HOT - Dell S2825cdn Multifunction Color Laser Printer $150 shipped!

I'd bet there will be more of these deals.

It's the same marketing model they've used for years with inkjet printers.
Give the printers away and then make a killing on the ink cartridges.

They just count on most people not using the cheap non-OEM generic ink & toner cartridges.

.

If they want to count on that, they need to make the toner NOT cost $400! When the generic toner is $50 for a set...hell, I'd probably pony up three times that--$150--for the 'blessed' toner. But four hundred dollars?!

Quill took down the link to the S2825CDN printer weeks ago which so I find it funny Staples has it but Quill no longer does (Staples owns Quill). Grab a Staples coupon off Ebay for a couple bucks and shave another $20-30 off the price (Nothing in coupon restrictions seems to rule out Dell printers). Not quite as good as the $150 deal, but very unclear if we will ever get another bite of that apple. I'd probably jump on this if I missed out on the original deal.

14 months, 152 pages later and the printer is dead. 062-380 code on the scanner which prevents the printer from working. Dell shows $186.55 to extend the warranty online which fails, on the phone they say they can't extend the warranty and I can't find parts for the scanner.

What firmware revision are you using? Maybe there is a fix? Latest is Version 20180912.0649, A09

Link --> Printer_H625_H825_S2825_Firmware_Dell_A09_WIN

I'm also going strong ~400 pages with black toner 3/4 way gone.

Looks like I am also due for a firmware update... currently running Version 201802280649 :cautious:

Unrelated. But has anyone been able to produce quality scans. Mine are all washed out, and yes, I did use the color calibration from the admin panel. Please see attachment for example of washed out scan. Any help would be appreciated.

I am on the same firmware as you, 201802280649. Tried updating to the latest but isn't taking it.

062-380 seems to be a common error on Dell and Xerox printers. On the Dell ones it seems to come up shortly after the warranty is up. Only fix I am seeing is replacing some parts in the scanner. I am taking a chance on a scanner assembly for an H825cdw which is hopefully close enough to work. Hate to give up what was a nice printer and the extra toners I bought for it especially when I tossed out the still working printer this replaced a month ago.

Dang bro, keep us posted!!!

nice printer... I got the Dell E525 a year ago for $115 and it is a very nice printer

I can confirm the scanner assembly from an H825cdw works on the s2825cdn. I did have to reuse my ADF, not sure if the issue I was seeing was the replacement ADF being bad, missing parts or the replacement ADF being rev A0 vs A1.

The control panel from the H825cdw also appears to work. It has one extra cable which the s2825cdn has a plug for, not sure what it does.

No deal with Quill.

Yeah, no coupon for me and I ended up just cancelling the order.

Placed an order using the coupon code by adding an additional item to get to over $175.00. My invoice shows the total amount was $151 plus $11.50 tax. So I was confused when my CC was hit for over $190 from Quill. Called in and was told it was my fault and I should have known the coupon I used was not valid. The C/S rep wanted to argue with me about the printer already being on sale and told me I was already getting a deal. Normally I would have agreed and just sucked up the $25 but this C/S rep was a jerk about it. The extra item I ordered was out of stock (was never told) so somebody decided to just substitute some random item I never ordered in its place.

So Quill denied the coupon, sold me an item I never ordered, cancelled an item I did order, hit my CC for more than the invoice price and then had attitude when I contacted them about the order.

As always, YMMV.

Sounds rather unethical. Think I'll pass and add Quill to my never buy list. Thanks for sharing your experience.

So I'm going to go ahead and post my bad ending to this deal, although this is a bit of a necro at this point.

I got this error code very suddenly when trying to scan something:
062-380

I will note that this printer came with (something that I didn't know until a tad after warranty because I never used the feature) some cracked glass on the feeder part of the scanner (the main glass of the scanner was fine, just that little inch or so wide strip for the document feeder to use). But otherwise it'd been working great... for several months, too; it's not like this started after I discovered the crack. In fact the feeder worked fine, too; there would just be a small grey line on the printout.

I now can't print anything, I can't scan anything, I can't do anything with it. It's literally dead weight.

Some searching around pointed me to this thread:
https://www.dell.com/community/Printers/H625cdw-scanner-error-code-062-380/td-p/6090948

Where I discovered that not only was this practically unsolvable but:
- Dell is probably not going to help.
- All parts are likely out of stock
- This scanner error locks down the entire printer
- Most reports happen shortly after warranty is out

So yeah. I'm a tad livid at the moment. But there's my pitch in and warning in case any of this Dell office trash comes up again. It's just anecdotal, sure, but I just wasted 150$ for a printer that only lasted a little over a year.

OMFG I bought this around Jan 31, 2018. I maybe printed 30 pages max and scanned 10 documents max and it's dead because of the 062-380 error. I cannot do anything. Fuck this.

Mine is just sitting in the corner of my office.. Hoping that somehow a miracle happens and we get a fix in the future.. lol..

After my last post in this thread about having poor scans I ended up having a 065-225 error. I got lucky and manged to stop this error from appearing by cleaning the scanner, resetting to factory defaults and clearing the NVRAM. This made the printer function but two sided scanning was / is borked. However, I can still scan one sided from the flatbed and document tray along with having the ability to print. I didn't find much information when searching the dell site but xerox has a similar model (WorkCentre 6515).

TONER

Printer comes with starter toner cartridges (1200 Color, 1500 Black). Best deal I have found going for full toner (2500 Color, 3000 Black) can be found here...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Pack-Toner-Set-for-Dell-H625cdw-H825cdw-S2825cdn-H625-H825-S2825-593-BBOW/391696944402?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

If you or a family / friend's MFP is long in the tooth or it's just time for an upgrade, you will be hard pressed to find one with specs / duty cycle like this for UNDER $300 much less $150 shipped!

**NOTE** Be sure and flash the firmware to the latest A06 (see link below). My brothers out of the box (01-21-18) was out of date (A05).

If it hasn't been stated these printers last just over a year and fail and there is zero support for them. I know I bought one. And yes its dead.

I don't know, I've had mine since Jan of 18 and it hasn't failed once. Could be a fluke but it's still going strong.
