Cyberpunk 2077: Official Thread

I just went straight to GOG to pre-order. Besides not having to have multiple launchers running in the background, I'd rather CDPR get all the money instead of Valve or Epic taking their slice. This is just one of those companies I will go out of my way to support.

I'm all for buying an RTX card. Just not from the current 20x0 series. :D I want something from a new revision. I'll be happy to pay for it sometime before this game ships too if NV happens to have something ready by then. I'm still running a single 1070 in my main desktop PC at the moment, and I'd prefer to play Cyberpunk on something a bit more, hefty (and refined).

1080Ti, same. Not because there's anything wrong with the 2000-series, but by the time CP2077 releases, they'll be old :D

Yeah, they do actually seem to be fairly solid cards. I'm usually more into the incremental iteration though than the major change iteration.

Not going to pre order, (no reason to) but I will definitely be purchasing the game on GOG on the day it launches.

If I had need of ray tracing today, I'd get one- if CP2077 released today, I'd already have one. Absent that I thing our Pascal GPUs are sitting pretty :)

I really don't have any "need" for ray tracing... yet. Someday I'm sure I'll upgrade, but for now, I expect this PC will manage just fine for Cyberpunk 2077 even at 3440x1440. ;)

You were saying no one was talking about anything but the actor. I was making a smart ass statement in reply to it.

Point taken and I apologize. Seems like it was too harsh of a reply now that I went back and re-read it.

There's no reason anyone should comment on setting/atmosphere/anything about the game because it's a goddamn CGI video. There's little to comment on aside from Reeves' involvement and release date and all of this stuff was more or less revealed in the 40 minute "gameplay" trailer last year.

Considering the game industry has featured dozens of games with movie actors I'm not sure how this is suddenly a bridge too far. Also, while I'm absolutely not a fan of star-struck idolization I highly recommend reading up on Keanu Reeves' personal life. That dude has been through one hell of a meat grinder and is as humble as it gets in Hollywood.

I still think there is more to discuss than the actor who pops his face on video for 2 seconds. But yes, Reeves is actually a decent person from what I can tell. I still don't like the trend.

For some reason the protagonist reminds me of Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.

CDPR...the only developer which has an explicit exception to my almost iron clad no pre-order rule.

That does look very good. Looks like I am in for an RTX card. Still hoping they get a new rev out before this game hits, but I haven't been following the video card market for a few months. I've been too deep into the FPGA gaming thing lately to look at new PC hardware.

I was wondering why this isn't a top seller on Steam but if you goto Global top sellers it's #1

It's also the top wishlisted game on Steam. Would be interesting to see the metrics between storefronts after release.

I picked it up on GOG when it went live, I think it might actually sell well there as well.

I have an RTX 2060 and only play at 1080p but I'm certain I'll need a stronger card (eg moar VRAM) to play this game with RTX fully on. I'm hoping the next gen RTX cards will fit that bill and I'm willing to wait till later in 2020 too.

I'm also buying on GOG. None of my friends use any of the Steam community stuff and just don't care about it. We have our own forums and have just used whatever voip is working the best for everyone at the time over the years (discord these days). Almost always buy closest to the developer just out of habit.

I use both Steam and GOG (don't like anyone else). I'll probably buy my own in Steam just for the convenience, but I'll probably end up buying it as a gift for a couple of people, and could easily do that on GOG. Best of both.

I might have to invest in an RTX GPU for this game.

This screen shot looks legitimate. Pretty amazing. The recent video was obviously a render, but this looks in game.

What I'd really hope for this game is the following:

- Less Witcher 3 "eagle eye" style quests. I hope the quest design doesn't constantly fall back onto the same tired, boring mechanic over and over again to keep the game feeling fresh.
- Progressing the main story isn't unreasonably level gated and grindy (I'm look at you, AC Odyssey). Hell, I'd prefer if it wasn't level gated at all (think Mass Effect).

If they can do those two things, this game should be a notch above other open world games on the market. At the minimum the setting and world looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing more combat gameplay.

I think in a Cyberpunk setting, assuming they nail the feel of it, and the sorts of things anti-heroes in this setting would get up to, there is a TON of varied activity to potentially take part in.

Hacking, where it actually results in something interesting (and not just opening a door for example) would be cool. Assassination runs would be cool. Participating in some street samurai blood sports could be fun. Punching deck and flying through the matrix, looking at all the burning-neon of corporate ice (to use Gibson terms :D ) could be fun. Faction warfare, etc. etc. It looks like they've got the visual aspects down. That's a big step. I'm really hoping the tasks are foremost fun, and second, a bit more in depth than your standard modern RPG crap. Something that takes multiple steps and multiple skill sets to complete. System Shock had a lot of this sort of thing.

I think we'll see it. Even if this side of things was a little weaker than I'd like, it still looks like a fun playground to explore. :D

I'll end up buying it on Steam just because it's where 95% of my games already are. Plus I'm pretty certain they aren't going to go belly up any time soon.
I couldn't care less about RTX right now. All that's likely to do is kill my FPS. It might be a nice bonus if I replay the game in 5 years, but I can't see pulling 60fps with it enabled these days. At least not in 4K with the details turned up at all. Hopefully I'm wrong.
As far as wishes go, I'm hoping for a living/breathing world concept. Literally every game has a big open world with millions of fetch quests. I want something more fleshed out, even if it comes at the cost of size/scope. I've long hoped for NPC's that aren't just there to assign fetch quests or give me a vague mission clue. Interactivity that is totally independent of any plot is something I've long hoped for. Let players create their own storylines via their actions and such. Either that or the exact opposite - give me something hyper directed with no wiggle room, but a VERY tight story.

If you buy any games on GOG now, you can export them to Steam. 100% of Cyberpunk profits will go to CDPR if the game is purchased on GOG, which is owned by them.

I haven't been following this stuff lately, but did I miss something, or are you just saying that you can launch them from Steam? If I missed the fact that you can actually import games from GOG properly into the Steam library, I'll buy on GOG a lot more.

If it's just launching, then I prefer to have Steam handle all aspects of the library. (with some exceptions of course)
