New teaser out for the FFVII Remake. The trailer indicates more info in June. Looks pretty amazing. As to be expected though, the voice acting is shit.

"As to be expected though, the voice acting is shit."

People really need to get over this idiotic idea that unless something is absolutely, best in the world amazing that it is "shit". The VA was fine. Not amazing, not terrible, just fine.

Idk, I’ve never bought a game because it had top notch VA. As far as qualities of a game go, bad VA is annoying but so long as I can use subtitles and skip the dialog it’s not a deal breaker. A few games have violated that (SWTOR on release comes to mind, was later fixed), but most do that day 1 now.

Will probably not be a Day 1 purchase for me (I don’t do that often), but will probably snag it early after it’s had a chance to get the early reviews out and any knee jerk patches shipped.

I enjoyed the original a good deal, but I am not expecting a second coming of baby gamer Jesus. I’m just hoping for another decent experience.

Like for example the sheer hate on people hate for ME:Andromeda.. I got the game, day 1 (well 3 actually when was available for me to DL) and was flawless (beyond very rare sluggish transition between areas)
Yeh VA and some shaodws/lighting was odd, but was very playable (beyond what specs would have suggested)

Because amount of "hate" they did a rush/hatchet job of patch(s) which broke quite a few mid/end-game questing for me and somehow lost the "magic" from "launch" .. by them making more "defined" it almost made it seem like it was pretending to be "dressed for the occasion" vs being a natural gorgeous like oblivion/skyrm crysis etc were like "on first showing"

anyways.....I likely WILL get "day 1" and will grow accustomed to the gameplay.. very few FF titles have I not played (save for hand-held) but they have to be very very careful when they "up" the graphics and gameplay, is very easy to lose the core base they are truly making it for... example some mario games, legend of mana game and such done "HD" classy like can be a very awesome and profound "this is the way it was meant to be, so cool"

So far, if they keep that "feel" they got going and really amp up the base from what it was to expanded what it is (without fk with materia grid et al) with maybe even more end game stuff (not kill weapons once and basically might as well be done with game

Am Impressed and likely will be stoke to get it and creaming at the pants playing it ..

Ryzen 2 / Navi is gonna love me long time, my built by me "house" come mid June if all keeps going on the track I have set into motion mid February.

right after 37th birthday/finding out I graduated my high school with an A- to an A grade (was mega impressed by this ..)

I believe this truly can be a headliner so long as they not tarded like w/e the last FF was and NV pulled their crap with the benchmark test and SquareEnix basically did not much of anything.

Let us hope they are smart enough to ensure is "level playing field" ( doubtful LOL )
^.^

Will be a day 1 purchase for me, in whatever the most expensive collector's edition available, most likely. I also will have to buy a PS4 Pro because I don't want to wait x years for it to hit PC

Was an excellent trailer, and it's going to be a day 1 buy for me as well. The VA is on par with what I'd expect for a FF/Japanese game. It's not awful by any means, but rather intentional with the hasty remarks and over-the-top voice-raising.

JP audio is far better by the way, and both Cloud and Sepiroth sound more natural with the JP voice actors:

Known Sony exclusive with no end date like Bloodborne.

It was announced as "Playstation first" four years ago. There was no mention of it never going to other platforms down the road. Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, they paid From Software to develop it, that is why it will never be on another company's platform.

They stated in 2015 it's a playstation exclusive, that has not changed.

Meh at this point. Give a remake of VI please. Honestly nothing by SE gets me excited anymore. Almost everything they been releasing the past 10 years has been underwhelming.

My only hope is for a completely new, competent translation. It's fun to jack off to FF7 nostalgia, but when you look at it as an adult you see how pretty much all of the dialogue is awkwardly phrased and/or completelely nonsensical.

"This guy are sick." needs to stick around though.

still wish this was just the original game with awesome new graphics.

If you just want the original game with better graphics get the PC version and apply mods.

FF7's plot was a mess, it really needs some reworking and expanding. I'm hoping they include Crisis Core stuff in the remake. They don't need to put the entire CC game, but it would be really cool if they show some of the big plot points from that game and use it to further expand Cloud and Aerith's stories. Something like that would fit in great when Cloud is in the lifestream, getting his memories back in order.

mods are not the same.

No, but they create the essential version of FF7, especially the one that fixes a lot of the translation issues. When it comes to remakes, I prefer if developers work on the issues of the game they are remaking and expand on things that didn't work or were rushed in the original. If it is just the same game but made pretty then I don't see the point.

It's been so long now, but I remember playing a PSP exclusive... Was pre-Cloud stuff, whole thing was focused on Zack. Was that CC? I can't remember, but I do remember it filling in lots of backstory and plot issues.

Yep, that was Crisis Core.

I remember that and also other stuff where they came out and said it wasn't actually going to end up on other platforms later.

It's really a moot point anyways as their target audience for this is Japanese gamers and Playstation fanboys and outside of hentai rape simulators neither of those groups is on the PC. I'd prefer multiplatform but I'm not counting on it.

This is sort of where I fall on them. I haven't been impressed by their post 16bit games. I wanted a remake of VI, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Seikendentsatsu 3, and Bahamut Lagoon.... but after they multi platform Mana remake I'm not so sure anymore.

You should just admit that you were wrong instead of trying to put up more defenses for your statement because it shows you really have no clue what you are talking about.

I would also love a remake of Lunar: Silver Star Story.
Another one? It's already been remade 3 times:
  1. Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (PSX, 1999)
  2. Lunar Legend (GBA, 2002)
  3. Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (PSP, 2010)

I honestly thought this game would be the next Duke Nukem Forever and take 20 years to make. I'm glad there is real progress and it looks really good! It was the first jrpg I ever played so I'm definitely going to be buying this!

My hope is that they will be able to use this same engine (assuming it is good) to remake other FF games at a faster rate.

New leaks are making me this more meh. Cut into two partds with both being $60. First part out later this year. Tuning down Cid's character is lame. Game is going to be a disaster.

I wouldn't put too much faith in leaks. All leaks that have appeared since the trailer are probably fake.

With the way SE been the past 10 years. None of it would suprise me. We will find out at E3 I guess.

I would be surprised if part 1 was out this year. They only pulled the game in-house, and practically started over from scratch, two years ago.

Thinking about it some and sure hope then don't do the two parts. If it is successful it could set a precedent and other companies will start breaking games into two parts and charging $60 for each.

It should be noted that each part (I believe three is the common belief) will be as long as a full game. So if its two parts it will be two full games, if its three it will be three full games. They're not just taking the current plot and splitting that in parts with no changes. SE has said there will be multiple full games, though they've yet to mention how many.

Telltale games did episodic releases. They only charge $60 for a whole season which is usually all 5 episodes.

That is fine since they only charging $60 for the entire season. Not charging $60 for each part.
