Ive seen a couple good deals floating around on used gear so I figured Id post up and see if anyone has anything to offload. My wife is rocking a Dell Venue 11 Pro and I want to upgrade her to something better:

>/= i5
>/= 8gb of ram
SSD of some kind
15"+
Preferably something a year'ish old at most.

Just a friendly FYi since you said you haven't bought a laptop in a while.

The jump from 7th gen to 8th gen in Mobile U series processors was insane.

An i3-8130u either matches or occasionally even beats an i7-7500u in damn near every benchmark also the i3-8130u beats the i5-7200u 100% of the time.

An i5-8250u absolutely wrecks an i7-7500u.

It was that much of a jump that the i3 matches the i7. You can Google benchmarks for i7-7500u vs i3-8130u to confirm

The average user that hasn't bought a laptop in a while would normally assume the better purchase is an i7-7500u but that's not the case.

Moral of the story, if you find a good deal on a 7th gen ultrabook. It's not really a good deal lol. Try to find 8th gen if going u series processor.

Funny you say that... Ive been looking at deals on older i5/i7 laptops and now you've thrown a monkey wrench in the mix.
