Hey. I'm finally getting around to converting my old HTPC into a Windows file server and need some help finding a new smaller case. Of course I limitations and specific needs which may or may not be possible. I'm fine if this aren't possible, but hoping I can do something. If I'm crazy, sorry for wasting your time :)

  1. Looking to "slim down" the size of the Case (its just too big for the space I have)
  2. Looking for the smallest vertical standing case...can be a little wide but hopefully not too tall
  3. Budget <= $100
  4. I really want to use my old parts because, well...see #3.
  5. Looking to hold 4 3.5" Drives & 1 2.5".
  6. Could buy external enclosures if necessary (ie case only holds 2 drives)
Here is what I currently have:

Thank you very much!!!

If you were willing to go 2u(3.5") you could stuff it in something like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811219032&Description=2u itx case&cm_re=2u_itx_case-_-11-219-032-_-Product

Also how big are your drives? You could go 8tb WD Reds for $130ea, so if you could shrink to two:

Maybe do a Biostar A68N-5600 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...&cm_re=biostar_itx-_-9SIAD7H8E09784-_-Product $135
And an itx 1u like https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod..._re=supermicro_itx-_-2KH-0001-00031-_-Product $110
-----------------
<$500
