Anytime an outlet item goes out of stock, it has either been purchased or removed from inventory for liquidation.
https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-black-6tb-7.2k-sata-3.5in-hdd-bs/5543038?pfm=srhHmm tempted by the 6TB. Going by your first post, "open box or return" - I am curious how the previous owner handled the drive lol.
Hard drive is something I'm a bit more picky about when it comes to handling.
So this is a good question, and I'll give you my experience with the drives I've gotten via the outlet.Hmm tempted by the 6TB. Going by your first post, "open box or return" - I am curious how the previous owner handled the drive lol.

Anytime you look at the manufacturer part number and it has '-BSTK' after it, it's an outlet item--returned so could be open box, bnib, possibly missing something minor like a manual, etc. You can't get any more information on the condition online or even by calling. It's the gamble part of ordering via the outlet. But every outlet purchase has a 45-day return policy too, so not much of a fear there.https://www.cdw.com/product/wd-black-6tb-7.2k-sata-3.5in-hdd-bs/5543038?pfm=srh
This is open box? I was trying to figure out what condition this was and I dont see anything just 5 year warranty.
oh because it says availability 3-5 days? Does that mean you can't buy it?
what about warranties? Are manufacture warranties still valid? Like some parts have 3 or 5 year warranty. Do manufactures still honor them?Anytime you look at the manufacturer part number and it has '-BSTK' after it, it's an outlet item--returned so could be open box, bnib, possibly missing something minor like a manual, etc. You can't get any more information on the condition online or even by calling. And yes, this guy is long gone because it no longer says in-stock. Once an outlet item is out of stock, it's gone. Even if you place an order, it will get cancelled at some point in time. I don't think I've ever heard of a backorder getting filled on an outlet item.
Yep, full warranties since the products are considered new. I've warrantied a WD RE3/4 hd and am in the process of warrantying a Lacie 2TB I got recently that was acting flaky--no issues with warranties.what about warranties? I've done the same on a video card I bought. Warranties are as if new.Yep, full warranties since the products are considered new. I've warrantied a WD RE3/4 hd and am in the process of warrantying a Lacie 2TB I got recently that was acting flaky--no issues with warranties.
Not a bad little unit for a dedicated client endpoint that sips power with a 3yr warranty.https://www.cdw.com/product/hp-sb-t430-n4000-16-2-thin-pro-bstk/5522094?pfm=srh
Neat little thin client with a Celeron N4000, normally about $250 but now only $76
These compact Cherry mechanical keyboards are far below their usual $70+ price at $25/ea:

I have a version of these with the trackball, and while they do not have Cherry mx switches, the ml switches they come with are quite snappy and work much better than any laptop keyboard that may have the same layout. They are perfect for needing a keyboard in a small space like a server rack or entertainment center, but are just as at home on the desktop if you like a compact layout. My fingers definitely like them as I was shocked that I typed as fast on one of these as I do on the Model M.
I actually found the trackball version that I picked up a few years ago for much cheaper than this (I think it was near the $25 mark):

There is also a version with a trackpad, but I've never seen it in the outlet.Nice find! I'd love to try that trackball model (even at $40-45) to replace a POS Logitech k400 something with a track pad. It sucks donkey dick. The membrane keys are terrible, and the track pad misclicks etc.
Dude, that scanner will absolutely blow your mind.I must be getting older cuz I'm actually really interested in that scanner lmao.
Any good deals on laser printers? My Dell 2825cdn is dead. Prefer not to put another laser printer on 150$ "rental".

