Intel's 9th Generation Core Family - R0 Stepping

19 and 21 and we all OC. But man can they eat me out of house and home smh.

Must be nice.. upgrade and pass down the parts without needing to sell them!

I tried that with my 9 year old at the time.. 2 months later he discovered fortnight and his friends play it on there ps4.. so from then on that's all he does. So mow I get to sell off his gaming rig.. i7 6700k/16GB ddr4/Asus Hero z170/evga 1080ti ftw3 hybrid/new asus 27" 1440 165hz g-sync monitor.

Only dragged my butt over a year doing it thinking he will come back to pc gaming but nope.

BIOS updates are now available for all the MSI Z370 motherboards to support the upcoming CPU.

Has the new R0 stepping out yet? Or hasn't been released yet? I'm thinking of upgrading from 5960x to 9900k gaming. Not even sure if it's worth it lol.. but we are all [H] here so that's not a question should be ask around :D

Curious about this too. It would have been nice if they are a different SKU to avoid luck of the draw.

If you live near a Microcenter store, you can always ask a salesperson to see the box before buying it.

Still would be nice before making a trip. I have a local MC but it's still a 90 minute round trip plus shopping time.

Ah I just roll the dice and take what they give me. Done well the last few upgrades from the 6700k at 4.8ghz and the 8700k at 5.2ghz and now the 9900k at 5.2ghz.

It's all about temps and running custom water loop will help with that.

It's probably not going to be R0 stepping until mid May to June before it starts showing up. No salesperson is able to tell me anything so I'm just making wild guess.

Is it true that 9th gen cpus can allocate the whole L3 cache to a single core task? Also, didn't this site have a review of a retail 9600k? I don't seem to find it anymore, was it retired?

I want to do a new build with a 9900k but I guess I should wait for this new stepping?

Yeah I'm not going to upgrade my 8086K to 9900K either now, lost the itch. Gonna hold out for the 16/32 Ryzen for a Linux box. Too much perf loss with all the intel security mitigations enabled.

Intel Computex 2019 Preview 5GHz All Core i9-9900KS and Ice Lake
https://www.servethehome.com/intel-computex-2019-preview-5ghz-all-core-i9-9900ks-and-ice-lake/

During the pre-briefing Intel shared a perspective around PC application usage that focused on what applications consumers actually use. It shared a dataset from 2015 to today and highlighted a number of applications:

Computex-2019-Intel-Common-Client-Applications.jpg

Computex 2019 Intel Common Client Applications
The key to this is that it says the benchmarks being run (e.g. Cinebench) are not necessarily representative of real world usage. Instead, Intel is focusing on the developer community to push optimizations into the software stack to make its CPUs perform better in real application workloads.

So I am assuming that the 9900KS is the sku for the 9900K with R0 stepping? It would be nice as this let's the consumer know for sure if they are getting the improved silicone.

I wonder if there will be a 9900KFS? Could this be the once rumored 9900KFC? :p

Still no R0 news. I feel like maybe Intel decided to scrap the revision and not tell anyone?

They might wait until independent reviews of Ryzen 2000 start hitting. Or you could be right.

I wouldn't buy anything right now, so perhaps it's wise for them to wait.

I really want to upgrade to a 9900k though, I'm tired of waiting. How much better could R0 be? If it even exists.

I lost interest in the R0 9900K, gonna do 3950X at xmas / after new years

Could be just a better binned 9900K. Either way I am sure that thing is going to need some good cooling. Wonder if it will even OC all that well since it is already pushing all core 5ghz.
