This is really making me wonder why they are dropping the price. Over this time period, it's not like they are getting new shipments and ramping up production. Are they just trying to get rid of the last of them, and something new is coming down the pipe? Or is there some problem and they are trying to offload them before anyone notices it? (Haven't seen issues popping up with them on forums, you'd think you'd see at least something by now if there were an issue.)

Anyways... I think I'm going to head down to my local store and grab a few more. (I already grabbed two, one for my next build, one for a friend's build, and want two more for family members.) Also, might see if I can do price matching for the first two while I'm at it...

The Pro is $94, is this any better?
 
So yeah, I ran into the local MicroCenter to me and I used the RetailMeNot $5 off coupon so I paid $95 (before tax) for a 1 TB SSD!

Also verified that newest batch of Inlands have ECFM 12.2, including this one I just bought.

The OFFICIAL price for this part is now $99.99!

I think SixFootDuo is gonna need to 1) change the price again and 2) gonna have to think of more adjectives to use in the title. I don't envy him. ;)

Also - forgot to mention. The two I ordered online and had shipped were also ECFM 12.2 firmware and they are also just 12 digits apart on their serial numbers.
 
Also to remind everyone who might want to pick one of the Phison E12 alternates such as Sabrent Rocket or Silicon Power, firmware ECFM 12.1 has issues related to thermal management. These issues are largely fixed in ECFM 12.2, so remember to check when you get your order in! The 12.2 updater is linked elsewhere in this thread and should work with the SSD mounted in the native M.2 slot or when hooked up to a M.2 SSD to USB adapter such as the M2X from MyDigitalDiscount.
 
I wonder when a 2TB version is going to be released. I think I will hold out for this for my one remaining slot.

Same here. I told myself if it went under $100 I would pick one up. Don't really need it, the drive is barely faster than the one I have and I probably won't notice a difference. However, I will notice double the space.

With a $5 off purchase coupon from retailmenot I'll be looking at $101 out the door. That's stupid cheap for 1TB this fast. I remember being thrilled a few years ago (the last time nand prices bottomed out) when I got a 512GB 2.5" SSD for $110. This is twice the space and several times the speed, for less. I also paid $93 for the current 480GB drive I'm using.... which I thought was a killer deal at the time.

Yeah, I ended up getting this at 99 to replace a 512gb Inland Pro that I had previously put in my second computer. That one will go into my server so no harm done! :p
 
Can't believe I'm not buying these, I feel like a year ago it was tough to get a 1TB 2.5" ssd for around $100.

Guess I just don't feel like I need additional storage.

What type of longevity do you all think a deal like this has? I'm surprised it's still available.

Are these better than the intel 660p 2tb ones going for under 200? I dropped one of those in an external nvme case for a fast usb-c / thunderbolt thumb drive lol.

They will. The E16 is basically just an E12 with a 4.0 PHY. Although I believe the E16 drives so far announced will have 96L TLC, although the E12 also supports that.
 
At $95 (with the coupon), I couldn't resist any longer. I wanted a 2TB, but those are still pretty expensive for nvme ludicrous speeds.

BTW, only 5 left on the shelf in Houston after I got mine.

The reply was referring to the Inland Pro. If you read the thread - it says the Inland Premium is better than the Inland Pro. No one is talking about the Samsung Pro. Totally different price point.

But yeah at this price, buy, buy, buy! RAID 0 all the things! I know what I'm doing this weekend - I'm just hoping either the ones local to me (Rockville or Nutley Street) have these in stock.
 
I'm about to hop on to a plane to Sweden for a two week vacation.

I hope these are still cheap when I get back! This almost seems too good to be true.

A pair of these would go nicely in my new Ryzen build planned for July.
 
These things are selling like hot cakes.. though good one can order them from there web site.. they had 9 at my store days ago. Prob sold out by the next day.

I'd be by there next Tuesday but will the price hold? And will they have more in stock by then hehe.
 
Really no point in running these in raid unless you are running some sort of datacenter, just like having insane benchmarks, or love putting your data at risk. As fast as NVMe drives are you are not going to notice any difference in any sort of normal use having them in a raid 0 set.
 
As the price of these get way cheaper, I could see making a small ZFS pool out of them lol.
