a small fee to them is ten dollars for something they should proivide as a company for their customers for free.

Its funny fido used to be independent and was by far the best bang for the buck carrier for a long time. Back in the early days of Canadian Cell service they pushed the Canadian bigs like Rodgers and Bell/Telus/MTS/SaskT to compete on price. Then they got bought by Rodgers. Now their just a Rodgers Brand and fees for phone support are not shocking at all. Fido was the first Cell carrier years back to allow simple SIM swaps... and would even register IMEIs from non fido phones and where in general easy to deal with. There was a time when every Canadian phone carrier but them would charge $25 bucks to swap a phone... and all sorts of other silly service type fees Fido didn't charge.

two words that have come back to bite everyone on the bottom end

PROFIT CENTER aka REVENUE STREAM

Sounds like these are things they want you to do for yourself through an online account. If you need them to do it for you then they charge. Still seems a bit weird though....like how big of a problem was this?