The trackball is a bit 'scratchy' for lack of a better word, but it tracks well without skipping--just takes a bit to get used to, like the keyboard.
My original MFC-8460N I bought in 2007 for a business venture is still on as we speak and has 63867 on the odometer. It worked so well we got a few more in the series and they were bought with even more pages on them and currently have 74318 and 100317 on two of them. We used them mainly for networking scanning so their adfs have even higher page counts. And to date, if we have any issues with any of the newer scanners grabbing multiple pages, we just use one of these old bad boys as their adfs were absolutely the best.I just installed a new DRUM in my Brother MFC7820N after breaking 11k pages of printing. The thing won't die
I'm sure there are. You want another big bad boy mfc machine like the Dell or just a color laser to augment the Dell?Any good deals on laser printers? My Dell 2825cdn is dead. Prefer not to put another laser printer on 150$ "rental".
Well, I think this will tempt you to jump now for only $66:I myself would like to pick up a decent color laser printer, and that issue with the Dell breaking just out of warranty for so many seems to be insane. I would like to get a multifunction unit that is solid but won't break in 12 months after light use ....
I am going to o wait until the fall since I need to pick up a high when Zen2 CPU and possibly 32GB of ram. Waiting to see how Zen2 does with 4 dimms and speed.
It's actually very accurate. I find that I barely have to move it for it to do exactly what I want. The trackball buttons aren't the best, but you get used to them.I'd take "scratchy" if it tracks accurately vs the POS that Logitech unit is. I have purchased 150 or so Logitech products and honestly it's been the first to really let me down. I did have a couple gaming mice die, but they quickly replaced them with new sealed retail units which impressed me.

I've had a 6520DN for years and have been happily feeding it generic cartridges at $10-14 each. (Edit: last 3 color set was $20 actually). Pretty sure they are the same ones for the 6510.I like this deal. Does it include toner, though?
Not really. Toner prices have always been high because you can use a single toner cartridge for a decade (or more) in a home environment. On my personal Brother laser I didn't even use up the starter toner until after a year and a half. And the one in there has already lasted over 2 years, and probably will last another 2 at least.Printer $100... toner $1,000,005.00
(lasers have become the new inkjets)
They usually drop on a weekly basis, but it varies based on the time the product entered the outlet. I usually watch an item daily until it hits the price I want or disappears. How often do prices drop on outlet products?
Most printers will come with a 'starter toner' that can last a few hundred pages if not more. If your printing needs are light, you might be surprised how long the starter toner lasts, and being color, I bet you wouldn't have to change them all at once so the cost hit wouldn't come all at once anyways.I like this deal. Does it include toner, though? After getting burned on all in ones, I think I would prefer some some modularity anyway. At 56$, that's a pretty good deal for a color laser printer (at least that's what I think this is?). I'd prefer not to buy the toner though, as that could be very expensive. I don't print much anyway, and only got the Dell because it was a really good value (and I would have still considered it that, if it didn't just up and die on me mysteriously right out of warranty).
It definitely doesn't hurt to call and ask what's in the box. Sometimes the reps can get someone at the warehouse to check it out, sometimes even they'll miss something, so there is the return policy in case you don't like it.The only way to know what's coming with this one is to call and ask.
I was just looking again at the listing and it's a pretty awesome piece of equipment that comes with on-site warranty and there's even a rebate. It's on Amazon as well and per the Q&A section looks like it comes with toner:

I think I'll just chance it... tomorrow lol.

No delivery driver hangs around and waits for you to inspect something. Like you said they just drop it off and move on most the time.I was just looking again at the listing and it's a pretty awesome piece of equipment that comes with on-site warranty and there's even a rebate.
The only thing I noticed that might be of some concern is that it weighs 66 lbs, so there's potential for it to arrive damaged. If your delivery guy doesn't just drop it off and run to the next stop, see if you can open it there and inspect for damage on the spot and refuse it if it's messed up. That will save you from a nightmare damage claim like I've got going on for a few months now. I'm out quite a bit until CDW gets their act together and takes care of it. Just a word of caution as I'd hate for you to be in the same situation.
Someone earlier in this thread has a good enough relationship with theirs that they will. I also had the same experience when I owned an auto parts distribution company and saw my UPS guy daily. No delivery driver hangs around and waits for you to inspect something. Like you said they just drop it off and move on most the time.
You can! UPS has an option that's only like a $1-3 for signature required. The agent should be able to do that.I wonder if I could force them to make it signed. That way they literally can't just drop it off. They'd need my signature. At 55$ this was a great deal, but the shipping is going to be like 26$ for it. Which is still good when considering it's a laser color printer... but makes it a tad more lukewarm if I consider the (seemingly middling to high) possibility of it arriving damaged and consider the stuff you're going through at the moment. Hm.
