Destiny 2

All I'm gonna say is F Trevor!

That asshole seems to find me anytime I drop down into the maze. I'll get killed by him three or four times as many times as my team mates. I've been upwards of a minute behind them reaching the final boss fight because of that crap. I've literally jumped into the maze only to be killed as soon as I hit the floor.

Curious - can it be damaged? Say shooting a bunch of 'colony' exotic rounds at it to chase him down?

Outside of the stress of trying to get through there quickly (got it down now, finally), its hilarious watching people encounter TR3-VR for the first time. That poor girl is going to pass out laughing so hard :-P

Nightmarish. Trevor is probably the scariest thing to ever show up in either Destiny game. ;)

Its cool that eventually you realize he's on a set pattern so if you find a route that works, do it every time and you'll be ok. In our group I usually get there first. When I get to the ledge right before dropping down, Trevor always goes from right to left right below me and I drop down and run right. Hit the R1 switch then run back the way I came and wait for the electric door. Run out and get on the pipe in the middle and wait for him to pass by then jump back in and run for R2. Keep moving the way you went in and wait for the electric door then head for the cubby hole at the top on the right side and wait (at least for me) for my L side guys to finish their route (which I have no idea what that is lol). Once my team mate calls out that he got L2, I jump out and run for the elevator.

No sweat! :-P

After fighting in that room probably 20 times now, this is my best approximation of how the fight should go and what should be focused first. This is as if I was going to do it all solo but with 3x people, a lot of this is happening simultaneously.

  • Drop down and go below on the left or right and take out the red bar ad's, especially the vandals with a pulse. Hopefully try and also take out the turrets, they're a HUGE pain.
  • Move to the other side, still below, and do the same.
  • Shoot the boss a little and the big servitor with the shanks surrounding it will spawn. Tether hunters should now tether the whole group while a nova bomb will all but decimate everything there. If not, heavy down the Servitor and void damage for the shanks. This is where you learn its KEY when shooting those grouped up shanks that you're matching the element. Anything else is a waste of ammo and time. Void front, arc sides, solar rear.
  • By this point, Arc shanks on the left and right side of the room have likely spawned so I move to an arc weapon and take them out quickly.
  • Another giant servitor with Solar shanks surrounding it will spawn in the back of the room and try and repeat what was done for the first servitor but with solar damage.
  • I'm not 100% clear but I think killing that servitor triggers spider tanks to drop on the raised left and right platform at the front of the room.
  • We usually communicate which tank and then which leg we're shooting at to open it up then if the turret is dead, our Whisper guy will lay into the exposed neck with Whispered Breathing and chunk it down. These things have too much health to waste ammo on anything else. Remember, unlimited ammo in Whisper and the neck is a crit.
  • At the same time, the other two guys should have shifted focus to the Fallen boss doing whatever they can. At some point, i think if you get him to below 1/3, more adds and shanks will spawn on the main platform that also need to die. If you have a tether, it works wonders here. Finish off the boss and win!

Well, these tips were helpful. I cleared the mission in both normal and heroic modes. Now I have to work on getting the ship.

Congrats! We're going to make our attempt tonight. I've read through the posts and watched a little of a video but i'm still confused as to what's going on in the vault. I'm going to have to try it I think, before i understand it.

In other news, Gladd and Eso have both solo'ed Heroic, did the Void Configuration and beat the bosses in one run. Eso did it flawless.

The streamer cbgray had a great video on this with diagrams and spreadsheets.

O yeah I got it all saved and ready to go. The spreadsheet Math Class put together and a video Ninja Pups did that was pretty well done. Just gotta actually go through it in person then i'm sure it'll be easy.

The fact that you don't have to actually beat the bosses is nice, no real time crunch if you're fireteam is quick about everything up to that.

Got the catalyst last night. Heroic is quite fun. Took just two runs to do it too. Well, it was my 2nd run but i think the other two folks had been through it already. Not sure any of us are good enough to run with whisper. I don't trust the ammo refill to work on just the 9 shots, too many times does it just fail to register.

Fun fact: Eso beat the normal version flawless with a blink warlock after that sweat guy offered a free sub for such a feat. Kinda hilarious.

I did it with Whisper. I can't see doing enough damage with other heavy weapons to pull it off.

For our heroic run I ran nova bomb, skull of dirething, the Outbreak perfected, loaded question, and hammerhead. I think the others in the group also ran hammerhead and i'm pretty sure they both ran riskrunner. I do want to give whisper a shot.

Machine guns as heavy weapons have a great deal of versatility. That's why I run one more often than not. Unfortunately, they don't have the raw damage of other options for a boss fight. Its rocket launcher's, grenade launchers and things like One Thousand Voices or Legend of Acrius that are used for the Riven cheese for a reason. Whisper of the Worm would be rather lack luster were it not for the fact that it hits so hard with the Catalyst. That by itself isn't all that impressive. I've seen similar damage out of DARCI and Izanagi's Burden. However, Whisper makes up for that with the ability to make its own ammunition if you do your part and forgo having to reload. Its got a relatively quick fire rate as well.

It's the best weapon against those walkers, servitors and that Fallen boss guy. I tried with the machine guys prior to going in with Whisper. Changing that out alone I was able to do a lot more damage to the bosses. I got into the boss battle in the Heroic version way ahead of my teammates and I did half the fight by myself. I can see how you can solo that fight but I can't see how you could do it without whisper. As a Titan, I don't think I've got the ability to solo that as our super's just aren't boss burners. With Nova Bomb and a Whisper of the Worm, I can see it. it wouldn't be easy, but definitely doable.

