AdoredTV pre Computex roundup Zen 2 leaked information

Being that the full product line up is still not fully unveiled I would still hold some small hope out for 5GHz boost later on this year or next with that said 12C 24T at 3.8GHz base and 4.6GHz boost is nothing to blink at and not terribly far off (hopefully this part is X370 compatible)

As for individuals getting upset with Adored TV's speculation being off the man always says to take his info with a grain of salt, all prices and specs are at best real leaks at worst lies/bad information and everything is subject to change before launch, he explains as best he can about his sources when they tell him and how much faith he personally has in them, and dont forget the human factor when dealing with sources, AMD would fire any one caught divulging any information right before a major launch there is a chance that different parts of AMD were fed different information to clamp down on leaks and identify the departments that are leaking he might have gotten the guy fed the optimistic line but thats just me speculating.
Anyway I always take leaks and speculation with plenty of salt and i personally did not get upset with any of the new information, yes its not as peachy as we all hoped but its still really good and im excited to see how the x570 and 12c monsters preform when launched it also would not surprise me if AMD come out with a very high clocking 8c16t part later on after the 7nm process has matured some, if they can steal the single core performance crown from intel even for a little bit it would really shake up the market but thats just my wishfull thinking.

EDIT: was just doing some more reading up on the 3000 Series stream and ppl are saying with the 15% IPC increase it will make 4.6GHz on Zen 2 = to 5GHz on Zen+ so awesome if true will have to wait for the reviews in july

While he missed naming/clocks, the most important part - total performance - could be about right, educated guess or not, I am positively surprised with this launch. This was beyond my expectations, if it turns out to be as good as advertized right now.

He didn't do any better than a monkey throwing darts at a wall of specifications and specs.

He missed the dates (CES was his original claim), the naming and thus core counts, the clock speeds, the inclusion of APU parts, and last by IMO the most important one pricing.

In short Everything was wrong in the original set of completely fake rumors (and the same goes for the GPU ones as well).

The new cpus are pretty consistent with around $20 per thread, at least the x models. That would put the 16 core part at around $650.

Being on AM4 is a disadvantage, but remember, x570 has alot going for it. If memory frequency is around 4000 mhz, bandwidth should not be much of an issue using dual channel. There are only 20 pcie lanes, but these are also pcie4, which is like 40 pcie3, so not too bad.

The biggest downside is the lack of surface area for cooling.

The biggest advantage is that you will now have a lot more uATX and ITX options to pack 24 or 32 relatively affordable threads into a sff powerhouse.

And, apparently, DTX...!

The leaks were quite true. It is only AMD who decides finally what he's going to do with it's technology.
AMD just put lower quality chiplets on all AM4 Zen2 CPU and brought the price up. But that's enough to beat Intel hands down and earn plenty of money. No need to through good value under-priced material when there is no competition. AMD also keeps the good quality chiplets for their Epyc line, where they need something great to beat Intel who has plenty of other advantages, like great support, that AMD has no means today to compete.

AMD doesn't have good Enterprise support?

The "rumors" were true, but then AMD changed everything

Wow! What a great excuse! /sarcasm

AdoredTV was a little off from his rumor from 5 months ago. If you look at the leak he posted, you do see a 12c24t part with 3.8ghz base 4.6ghz boost for $299 called the 3700 (which is now the 3800x). So, I assume AMD hasn't reached the potential they want. Or that they are waiting for Intel?

Either way his leaks weren't that accurate. Maybe (pun intended) semi-accurate? laugh

:)

Close is good enough. In general for some people it can't be fast enough.
What could also have happened is that due to the uplift in IPC they deemed the value of the cpu parts higher by lowering the frequency they could sell more on that premise alone. (more silicon that qualifies for the given frequency as well)

It is hard to know such stuff until you hear it from the horse's mouth....

Close is good enough.

But he wasn't close. I could have guessed much better than this in December and did. Remember that in November, AMD had already revealed Epyc Rome with chiplet design.

It was pretty obvious that Ryzen 3K would use the same chiplets. So 6, 8, 12 and 16 core designs were obvious. It was wishful thinking that AMD would give 12 new improved cores for the price of 8 older, slower cores, and I said so from the beginning.

I expected they would give is core to core price parity with previous generation and said so at the time (but it might have been on a different forum).

The next big failure was dates: He said CES.
The next failure was including APUs.

APUs for AMD come after the CPU and the GPU debut (work out bugs in each separately before integrating). Even stranger that he kept insisting on this after AMD said there would be no GPU chiplet.

I always expected the eventual Zen 2 - Navi APU will be monolithic, and probably won't show up until 2020.

Just an obvious extrapolation of known info from the November 8 Epyc presentation would have been much closer.

You are being rather silly here. You take everything and then shove it into one big argument.
If I look some of the stuff he said then it is easy the pricing nothing is right.
The clock speed was not too bad. Anyway I have no problems with what AdoredTV did but realize that what Jim is saying is what sources tell him that is why he published this last video because he was confident that he got the right information. He did not have to do that and get a lot less grief over what his sources tell him. Then again this is speculation not predicting the future .....

AdoredTV was off by $170, 4c/8t, or 400mhz, depending on when numbers I decide to settle for.

I shouldn't have paid any attention at all to the leaks.

I have no problem with someone making money posting farcical rumors.

The problem is all the people here, who kept treating them as credible.

(you can skip to your video in 5s)

Credible* sources** tell me*** that Intel will release their 5.3ghz all-core 18c/36t 14nm+++-++ on 7/6 for $249.

There is a definition of speculation on the first page :) enjoy :) .

