool because I like the subject. Seeing K. Reeves involvement is cool too, I think that guy might really be as cool as people say he is.

But it's the game play trailer that hooked me the other day when I first watched it and there is no way I am likely to miss this title. So since it's going to be a sale no matter what, as soon as my CC bill tics over for a new month, which is before the game drops off sale, I'll pull the trigger early. It has nothing to do with where the money goes or any of that shtick, it's on sale now, I'll go ahead and get it over with because I know myself and I'm going to buy this game so .....

Value of having Ray Tracing HW in a GPU just increased by a LOT, for me anyway.

CP 2077 is the perfect showcase, and the recent trailer was full of reflections, so much so, it felt like they were already showcasing them. Being a single player game, means you will have time to admire your environment more.

Absolutely the best game to sell Ray Tracing to enthusiasts.

IMO this will likely be the first "Killer App" for Ray Tracing.

Yep, CDPR just sold me an RTX card.
nVidia will likely give copies away with new card purchases when it comes out.

I hate to disagree vehemently because while I do believe the developers at CDPR are sweet and truly lovely people, consider that the Pyramids in Egypt, the local Amazon Fulfillment Center, no world wonder got built by giving workers afternoons off for pony rides and candy.

If we awaken to news one morning that CDPR employees are worked 20 hours a day, 7 days a week and sleep under their desks with shock collars on a timer, I will weep for them, but not too long because immediately I will rejoice that I'll be sitting in my underwear and socks, surrounded by Oreos stacked like poker chips and playing Cyberpunk 2077 that much sooner. Maybe even weeks sooner.
Even seconds sooner in some cases.
I've already ordered a case of adult depends and have stocked up on frozen pizza, jolt cola, cheetos, febreeze, sugar free gummy bears and baby wipes.

This is the killer app RTX needed from the start. I always said that hardware ray tracing was meant for AAA SP games and not MP.

Looks cool. Keanu could be a plus, but I am probably buying it anyway. No pre-orders for me though unless there is some special reason to consider it.\

I'll hold off buying (ANOTHER) RTX card just yet though, but maybe by next year they have the kinks worked out. Maybe.

Just in time for Nvidia's RTX refresh next year, maybe? I wonder what kind of card is needed for graphics like that...

EDIT: Also curious how much worse the game will look without RT. It might look very flat, and will be the first game where RT is "required" for a full atmospheric experience.

I'll probably grab the game at the same time the RTX refresh is released so I can enjoy both to the fullest.

Can't wait to see more game play. It already looks good as it is.

I'm really interested to see the system requirements.

Keanu Reeves has been the talk of the videogaming contingent of LA ever since he appeared on stage during the Xbox keynote address at E3 2019. Frankly, we’re still a bit stunned even now, but we’re all going to have to get a bit more used to him being around when Keanu Reeves plays Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077.

This is because Silverhand is dead, probably, and lives as a digital ghost inside your head. If you skip to 3:45 in the cinematic trailer, you can see the character’s ethereal body flicker in and out of view, as if it’s a technical glitch. Reeves essentially lives in your brain and follows you throughout your time in Cyberpunk 2077. He even taunts you when you’re agonising over the character creator: “You really think they give a rat’s dick how you look”.

The main takeaway from this is you’re going to have to get used to Johnny Silverhand hurling insults at you for the presumably many hours the game will take to beat. Silverhand’s motivations and the decisions you’ll make involving him are unclear as yet, but hopefully he keeps the rude comments to a minimum.

I lol'd.

Lol, awesome.

Is there anyone thinking like me - really hoping this is a blockbuster seller primarily so that Ubisoft will take notice and actually finish DX: Mankind Divided?

Edit: I had the publisher wrong - I meant SquareEnix

I think this contains some latest in-game footage. Just FYI in Polish.

// Maybe, I'm not sure.

Well if Johnny Silverhand tells me "You've been playing for more than three hours, and I should consider taking a break", I hope
he's not too sensitive to being told to fuck off :D

You mean the sequel to it? I hope so. I much prefer that format of game to open world.

OHHH MAN that's so bad ass. This just about guarantees that you will interact with ALT at some point. (Johnny's GF that was trapped in the net.) Pick up the Cyberpunk 2020 book to read the short story in the back that talks about that.

The fact that he is playing Johnny Silverhand is kind of awesome. But part of me DOES NOT want to hear him sing. ;)

I wonder if nvidia is going to release their 7nm parts at the same time as this game. :coffee:

I don't want to play this on lower than 4k so I'm going to need to replace my gtx1080. But then I'll need more RT power than the 2080ti can provide to satisfy my needs to max everything. I also don't see big Navi having any major surprises ray tracing wise so I'll need to go nvidia again.

I'm not a Lady Gaga fan at all. Too much old timer in me.

But I like the way you think, I really like what CDPR is doing with this, and I think any celebrity that joins us in our game worlds, is cool for doing so.

Naaa they need someone a bit more punk rock to play Alt.. or punk rock looking. Yet they need to be able to actually act. Ariana Grande if you're looking for name but if she can't actually do good voice work don't bother. Get a good voice actress instead.

I'm waiting for the PC collectors edition in the US before I preorder anything. Because THAT is what I want.

Obviously no one has this info yet, but my assertion would be based around the idea that she no longer looks like herself. Instead being much more "UI" like. With her pale skin and androgynous features I feel like that's a match.
But beyond that, punk rock style is a look. "Acting" involves makeup and wardrobe. If you don't think Gaga could just put something on her (or in the case of this game, render rockerboy clothes) then I think you're not looking at the full potential of things. At the end of the day, mocap is mocap. She could look like anyone or anything.
Furthermore, Alt likely doesn't look "punkrock" anyway. From a gaming lore perspective she was a netrunner. Which also is just a matter of styling that could easily be placed on anyone, including Lady Gaga.

Crazy that she tweeted all the way back 2012, and they answered 6 years later. Could also be nothing.
