Has anyone else had shit luck with this phone and it's USB port? Getting ready to send my third phone back in year over it. Keeps getting loose and won't hold the cable in well enough to charge. Fortunately the damn thing has a two year warrnaty, but 3 times in a year seems excessive. Phone gets charged on a flat surface with the OEM cable. Cable still clicks into other devices and holds there.

No issues with my 2 XL's USB port. Just tested with the cable here at my work desk and it clicks in solidly as it always has. I've had mine since March of last year as well.

Likewise, my port seems to be as good as day 1. Have you considered that your usage pattern is unusually hard on the port? It may be worth investing in a phone with wireless charging.

How's charging it nightly hard on it? It gets plugged when I go to bed, then unplugged when I wake up. That's it. No head phone adapter, nothing.

Only thing I can think of is that it spends a decent amount of time in my pocket. Perhaps lint gets jammed up in it? Blowing it out with compressed air doesnt do anything

Are you using the charging cable it comes with? Plugging it in nightly would be something 99.9% of Pixel 2 XL owners would do and it's hardly uncommon to keep phones in pockets either.

Yep original cable. That cable clicks in normally into the wife's Pixel 2 XL. Tried swapping to the other end, no change.

Most likely lint stuck inside the port. I like to use one of those thin plastic dental floss picks to carefully clean my ports out. I've actually had more issues with this on my work iPhone lightning port than my Pixel Devices with their USB C ports. No amount of blowing or sucking will dislodge the lint when it gets stuck in there because it seems to get compacted.

I have heard some people talk about using USB C port covers (I presume just something you pres into the port) to keep lint etc. out. Maybe due to the environments you are in, you are getting more debris buildup than others. Some cases have coverage of the port as well.

This worked, huge thanks. Not much came out, but enough to get a click when connecting a cable again. Going to have to look into a case or something for that port

Nice.. I keep my phone on my back pocket with The USB port sticking up/out, so I guess that's why I haven't had any issues with lint in the port. Glad you figured it out though.

ive also had lint cause this issue on several phones. glad someone else posted about it and you got sorted out.
