What is the fastest 40" display for gaming?? I would like to get above 60hz but keep as much screen real estate as I can with max speed.. What are my options??

Something like this?

edit: I am going to have to sacrifice some screen real estate for speed... I know this. How about this option?

Thanks for the input.. I am likely going 34 ultrawaide for the speed..

Yeah, probably a good bet. 4K is too hard to drive at high refresh anyhow, 1440p is much more forgiving.

Yeah... I ordered the Alienware 34 inch 1900R g-sync display.. going to give it a whirl... It's got to feel better than my 60hz samsung lol.... speed wise.

Nice choice.

Thanks!! It seems to be a good balance of screen real estate and speed.. and g-sync goodness. I’ve never used that before. The transition from my 60hz 40 inch to this I am guessing will be dramatic... I probably won’t even think about the smaller screen due to speed and smoothness. I hope it does 120hz without issues.. I am reading some of them flicker or make a sound when overclocked.

Yeah, it should be a good upgrade. Even 100Hz is fine, but 120Hz is great if the OC works.

And 34" isn't exactly small. It still is a fairly big size considering, but obviously smaller in comparison to TVs.

You are right.. I just measured out the dimensions (32.03 x 12.56 x 22.08 in) in the spot where my 40 is now.. it's going to fill the space very nicely. It's just as tall and a few (3.5? ish) narrower.. I'll move my speakers in a little and boom! It's gonna work nicely.

If you haven't used G-Sync before, here are the settings so it will work optimally.

First, make sure G-Sync is enabled in the Nvidia control panel.

Go to the global 3D settings, put monitor technology on G-Sync and force V-Sync on.

In game, disable V-Sync, and then use RivaTuner to set a frame cap at 2 below your refresh rate (e.g. 118).

These settings will ensure that you get the lowest lag and that G-Sync stays within its range so it's working.

I went in to work to get some shit done and will be back later. I guess I will have a backup DP cable now. :)

God daaaamn... this is the shit. It’s noticeably shorter than my 40 but the smoothness is undeniably awesome ... feels like a crt.

Ready to play some games now.

Thanks again for the G-sync settings... This made it very easy to flip it on and enjoy.

That was the monitor I wish I had bought. Good choice.

I ended up going with a 1080P LG model for better performance, which it does provide, but I think 1440P would have been a better long-term investment.

Ok couldn't wait, just ordered one of these Alienwares. Getting here tomorrow. :D

You will not be disappointed. Love this display.. At 120hz with Gsync games are sooo buttery smooth. I love the curve - not too severe for me. The physical form factor of the display is bad ass too.

Yeah this thing is great. You were right. I was kind of taken back at how small it seemed compared to the 55" 4K tv i was using for main monitor, but once i got it placed at right distance, setup gsync/etc, realized how amazing and how much i forgot i was missing out on the refresh rate. Also the ultra wide games are pretty slick.

Yeah, I thought it was on the smaller side too compared to my 55". Then I went on a trip for a month with only my laptop (good laptop, but 15" screen) and then coming home, WOW 34" is huge.
