Hi there,
I was wondering if Origin PC is an reputable company? Has anyone here ,ordered a laptop or pc? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes Origin is a reputable company. They just charge about 2x as much as if you built it yourself. Most people on tech forums like building their own PCs and will attempt to dissuade you from purchasing a prebuilt PC.

From a cost perspective it makes sense. That said, not everyone has the knowledge and skill to choose the parts wisely and to actually assemble a machine. Even if you can, that doesn't mean you can do it with the same attention to detail and expertise as a boutique builder like Origin PC. Another thing you pay for is the warranty and customer service. For some people, that's worth quite a bit. Unfortunately, you will pay nearly double the price for the same machine you could build yourself if you have the skill set or are willing to learn.

That is true.

OP, you are new here, but you can go to the "General Hardware" subforum and make a "New PC build" post. Write your budget, what you will use it for, and any parts you may already own (eg monitor, mouse, peripherals). People there are quite friendly. They will offer suggestions on the best configuration of core PC components that fits your budget. Even if you do decide to buy from Origin, it will be helpful to get a 2nd opinion.

LTT recently did a review of Digital Storm's Aventum X, a nearly $10k balls to the wall desktop PC. Their conclusion? They already did a money is no object build that matched it in performance for half the price. The only difference came down to aesthetics and DS's custom case and cooling, which LTT debated was really worth the nearly 5k price difference.

So, yeah, general consensus with Origin is good stuff but you're paying a premium for their look. And if you're too lazy to do it yourself, no shame in that. You could certainly do worse.

LTT came to same conclusion regarding a specific Origin unit during their Gaming PC Secret Shopper series they did around xmas.
