Forza Horizon 4

Changing to Normal rather than Simulation definitely did make a huge difference. Still not that good at drifting but I can at least get into a drift for more than a second. I tweaked my wheel settings a bit as well and I think it's good for now. I don't feel confident enough to do a drift event, but at least now it feels feasible to get better at it.

I spent some time doing some of the seasonal events...did the Mini Cooper one with random people co-op online, that was pretty fun. It was interesting that there were some uber high-level people on my team but they drove like crap. :p I ended up doing pretty well, the Mini is a fun little car to drive.

Alright, I'm getting a little frustrated with the "Seasonal Events". I was trying to go for the 50% completion, I had 2 events left to do overall, and somehow I'm only at like 35%?? I did the King/Flag thing (which took FUCKING FOREVER), won that, and the reward was...a Wheelspin. Wow. After that I think it only boosted my completion by like 5%.

I did the Utes and Brutes one (which fucking SUCKED btw), came in 2nd overall even though I got a win in one of the events, so it gave me 2 stars and then didn't count it as completing the fucking event overall, so I'd have to restart the whole series over again.

What the fuck? How are you supposed to make progress? It's showing that I've done nearly everything on the Seasonal list, and then the game fucks you over.

EDIT: I had to Google to find out that Rivals, Adventure and some of the campaign things (Car Files, in this case) count toward completion. Would be nice if the game said that somewhere.

I guess I should also consider tuning/upgrades, but I don't have that much money yet and don't want to waste it on a car I end up not really liking. Also, I don't know what half the tuning stuff does anyway, lol.

As for skill points, I haven't used any of those yet because they also seem to be car-specific and I haven't really chosen any "favorites" yet, so I've just been saving them.

Okay, why does this fucking game crash so much? It seems like fairly often it just straight-up crashes, or won't start the first time I attempt to start it up, or just takes an ETERNITY to load.

Skill points are great for getting wheelspins.

Cash wise, I find the auction house is the way to go. Often you can get the car you want, fully upgraded, for a fraction of the cost. You can remove the upgrades if you want. Doing a few of the 5 lap highway blueprints is a good way to roll alot of cash really fast, and piles of skill points. Its cheese, but I hate grinding for cars.

I havent had any stability issues.

to be honest you really don't need to buy cars, 90% of the cars in the game are unlocked through races/events or buying with FP points though the challenges every season and/or forza live events. out of the 300 or so cars i own i think i paid full price for 1 of them everything else came from the car packs, races, story line stuff, or FP store.

i usually just farmed credits doing the long rally race one that's by the treasure island jump spot.. used a dodge challenger SRT demon AWD and would win the race by 2+ minutes against unbeatable with everything turned off so it was easy farming credits. although there's a section the race where the AI cheats and magically goes from 5 minutes behind to attempting to pass me in about a 2 mile distance til you get to the dirt again and the AI drops back about 3 minutes then tries to cheat again as you pass the finish line.

The latest NVIDIA driver release mentions crashing in Horizon 4 as one of the outstanding issues. I haven't had any problems with the rig in sig.

Interesting. For me it's completely random. Sometimes the game just won't start up the first time. Sometimes it'll crash randomly during the game. Sometimes I can play for hours and it's fine.

I tried doing a reset of the app and I haven't seen it crash yet, so we'll see.

I had to revert to an older driver... would crash randomly and whenever I tried to enter the tunnels. Once I reverted.. no more crashing.

Mine started crashing also, reverted to previous driver and no more crashes so far. Nvidia 1060. Enjoying this game though, so many cars :)

I just hate how so many feel the same. And upgrades are very universal. When you pump cars into the S2 or X class, they all basically run the same engines, drivetrains, and sound the same.

When I wanna go fast, I run the x999 aventador
When I wanna have fun, I run the maxed out ford raptor.

Do you guys just get premade popular tunes? Seems like the easiest way because I'm guessing other people understand it way more than I do.

EDIT: As it turns out, tuning the cars makes a monumental difference in performance.

I gotta say, I am not a fan of Winter, nor the "Playground Games" event. Basically, if someone drops or the teams are uneven, you are basically fucked. I wish you would get credit for completing the event regardless of if you win, but no. Also, it took an eternity to even matchmake a session, and then when I got in the teams were heavily lopsided.

I wouldn't give a shit, except I am SO close to 80% season completion and getting the reward.

