Sorry not sure if this belongs here or in General Hardware or something..

My Avermedia Live Gamer HD (C985) was bricked attempting to run Avermedia's firmware update software (stupid me for even trying), the software just constantly went back to 0% and the card was toast.. I'm not the first victim.

Anyway, since they aren't being helpful at all, I want to buy something new. My requirements are 1. Not avermedia and 2. 1080P 60FPS and preferably onboard h264 encoding hardware.

I have my eye on the Elgato HD60 pro for $160~ on amazon.. Is there anything that would do what I'm asking for a bit less heft on the pricetag? Or should I go ahead and get the Elgato?

The HD 60 has been good for me. I have it along with the live gamer 2 and the live gamer 4k and I'll be honest the hd60 doesn't warrent the El gato premium imho. I did get the El gato for $120 on the FS forum though so maybe see if you can get it for cheaper?

I went with the elgato premium unfortunately since I needed something to work with. Avermedia has literally ignored my last two messages so there's not a chance in hell I'll buy from them again.. that really only leaves unbranded chinese cards and extremely epensive magewells as far as I could tell..

Thanks though, the elgato is good enough, though that gameview feature is too stuttery for me to enjoy, its good for streaming and recording.

I hadn't seen this thread until today when I was searching for some Magewell references. I've got a couple of the ElGato HD60 Pro cards that both work great, but don't attempt to put multiple HD60 cards in the same chassis - it simply doesn't work. Thought I could get away with that when I first started messing around with streaming and was never able to make it work. Ended up getting the ElGato Cam Link / USB 3.0 device to facilitate another feed into my PC at that time, but eventually started using Magewell Quad HDMI Pro cards since they support up to four feeds in simultaneously on a single slot.

Wish I had seen this though earlier...I'd have saved you a few dollars getting that HD60 Pro.
