Ordered it from Amazon while it was temporarily $950 (still high price, but I'm impatient for this one :))

Well, it came in damaged which browsing around reddit and other locations shows this is not uncommon for this unit. I don't know if these things are just more fragile or if the shipping couriers are just crazy this time of year... both the outer box & monitor box looked in good shape, but I will say the padding used was near non-existent so who knows.

That said, having tried the AW3418DW and then settling for the AW3418HW to hold me over... this 950F is quite nice from a picture quality perspective. I have damage on the screen, but it is at least usable enough to see what improvements I can expect.

I don't notice the input lag difference which was my biggest worry, and the picture quality upgrade is dead apparent (and I'm not just referring to resolution). I think the biggest issue with the AW3418DW (also with the HW I have now) was the low contrast ratio... and to me this monitor proves SOMETHING holds the DW back.

I'm not a professional user at any level so I can't do any measurements... but if there are any questions I might be able to answer that is not available by just googling I'll give it a go. I am most likely just going to set up an exchange with Amazon, but I want to do a few more tests to make sure I am not impacted by the input lag (I play Rocket League almost exclusively so this is important to me).

My current card is the GTX 1080 Ti so I can't help with FreeSync related questions :(

Awesome! I'm really impressed with the picture quality on my LG, even at the low resolution of 1080p.

It's too bad the item was damaged. Good you ordered from Amazon, they will help you with no questions asked.

That may help me out . My AW3418HW is suppose to be here Wednesday and I might check some of your settings to help me out. I too am running a 1080TI.

both newegg and amazon advertise 34GK950F-B as IPS 1ms display that comes with freesync 2 and gsync in one package, is this true?

There are 2 models of this screen, 950G and 950F. If you have a 1080ti, why'd you get the F instead of the G?

And I love how they deceive you with the simulated image on the monitor, makes it seem like the screen has ultra thin borders around top and sides.
Many of LG's ads for their 21:9 screens were presented like that as well, very misleading as I thought that there was a setting not right on my screen since the image didn't go all the way to the edges, lol.

The 950G is restricted to 120hz and also due to the GSync module has less color reproduction capabilities (likely a non-issue, but still). The biggest benefit was the reduced input lag, but I'm glad I gambled on the F because I don't notice it, and I can hit 140+hz no problem in Rocket League and won't benefit much from GSync there anyways.

Ultimately I don't play the latest and greatest, so hitting over 100hz consistently will not be much of an issue for me, and therefor the benefit of GSync is reduced / eliminated.

The F model definitely does not support GSync, however will work up to 144hz no problems with an NVidia card. As far as 1ms... not sure which metric you are referring to? Only thing I can think of is MBR, and yes it has that.

Offer rescinded, I officially decided to just return it and dropped it at UPS today. Little concerned with a lot of reports of issues right now with these deliveries and only 1yr LG warranty so I'm gonna do sideline for now. I will buy when I think the time is right.

That said, I would have kept it if I was not concerned with the quality control issues...

You had nothing wrong with your unit though?

I have one issue with mine, it doesn't wake from sleep over HDMI connection at times. In terms of BLB / uniformity it's really good, maybe one of the best IPS panels I've had. Doesn't happen with the DisplayPort connection.

I've seen some damaged panels posted on reddit but that isn't really a qc issue, probably FedEx or UPS mishandling the shipments. At $950 I'd probably keep it for sure, I paid the full $1200. Thinking about trying another to see if this HDMI connection thing is specific to mine.

The 1year warranty does suck however if you paid with an eligible Chase or AmEx card it usually extends the warranty by a year.

I only used it on DP and did not get any wake issues. There wasn't anything wrong with it outside the physical damage that I could tell.. maybe some BLB but it wasn't too bad.

The problem I had is that the monitor I was replacing was still fine and it is an overall smaller upgrade for me, so I was a little more critical on my decision... I can wait it out for now. Prices will only drop :)

I just scooped mine up on Sunday. 950F. It's another $25 cheaper since I purchased on Sunday, down to $874 at a couple e-tailers. It hasn't been that low since like Feb when it hit $799. I've been waiting since then!

Mfg 03/2019. Just got a few hours with it. Everything looks good so far, haven't found any dead pixels, although there is some blacklight bleed in the corners. Don't notice it unless the image is pitch black.

I'd wager it's helping the K/D ratio as well. Averaging 4-6 frags in Blackout vs 1-3 previously. (1080p 144Hz TN panel & an OLD 60Hz IPS before that) I seriously feel like I can "see" better.

And the wife called it - I want a new video card now. GTX 1070 I had to take things down a peg on almost all settings in CoD4. From Max/Ultra whatever to High/VeryHigh.

I just got one yesterday and paired with my 980Ti. I neglected to do my homework though...apparently 980Ti supports DisplayPort 1.2 only. I couldn't get the display to recognize the connection at all!

I switched to HDMI and luckily that works up to 85Hz, but that's well short of the 144Hz I want. Also, I assume HDMI doesn't recognize G-Sync because it's not appearing in NVCP.

I'll likely research an upgrade to a 20xx card, but I sure was not anticipating another big purchase.

It supports it unofficially. You can find several articles and videos on Google, but I'll leave you one here:

It will be worth it to get a new video card. A 980 Ti would be struggling anyhow.

It should support Freesync over DisplayPort. It does not have a G-Sync module and therefore it will not support G-Sync. You will need a GTX10 series or newer GPU to use Freesync over DisplayPort.

He's not really wrong. Officially, Nvidia calls it G-Sync still. They don't make any mention of FreeSync in the NVCP.

It's 'G-Sync Compatible'- which is a nice co-opt of AMD's poor branding control. They're not calling Freesync monitors G-Sync monitors.

At the time I created this post, it did not support it. I don't think it came about until Jan or Feb... either way I cap my frames at 141 fps and disable *sync and I'm happy with the performance. I can max every game I play so far.

EDIT:

Also since then, they updated the firmware on the monitor to reduce input lag, making it the near perfect monitor. Make sure to update the firmware / confirm you're on the latest version.

Just got mine yesterday, killer monitor. Was on sale for $799 no tax.

Update: I'm a dope. The DisplayPort cable wasn't inserted all the way. Using now at 120Hz...per the TFT Central review, that's the max for DP1.2.

Anyone have issues with G-Sync working on this? once I turn Freesync on (basic and extended) then turn G-Sync on the monitor flickers on and off a ton. I have the newest FW installed and also tried stock DP cable, along with a 3rd party v1.4

I received my used EVGA 1080Ti this weekend and once I got everything configured right, GSync at 144Hz has worked lovely. This monitor is just SOOOOO satisfying with the right hardware backing it up!

No doubt. It was such an upgrade from 24" 1920 x 1200@60Hz, no adaptive sync.

My only gripe so far, is that HDR is unplayable during the daytime/lights on. It's just not bright enough. Dark out, lights off, it's a competitive advantage, at least in my head. I can see people in dark rooms in Black Ops 4 that I wouldn't have targeted as soon with HDR off.
