System has been hitching, games very slow to load - probably due to SSD. How can I check?

I have a 256GB SSD for my C: and a 2TB Micron SSD for my M: Drive (mostly games)

This problem has been slowly coming on, but now it's really bad.

My system pauses and hitches a lot.

Games (Overwatch and Guild Wars 2 plus others) often don't seem to load completely and have invisible or incomplete assets until you wait a long time.

I turned off indexing on my 2TB, but I'm wondering if there is a tool or a check list I can use to go through and check settings and look for problems.

C: has 13GB free
M: has 98GB free

CrystalDiskInfo is a good utility to check it out with.

https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/

Thanks. It shows both drives as 100% Good.

Crystalmark shows this for the 2TB:

What does that 28.07 value mean? Seems really low.

Google shows that's probably a normal ratio/value.

)I don't know your OS or What all you have running on your system or how old the drives are but I doubt it's your ssd's. However if you believe that is the cause then use Crystal Disk Info to chek ALL your drives health that would inculde all internal and external drives attached to your system. again check all data drive connected to your system including USB drives
If you are not using Win10 and even if you are check to make sure garbage collection (TRIM) is enabled. Open a CMD window and type in " fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify " if it is set to "0" Trim is enabled.

If the Micron SSD softrware has a way to enable over provisioning I would use it. SSD performance degrades as a drive nears their capacity, considering how full your drives are I would caution filling them any fuller.
Try a newer version of CDM
[2019/04/22] CrystalDiskInfo 8.1.0
otherwise the drive based on your post is performing well

All that said, I still believe you have another issue or issues.
I recommed you do the following for your OS google if not familiar.
Run maintenance task
Disk defragmentation if you have HDD's not SSD's (again all drives)
Perform a Clean Boot this will disable all but OS specfic software from booting up start a game and see if you still have the issue
Uninstall third party software if the above fixed your problem
Update Graphics Card Drivers do a clean install and use the latest WHQL driver. Nvidia last driver had issues overdriving the CPU make sure you don't have that driver in use
Install drivers in compatibility mode if the above doesn't help or your using W7 or WXP try this.

Thanks, I am running Win10 and generally keep my drivers up to date. I might have that Nvidia driver - will check.

Also, those are my only two drives. I can probably delete some games, I kind of went install crazy when I got the 2TB last year...

Trim is enabled per that command.

what system are you talking about, your sig?

Yes, in my sig - I swapped motherboard to an ROG Maximus Apex IX (Z270) about 6 months ago and the monitors are different, but otherwise the same

Both ssds are past 85% full, you should try dumping some files on both drives and try to see if you still have the issues.

Okay your reply is revealing as is the drive letter for the 2nd drive (M).
I'd bet when you switched mobo you didn''t clean install windows and it obvious you either picked M on purpose or several other drives have been added and removed over time either optical or data drives because typically the next drive would automatically assign "D" for the 2nd drive. Or maybe you have 8 optical drives which is doubtful.
Given all you've said to this point I recommend you clean or repair install windows preferably Clean.
Remove the 2tb drive before install so there is no confusion.
Also before install clear your CMOS by taking the battery out of your motherboard and pressing the start button on the motherborad or case for 30 seconds while battery is out. Don't forget to go back in and set optimized defaults. This will clear the IRQ table which will reset at next boot.
For good measure wipe and reformat the Micron Drive using a live CD or USB drive like Hirens or Ultimate boot drive. This will restore the SSD to near factor condition and should return an "excellent" rating to the Crystal Disk Info report.
You are going to have to reinstall games and programs anyway, if you take my advice, so Bite the bullet, backup what you need to, buy a cheap drive or rent cloud storage if you have to, just do it if you want all things running smoothly again.

It's a pretty old install - several years. I was considering a clean install, but it's such a pain. Probably time to do it though...
