Destiny 2

I would be angry at a six week drought for Osprey, but bleh. Resigned indifference. Like Daria.

I did clean up the last of the guns I was missing.. Oxygen, ace of spades, and a few others. Nothing super exciting.

chatter on reddit has the Sunshot, graviton, and sweet business catalysts dropping in Strikes.

Yeah, starting the grind tonight after work.

Hearing lots of good things!

Also raid race starts at 7pm EST. Definitely tuning in to see the teams compete for worlds first is always super interesting. With any luck my group will likely run it this weekend.

Managed 717 on my Titan. Lots of cool new stuff and Menagerie! Holy hell Bungie, that's so cool!

This last weekend, I managed to grab One Thousand Voices finally. I started the new grind today. I started a bit late this evening as I've been sick all last night and all day today.

Dan_D I feel ya. The Flu is going through my house now. Last night I was so out of it it took me way too long to find where the damn chalice was to first upgrade the chalice with imperials. And tonight the NBA finals game 3 is on. Hopefully this weekend I can get some time to get further into SoO.

Going in Menagerie at 701 wasn't pretty but we got it done. Finally... a 6 person matchmaker in game. It's about damned time. It wasn't rocket science and it worked. Imagine that. Some of us have only been saying that for several years.

I only played long enough to do the chalice quest and 1 round of menagerie. I liked the chaos of not really knowing the fights and mechanics. We cleared it pretty easily.

Like most things in Destiny 2, with a good group it isn't that hard. With a bad group its virtually impossible.

I think /invite might be bugged now, at least for me. Many attempts were made with me typing everything out perfectly and fully and it just kept saying I needed to enter the full battle tag. I did.

Anyone else having problems with it? This is since the update of course.

Been buggy for me for a while, same thing would happen. Sometimes it works though I really don't do it often.

I was sailing like a champ before the season update. Nightfalls, you name it. I need to hit Shattered Throne this week and that's going to be a big problem now if I can't get this to work.

If its giving you trouble, just do what we did before that feature and add them as a friend (gotta do it in the battlenet launcher) then remove them after the activity (or don't!)

If this is true, it seems like something Bungie may be doing to get people hooked on the game to assist in hyping up Destiny 3. I'll also bet that only content up to now may end up being free, or the base game + the expansions minus what was included with the annual pass for Year 2. There is another annual pass on the roadmap for the next year after Season of Opulence.

EDIT: https://www.thefpsreview.com/2019/06/06/destiny-2-is-going-free-to-play-and-coming-to-steam/

It's exactly what I thought. This is for year one content alone. Forsaken and annual pass content will continue to cost money. BTW, they already effectively did this when they made the base game free last year during Thanksgiving. That move brought a lot of new players in. Including, damn near all my gamer friends in real life who now play Destiny 2 with me daily / weekly. We all bought the Forsaken expansion (which includes Warmind and The Curse of Osiris) and the annual pass. So far, its been worth the money.

Got the outbreak catalyst done last night. Also noticed I am leveling WAY easier than last season since I got bit with that stupid bug for the entire 650-700 run. I did a little of the chalice mission, at least to where it is not broken anymore. I think I have like 500/1000 of the needed something or another to unlock one of the runes. Not real sure about that how that all works yet or what I need to do next.

Hell i was going to try and recap that whole stream but nope, too much. I'm sure Paul Tassi will have his article out soon.

EDIT

HAHAHA

Announcing Destiny 2 on Steam
https://www.bungie.net/7/en/PCMove

On September 17, 2019, Destiny 2 on PC will be moving to Steam. To get ready for that move, we will be enabling you to move your current characters, gear, and progress from Blizzard’s Battle.net to Steam. We’ll have more news about how this will work later this summer.

For now, you can sign up for email updates so we can let you know when it’s time to take your next steps.

Not going to lie, that vidoc makes me really want to start playing again (I stopped right before the season of the drifter). It really sounds like Activision was screwing Bungie about where the game was going. The devs really all seem like a huge weight was lifted from their shoulders when they went independent.

They probably were. I bet Activision pushed for more monetized transactions via Eververse and pushed primarily for multiplayer oriented activities. One take away from the ViDoc was them talking about adding more player customization and more RPG elements into the game. This is something that's somewhat risky and probably not something Activision would have wanted.

They also used to word "mmo" for the first time ever, publicly. I think that says a lot about the direction they want to go.

This should suffice for those who didn't watch. Shackle/hotgun @ destinyroundup.com had a recap.

Stream.

Full stream transcript to come in very near future. Bare Ahamkara bones highlights:

  • "CROSS FUCKING SAVE!!!" - Cozmo
  • Cross Save confirmed. (PC, Xbox, PS4). Destiny 2 will be one of the flagship titles on Google Stadia
    • Your cross saved characters will take up one slot in your Clan across all platforms. They're not planning to up the limit for clans right now. (Twitter)
  • All console exclusives dropped.
  • PC version moving to Steam. All of the content will be transferred.
  • Destiny 2 goes free to play, name changed to Destiny 2: New Light. New players start in the Cosmodrome and play a remastered version of the first D1 mission. Once they land in Tower, they will be 750 Power Level and able to jump into any activity. You'll be able to explore all planets and play the stories of Destiny 2 (Main, Curse of Osiris, Warmind).
    • Tangled Shore, Dreaming City, and the Moon will be fully explorable, but in order to play main activities of said areas (such as Last Wish or Shattered Throne) players will need to buy the related expansions.
  • They'll talk more about PVP this summer, Season 8 is set to bring a renewed focus to it. They are tweaking the playlists. Trials is a thing they want to bring back but it requires some remodeling of the very foundation. Crucible Labs will be updated to include much loved gametypes from the past.
  • Story will be focused on Eris and what she accidentally wrought upon the world. Moon is haunted.
  • Moon's haunted.
  • New finishers, new armor systems, new QoL updates.
  • Shadowkeep will be $35

I don't recall them saying you'd hit the tower at 750 light. Although, if the light cap goes up again to 800, then that would make sense.

To be honest I don't even remember if they mentioned when New Light will release. Is it with Shadowkeep in September?

Geeze louise. A ton of changes coming down the pipe, and here I just need my darn osprey so I can get my darn Wayfarer medal before that's no longer a thing. :inpain:

Season of Opulence pushed the cap up to 750. It seems likely that the cap will increase when Shadowkeep drops in September.

I'm in the same boat with Cursebreaker. All I need is the Palas Galiot (however that shit is spelled) and then I am done. I am not sure on Wayfarer.

The Steam people will eat this game up me on the other hand might install in and log in once or twice. Bungie never had to deal with reviews so I wonder what is going to happen.

Now if Call of Duty would only go back to Steam =) Along with all you other guys who took that Epic cake.

O yeah definitely. I meant the release date of New Light, not the light level.
