Found this over on SD - was looking at getting this wheel for a long time, and currently there is a deal for just the wheel on Newegg for around $188, but with shipping and tax it brought the price up too far.

This seems like a better deal, since you also get the shifter which is ~$60 itself. I was charged tax (WA), so for me the total was around $250, but free shipping.

Coupon code: SAVE15

There is also the G920 version if you need Xbox support, but I hear that overall the G29 is better.

Looks like a great deal for the price. I would say pick it up if you are in the market for an entry level racing wheel, this is a great deal. The biggest direct competitor to this wheel is the Thrustmaster T300rs gt, but costs a bit more and doesn't include the shifter, but it is belt driven. Beyond that, things start getting expensive really fast.

I have a g29 that I picked up for about the same price used w/ shifter. Killer wheel and you won't get anything better for the price. Personally suggest you get one of these if you are new to sim racing. Also you can do cheap pedal mods for better brake feel and with a rubber band you can get your shifter to be sequential

Newegg has just the g29 for $188. The shifter is not worth that much

and the shifter for $54

good if you don't want the shifter too but it's about $272 both for me, shipping is $15 and tax is about 17 in MA for everything..

edit - rakuten isn't charging sales tax for MA apparently? comes to
Order Total $234.97
that's pretty damn hot

Do I really need it? Dam deals.

I definitely don't. But I've wanted one for a long time and this seemed like the best deal on it so far.

Now I gotta figure out what games to get. Forza Horizon 4 seems like a good bet.

I got a g25 a while back and I just did not use it that much (maybe 10 hours of use the whole time i owned it). It is fun and that is why I want one but it just ends up sitting and taking space. The resale value is good though so I'm a little torn on whether to get it or not.

if you can get the game cheap it's fun but pretty short lived sadly. forza 7's probably a better option, far less arcadey than horizon 4 and will work better with a wheel. horizon's better with a controller.

Yeh Forza 7 much better option... I just cant get into the Horizon 4 with driving around the country theme stuff...

This was delivered today. Only odd thing about it was that the main box (wheel + pedals) had obviously been opened before (tape was cut), but all of the items were there and everything was bagged and looked new, so who knows. Shifter was sealed as expected.

Now to get it set up and try some games...

Depends on what you want.

Project Cars is good with a nice selection of content. Its not super hardcore, more of a Forza or Gran Turismo.

Assetto is pretty hardcore, if you buy that join racedepartment and check out all the mods and additions to it, so much content out there.

Assetto Competizione is brand new and comes out of early access next month, looks great, handles great, but very limited content. Just GT3 cars and tracks from Blancpain Europe. I'd say worth a buy eventually, but I'd wait for a sale due to limited content. They are doing a bunch of esport competitions with it if thats your thing.

If you want to race other people and go for a real deep dive of hardcore then there's always iRacing. Stupid expensive, but the best competition you'll find.

Thanks for the recommendations. I apparently already had Project CARS (first one) from a Humble Bundle and picked up Assetto Corsa really cheap, so I'll give those a shot and see what I end up liking.
