Well my phone is only 2(?) generations old, Samsung S8+, but I considering the level of what I do with it now, I would be ok keeping this phone through another 3 generations. However software updates most probably is what will make me change my mind on that as vendors have a practice of slowing phones down accidentally ... on purpose.I fully understand that there is a phone 5 generations old that offers some IP rating vs water. And yes it's planned obsolesence.
Please raise your hand in here if you are using that phone 5 generations old. I for one am not. Mine is only... 2 generations old but lacks a replaceable battery, yet has expandable storage.
I can't wait to see all of the responses from the both of you using a phone 5 generations old because it's water resistant and has a replaceable battery.
I phone, text, take pictures, use the "tools" in it (calculator, maps, etc), and browse the occasional webpage, so the strength of the processor should be more than sufficient for what it is does. Other than software accidentally purposefully slowing it down, replacing the battery would be a nice thing, and sure technically I can do it but it is a major fucking hassle versus adding a memory card. Some of this was due to waterproofing I'm sure, but a lot of it is because they had to make the back all shiny/glass (who fucking came up with that idea... makes me want to take a shit on the grave of Steve Jobs...)
