Once upon a time, they talked to each other. I could look up shares on any of the Win 10 boxes and see the Linux shares, but it was always easier the other way around.

Now, the Win 10 boxes see the Linux shares, but ask for a password, so I enter the only one I know that has been setup.
Nope. No password I enter works.

From the Linux box, It sees the shares, but unable to access location.

It's frustrating. I have Googled it, tried some of the "fixes", maybe it works for the time being then bam, herpes. It never works again.

All I want to do is transfer files between the systems, maybe map a drive. It'd be nice to be able to have some Plex redundancy.

So thoughts fellas.... burn it all down and go straight Linux except for one box for gaming? I doubt I do that, but tempted.

I need this to work someday. I spend more time on my Linux box for internet and light gaming, Plex serving and mostly use the win 10 boxes for Steam, cartoon making and one as a Plex server backup.

What am I missing?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I got tired of dealing with shares between different OS's, whether it was w7, or w10 and Linux.

So I bought an external drive that connects via network cable. I've never been happier. There are many levels of NAS out there, and most support Plex as well. I know my crappy 2TB WD MyCloud does.

Sorry I couldn't help, but in my experience one small change in an update can completely stop shares from working and I got tired of reinstalling windows to solve the issue.

The issue was never on the Linux side.

I have thought of that as well, but have issues even accessing a drive on the router. I had a WD nas once upon a time. It bellied up and I shucked the drive. It's in my Ubuntu box with a couple of other WD reds.

I know it's on the Windows side, Just can't figure how to undo MS crap to make it happy

theres a check box t to turn on for smbv1 it fixed my issues with not seeing my unraid box. cant rember what its under at the moment.

enable smbv1 again. Microsoft again decided it knows what you are doing better than you and disabled it automatically a few updates back.

This is the main reason i hate MS, they always think they know best and show no respect to the user and the users system/network configuration.

That very well could be it. Updates,

When I get back to my computers Saturday eve. I will cuss at them some more
