Bought some Sennheiser 58X Jubilees since alot of people say they are just as good as 660s. The thing is I never bought open back headphones either but if it prevents ear ringing or sounds better. So is this pair isn't as good a a HyperX Cloud set for gaming I'll be informed anyway in the future.

I have the hd650's and I haven't listened to them in over a year. I just don't like them. the way they fit my head hurts when worn for long sessions.
my two favorites that haven't changed in the last year is the
HIFIMAN HE4XX (I use an O2 amp as they need power) Heavy but fun to listen too.
Phillips x2 (my go to all day listening headphones)

I have way to many sets of headphones to be honest. I've tried 4 sets after the Phillips and nothing feels or sounds like them for my ears.

I like open headphones more than closed. To each his own on open vs back

let me know what you think of the Sens after you get them

Yeah should be here in two days I never used anything that was higher end before basically my music is downloaded original sound tracks from youtube. I have the Hypercloud Alphas and Hyper Cloud originals that I bought like 3 years ago. Also have a Razer Kraken set that has too much Bass. a Corsair Void wireless I got from Intel Retail Edge. Also a lone Steelseries Siberia which has good highs but no much more.

You might want to get an amp for the new headphones. I got my O2 amp from Mayflower electronics(years ago best thing I could of done. nice clean power for not much money.)
You will find out when you get the headphones if they are lacking in sound. Couple of my headphones sound like garbage without the amp but become amazing with the amp.

To me open headphones sound like you are at a concert or movie theater (sound all around) closed cans just dont sound the same to me.

I have a Creative Soundblaster AE-5 upgraded from a Soundblaster Fatality Recon which was ok but the software was no longer updated. I really don't think I'll spring for another Dac or Amp or a Combo you can get unless they sound exactly like my other headphoes. the Soundblaster AE-5 can do 600 ohms.

The Sennheiser HD 58X from Drop are very good bang-for-buck, but the 660s are noticeably, considerably better (for that matter, the 58X are a bit below HD 600/650/6XX as well).

Check out this review from metal571 (one of a tiny few YouTube reviewers I trust):

These are golden everything sounds clear and no funky bass even though they are open back headphones you have to crank the music to ear bleeding levels in order to hear it outside your headset.Only thing I notice the earpads are kind warm and it's only 60 degrees outside. I'm sure they are stellar for gaming just playing my small collection of OSTs from different games. What I like about they is the air flow going from one side to the other these play with your ears like that I had that happens with my Steelseries set playing Gothum city impostors but it wasn't this good.

This highly respected reviewer recently put out his take on the HD 58X:

https://diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/headphones/measurements/brands-s-se/hd58x-jubilee-massdrop/

In terms of "bang/buck", he really likes it; noting that its more of a "budget" take on the (already budgeted for HD 600/650) HD 6xx headphone -- although, with a detailed mod, it can be turned into a budget HD 660S. Pretty accurate and neutral sound signature.
He strongly recommends it as an entry-level headphone.
The HD 58X is now on my short list for purchase.

I don't see the 58X as being much of a suitable alternative to the 6XX, simply because they're so close in terms of price. The HD660S are in an entirely different price bracket regardless of performance ;).

However, when talking about gaming, there's such a thing as too much. Too much bass and you lose imaging (locating things), too much treble will be fatiguing, especially with gunshots and explosions and anything that is just 'noise'.

I just don't like them. the way they fit my head hurts when worn for long sessions.

If you haven't yet, extend the ear cups all of the way, then bend the metal band directly. Do this repeatedly until you get a good fit. Sennheiser's HD6xx headphones are known for being especially snug, even on smaller head circumferences, and need more adjustment with larger head circumferences, but will adjust.

[and on that note, headphone comfort is extremely important- no way to enjoy sound if your head hurts!]

If comfort didn't matter I would still use Grado headphones. They sound amazing but hurt like some prison torture apparatus.
The Phillips X2 are my all day gaming, music, movie and all headphone. I like the sound and love the comfort. Actually sound good on an Iphone as well but comes alive with O2 amp.

I've been so close to ordering a pair of these for gaming. I can't even definitively state why I chose something else... every time I chose something else. With everything else either being in the same price bracket, or in the case of the Focal Elex, way more expensive.

I'll probably start working to pair down my collection soon. However, I did just put some Brainwavz XL Perforated pads on my DT880 Black Edition and comfort jumped to a reasonable level... and they can put out a decent amount of sound even with my ancient USB-powered Xonar U3. Combined with a Zalman mic, this makes for a quite functional all in one upper-low-fi gaming setup.

I'll see myself out...