So how are you guys liking that Spring Trial? Was a pain in the ass, but eventually I managed to get a competent team after about half a dozen tries. Half the time when I went to matchmake it would just time out, which was fun.

Those team events are a PITA in general. Literally tried all night with my dad trying to get the one achievement tied to one of them due to matchmaking and connection issues.

Yeah, people on Reddit are NOT happy about this one.

Honestly, the biggest issue for me was just the AI completely ramming me off the course when I would brake around tight corners. The AI in this game is honestly pretty shit, they definitely give them superhuman abilities in the interest of making it a "challenge", but the problem is it's not good enough to adapt to a situation versus just taking a certain line regardless of whether or not another car is occupying that same space.

Believe it or not, I think the Drivatar AI in this one is much improved over prior entries in the Horizon series. Be aware that the lower the difficulty the more they drive like idiots, even though they're slower.

lol i warned you the AI's bad.. :p just run AWD and ram your way through the first couple corners and you'll usually be clear them other than the leader which miraculously ends up being a mile ahead of you for no reason, lol.

Finished getting all of the roads on both maps, got most of the boards except one appears to just straight-up not have spawned. Not sure what is going on there.

I picked up the RS200 Hoonigan on the Forzathon shop. That thing is a BEAST. It's my primary "tooling around" car now. It's on the east side of the map in the middle of a forest, so unless it's literally on top of a tree (it's not, I checked with a drone), something is bugged there.

If you see a board on the map that doesn't appear when you seem to be right on top of it, then it's either in a tunnel below you, or you're in a tunnel and the board is on the ground above the tunnel. I don't recall if there are any of the former in FH4, but there is definitely at least one of the latter.

there are some like that.. believe there's 1 in at least 2 of the train tunnels, along with another one that is in the entrance of a train tunnel you can't go into so you have to fall on top of the board inside a fence thing if i remember correctly then spawn your car some where else after. i did all the boards on the first week so i can't remember all the really screwed up spots they put boards.. the one i absolutely hated though was the one at the airport/drag strip.

Guess I'll upgrade - I haven't seen that particular issue but I have had it crash randomly, so maybe that'll help.

Gotta say, $3 for 3 months of gamepass I got awhile back has worked out well.

It's in the middle of a forest with a bunch of trees. Unless any of them are literally up in a tree, I have no clue where this one is. I don't see any tunnels around.

I'll see if I can grab a screencap of the exact location when I get home, but I feel like it may be bugged.

You can sorta see the train tracks at the south of the flag location to enter the tunnels

Ah, that might be it, the area looks right (I remember it was near the airfield because I was farming skill points there). I drove around the immediate area and couldn't see anything like a train tunnel, but maybe it's further out.

I'll try when I get home - thanks!

So yeah, it was indeed deep inside a tunnel. I had to go pretty far out to find the entrance...pretty sneaky, that one. Anyway...100% board completion, whoo!

I've also heard that you can roll your system time back to play previous seasons? I don't know if there are any issues with doing that, but for instance I missed Summer and most of Autumn of this last series because I just got the game not too long ago, but if I could go back and do some of the seasonal events to get series completion up to 80%, that would be pretty cool.

I wouldn't mess with altering the system time because even when I went offline doing so fucked my save game and achievement progress when trying to do so before. I had missed Thanksgiving for the Calendar Man achievement on the Xbox One version and didn't want to wait another year to get it. It was the last day I needed for that one, too, and now I don't think I can ever get it.

Huh, good to know. I honestly don't care that much about achievements, but I don't want to mess up my current progress.

I think you can go forward in time still (due to all the Apollo's that showed up before release) but not sure about going back in time. I heard they closed it up but haven't confirmed.

Personally I've gotten bored of achievements... If anyone feels like trolling in Forza.. lmk. It's a lot of fun.

At this point I am just trying to accumulate money and skill points so that I can purchase properties and collect more cars. Doing the seasonal stuff to get Forzathon points, etc.

So...yeah. Drifting with a controller is literally about 1000 times easier than a wheel. I'm not even sure if it's possible to pull off some of the crazier drift stuff with a wheel in this game.

Tried a controller for the first time and it's insane the difference. I was busting out million skill point combos no problem.

Got through all of the seasonal stuff, did the ranked qualifications. Gotta say, people in MP seem to be pretty disgraceful in terms of ramming and other bullshit. Shameful display.

Took me like 3 or 4 hours to do the qualifiers. Matchmaking and loading takes fucking forever for some reason.