Did the reglar last night using the time cheese. Saved us from losing due to platforming screwups, which there were plenty of. The last fight didn't seem too bad, but , of course, no time constraint. I used Arbalest on all of the shanks, made them all one or two shots, breaks their shields easy. I used Oxygen SR3 and Roar Of The Bear with Tracking. Didn't have too much problem with the boss. Only died once.

Okay.. fIve of swords.. yeah that made things a little easier, but damned if I wasn't dying at a good clip soloing in the Prison of Elders. Oh well.

Props to getting through it with a rocket launcher! I can't find one that does enough damage for the ammo you can hold, even with reserves/scav. Come to think of it besides cheesing Riven, I don't think I use a rocket launcher for anything.

Before their recent buffs rocket launchers weren't good for anything.

Had a good night. Ship blueprint/Void Configuration done (i'll give some tips on that in another post) and the time trial done legit (no infinite time cheese). 5:26 left on the clock. I don't know what it is about that mission but it takes it out of me. Done gaming for the night.

You're going to want the attached image either on another monitor as large as you can get it or printed out in front of you. You have to reference it constantly. Like every 6-7 seconds. I wanted that thing as easy to reference as possible so went full stupid and ran the game in a window at 1080p and put it next to in on my ultrawide. (gaming in a window sucks)

(EDIT: I added a second, prettier image but both work)
  • We positioned ourselves at each of the three consoles, they're labeled 1, 2 and 3. I was at 2 and was responsible for reading that console as well as the Purple, Blue and Cyan rooms.
  • Another fireteam member was reading Console 1 and had the Green and White rooms.
  • Last member was at 3 wasn't reading that console (not needed) but was responsible for the Yellow and Red room.
  • At each console, you have two circles. Each quadrant of the circle represents a number when lit up (see circle diagram in image) To begin, the fireteam member at Console 1 would read the number on the left circle then the number on the right circle.
  • We'd all go to those two numbers in the chart. Say he read off 9-9 (so both circles had 9 lit up). The corresponding terminal that needs to be locked in is 2, in the purple room according to that table.
  • Me, being stationed at Console 2 and responsible for the Purple room would run to there and activate Terminal 2. Now, looking at the diagram of the room (each room is laid out the same), Terminal 2 is the first one on the right when you walk in.
  • I would activate then immediately run back to my Console. Note that if you activate it correctly and wait around to see, it will glow green and play a nice little chime.
Now, WHY we're able to get it right after reading only the numbers on one console, I don't know. That's up to the crazy people at Raid Secrets doing all the math and trial and error.
  • Upon activating that Terminal, the circles at each Console would reset. Fireteam member at Console 1 would then read the numbers off again.
  • Say he calls out 11-4. Now, there are two 11-4's in the table. This is where I at Console 2 would need to read off my circles. For instance I read off 5-4.
  • In that case, since there are two 11-4's and only one of them matches 5-4, we take that one.
  • The fireteam member at Console 3 would run to the Red room and activate Terminal 4. Again, since the full match was 11-4 on console 1 and 5-4 on console 2, that matches Red 4.
So you then repeat this for a total of 49 times to complete the Configuration and get the blueprint.

You get time back (i was too stressed at the time to look but it felt like 10-15 seconds) after every successful Terminal activation so if you're in a flow, you end up with more time then you entered the room with.

Now, at one point, we activated the wrong terminal. This locked everything that we could find and the circles weren't showing numbers so we kinda panicked. I'm not 100% sure this did it, but our fireteam member at Console 3 found a lever right at the entrance to the vault on the left that we think reset the consoles and allowed us to continue. This mechanic seems to be be a time penalty for getting one wrong.

All in all, once you do the first 2-3, it becomes incredibly simple. The guy at Console 1 has the biggest job as he always needs to be running back to his console and calling out the numbers so if you get confused by which number is what on that circle diagram, might want to let someone else do it.

Good luck Guardians!

Horrifying. I'm tired just reading all that and looking over it. I put up a practice run last night with myself and some others on Heroic Zero. Damn near an hour I was mostly stuck on that damned outside wall. I made it exactly one time out of all that. It's going to be a long, long time before I ever see what you're talking about there if ever.

Man, I feel for you. I want no parts of doing that on a hunter. However, keep in mind the Void Configuration completion does NOT require you to actually beat the bosses at the end.

Treat it like doing Whisper Heroic where you do a configuration run, then a separate run to actually beat it.

Even if you get to the vault at 2 minutes left, even with say only two fireteam members, they can easily start the process on their own until you get there. Console 2 guy may just need to do a little more running. Every time you lock a terminal, you get ~12 seconds added to you time.

I wish I had more suggestions for the actual jumping puzzle outside. Just a practice thing I think.

I've noticed this (and maybe in general)... Warlock really does seem to be heavily favored. For this I wish I could do that floating. I've watched in envy.

Without Stomps it would be out of the question. Even Whisper would have been quite a tall order without the Stomps.

I really wish that's the way this could be again across the boards. Then at least I could foul up, take my time and practice, and not ruin it for anyone else.

Practice and timing. I've had commiseration from the other players watching me try and do it as a Hunter while they all float by and seemingly breeze through it.

I've hit a point with Comp that is actually depressing me as I cannot seem to do anything besides bounce between 1600 and 1300 Glory.

The only gun I want in this game (that I don't already have) is Recluse purely for its PvE potential but its starting to look so far away given how close the end of the season is. Sigh.

That's exactly where I'm at. I have a much further climb than you do.

Talk about butt clenching at the end. Watch his whisper ammo and time left once he beats it.

Seems if I want to pray for the osprey I have to hike up my britches to play.

I guess i'll plink at some Gambit stuff in the meantime.