Exactly why if you watched the video he said "take this with a grain of salt". He covered his arse.....Not his fault people ran with it.

Youtube clickbaits.....its how people make money.

Don't even think his youtube channel is monetised with ads.

MAybe? I have no idea, but that didnt stop other people (and websites) to run with it. The problem is people hyped up his "leak" info that he said to take it with a grain of salt.

So, some people are let down because they believed the hype. I mean AMD is releasing a 12core CPU that is cheaper then the 9900k (8core), uses less power then the 9900k, and possibly has more performance (wait for benchmarks). What is not to love about that CPU ya know? 4.6ghz boost on a 12core CPU?...fucking insane.

What is wrong about the whole picture ?
It would have been great if all of the stuff is true.
Now some of it is not , were still not paying Intel prices and we are still getting IPC and (12+) core improvement.
That would not have been the case with Intel.

It is not like it is the end of the world .....

You're right, of course. I'm under no illusion as to who's to blame for my disappointment. Just feels bad man XD

Surprisingly enough, he undersold IPC increase and oversold the clocks, in the end it's balanced.

Nope. He was expecting higher than 20% IPC gains. So he also failed in this one.

TDP was also wrong for some models in the 'leak'.

I'll reserve payment until retail channel CPUs are run in use cases similar to mine.

There's some kid on YouTube that's been gaming at 3440 whose parts and #'s are consistent with my existing gear.

When I say $100 2700 I'm being tongue and cheek about the 3300 reportedly being good.

I'll wait until retail channel CPUs are tested

I have a source that has been spot on in the past. ES for the follow up to zen2 have just started sampling. This makes sense when you know how long it takes to validate with board partners. Zen2+ will use a refined 7 nm+ lithography that will bring some increased clocks and lower TDP and higher base clocks. Boost clocks will also see an increase, but not as much.

My source tells me that the follow up to zen2 will be called zen2+ and will feature a slightly tweaked core with better branch predictions and some lower latency cache. It will also have additional support for AVX-512 instructions.

4700X 8/16 4.3 base 4.8 ghz boost clock. 95 Watt TDP.
4800X 8/16 4.5 base 5 ghz boost. 105 watt TDP.
4900X 12/24 4.6 base 5 ghz boost. 105 watt TDP.

Making educated guesses and passing it off based on insider information is not cool. The stick gets old.
I don’t have anymore information then anyone else other than being an OC enthusiast since I got my first 386DX-33. I like be the rumor mill and predictions and speculations. It’s fun, it gives us stuff to talk about. I just don’t like it when people like to pass off like they have insider knowledge that they either don’t have or they are getting played by insiders leading to sow disinformation.

Zen2 speculation is all well and good.
Its like trade rumors in sports.

My workflow would benefit from nothing, as the tools I use are issued.

My hobby gear could use a cheap 1700 or 2600. Anything else is gravy if I have a 1200 to uplift from.

Will see how long you keep your new account. It's almost like you dont understand rumor thread from a fact thread, plus it seems with AdoredTV your like a moth to a flame. Like all rumors there was some truth to what he said and yeah not all of it panned out just like almost every rumor since the dawn of time. Either way now the official info is out I am liking what I see so far.

Not all chips have been released yet, meaning? Some of those missing CPU's on his chart may show up, maybe not in the same location or naming. Actually I thought he was relatively accurate considering any product going up to launch will have issues, corrections and final pricing is really not figured in until rather late or just before launch. I could care less about the final clock speed, it is the performance in the end that counts. So far it looks like a slower clocked Ryzen 2 is faster than a faster clocked 9900K, we just have to wait for full reviews to see if that is true or not.

Now how far they can OC is not know by us mortals, so we wait. It looks like now Intel is irrelevant, to me that is. What excitement does Intel have up their sleaves? Supposedly their next generation will yet require another motherboard - good grief that gets old. AMD not only has a superior desktop CPU's but also a superior chipset with way more bandwidth for SSDs. Even a PCIe 4x SSD from Corsair will be available to plug in a X570 chipset motherboard on launch. Cool!

When will Intel compete is anyone's guess, if Intel did a price war, that would be very interesting. 9900K for less than $400, 9700K $300, the sting would quickly vanish - if AMD can keep up with the demand and Intel has excess chips then we may see some very good pricing from Intel.

At $99, you get 4C/4T Ryzen 3 3200G (Zen+)

I could jump on whatever 2600 sale is upcoming and feel totally fine with waiting until zen2 prices dive around this time next year.
My ryzen build is pretty basic bc it’s not even the 3rd machine I reach for.
I saw it on Craigslist and decided the price was worth my curiosity.
Incremental upgrades are fine if you aren’t in any hurry.

Your fake analogy is as sincere as how you portrait AdoredTV. The guy makes videos if he wanted to fool anyone he could do like you just post shit on forums (sounds familiar anyone?).

Did you not read what Kyle posted in #3 of this thread ?

Strange, The specs of that sexy motherboard said 8 SATA port, I can not see where they could fit 8 SATA ports !!!!

That is wrong, there are four SATA ports.

I have issues with the massive DIMM.2 module, if ASUS would have cut the DAC they could have gone first slot x4 for SSD & second slot x16 for GPU, and no towering module.

I think his leaks were kinda close i guess. i really wanted the 3600G, is there any other new info about that APU?

The next PR event is at E3 but is for Navi.
The next gaming event after that is Gamescom but that is over 2 months away . Maybe we will hear something in between?

Looking at that AdoredTV chart and ignoring the chip names and prices, there is some pretty close correlations with the TDP and cores/speeds. Okay, by "pretty close", it means I glanced at it. ;)

These are some pretty good looking chips based on the AMD presentation.
