Hi,

Been having issues with my PC for quite a while. Wondering if Only the motherboard is the issue

Issue:
PC hangs and crashes (mostly wattman has been restored) when running chrome youtube and gaming.

Noticed before it hangs, CPU core spikes beyond 6ghz up to 8ghz. (did not set any OC , even tried disabling turbo boost) but still issue persists

Specs:
i5 4690k stock
Gigabyte Z97P-D3
Thermaltake 750w toughpower rgb - (Recently changed as I thought PSU was the issue ) old corsair 750w still works fine
2x 8gb Kingston hyperx 1600mhz
MSI RX 580 Gaming X 8GB
Cooler Master Vertical GPU Mount
WD 500 GB ssd
Samsung Evo 500 GB ssd
Custom Watercooled

Already tried the following but to no success:
1. Reinstall windows 10
2. Tried windows 7
3. Change GPU to my old MSI 7950 still problem exists
4. Tested RX580 on friend PC and works fine
5. Test all amd drivers from 16 to 19
6. Reset and reload bios on motherboard
7. Removed Riser and reset cpu gpu ram from slots

Right now only thing i haven't tested is Motherboard and RAM as don't have spares to swap

Should i just replace the motherboard?

Hoping somebody here had experienced this issue and help

Thanks in advance

Have you tried with only one stick of RAM installed? Are they in the correct slots for dual channel?

Hi,

not yet tried running single stick. might have an issue removing the first slot but willbe able to remove the 3rd slot.

Yes running dual channel on 1st and 3rd slot.

Thanks will, try it once i get home tonight.

How are your temps? I'm really curious since the only thing it seems you didn't change is the CPU.

Can you check voltages in the bios after the crash? Check if anything is really low 3.3V doing 2V as an example.

Google the motherboard and see if it is a common problem maybe the ram as well.

Feel outside of the power supply and the sides of the case see if there is any abnormal heat building up.

Not sure how to test your custom water cooling setup.

Hi sorry for the late reply had no time to test till now, just an update tried as suggested on the ram thing.

So when running the first slot ram only, seems i am getting the same problem when running dual channel. wattman crashing and high clock speed. (1st image)

But when i tried running the 2nd ram only on third slot.. seems everything is fine when playing dota 2 for 5hrs now. (2nd image)

Could it be a RAM issue? or maybe the slot?

Should i try running both rams on 2nd and 4th slot instead?

Thanks

edit: attached cpu temps

Try running the 1st ram in the third slot or the 2nd ram in the 1st slot

imho you ar estatignyou diangostic the wrong place.

you are tesgin software without tesign the hardware tha the software is running on first

I would do a memtest86 ( has to be v 7.x)
to start just to verify ram is working correctly

Hi Sven,

Thanks, will try testing the ram using mem test.

Problem reoccured again on 1 stick when i tried to update to Adrenalin 19.5.2 from 19.4.3.

Downgrading the driver and see if it happens again and do mem test

Edit, still same issue on clock speed

Thanks

add some voltage to your memory ranging from +.01 to +.1, and test again.
