Radeon VII Owner's Club!

Really tempted to get one of these for my racing PC, but I needs more monitor outputs :(

Hopefully AIBs will come out with some more ports (looking at you Gigabyte, since you were the only one who did with Vega)

Unfortunately not, main monitors are 3x https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/210-ardc?SpecialEventsProductID=2a7g

4th monitor is some ancient Samsung thing I had in the closet heh, then the HMD needs an HDMI

worst case I could get an HDMI switcher or just crawl back and swap plugs between the HMD and 4th monitor, then I only need 4 outs instead of 5.

Thats a bit crazy lol...You and I have very similiar rigs (performance wise with a slight edge in loop capacity to you) so I know what kind of performance you would get. It's money well went IMO. I do not believe we are going to see "big" Navi until CES of next year.

I need some serious help. So far, I am not happy with the new Radeon VII. I primarily play PUBG and it crashes literally every round, sometimes multiple times a round. I have been trouble shooting my PC for the last 2 week and can't get PUBG to stop crashing. Windows is up to date, my video drivers are up to date, the card is not over-clocked, everything worked fine on my previous RX 590. The only major change I have done to my computer the last few weeks is swapping the RX 590 (which I did run over-clocked) to the new Radeon VII. Do any of you other Radeon VII owner's play PUBG a lot and if so, does is constantly crash? I am about to return my Radeon VII and go back to my RX 590.

Make sure to use DDU in safe mode to uninstall the video drivers and then install new ones fresh.

It may be worth *not* installing the latest driver, you can go back one or two versions to see if there is any difference (use DDU each time).

Also, what do you mean by "crash"? You said it crashed multiple times per round, but wouldn't one crash exit the game?

By crash I mean the game exits, like you said. My game will freeze for a second then quit and take me back to desktop. I have to click PLAY in Steam to reconnect...every time.

I'd glady buy the Radeon VII off your hands :)

Could be something was simple as rebooting a cable modem if you are playing online. My streams were crashing until I rebooted my modem. Definitely check everything, DDU drivers and reinstall.

I rebooted my modem and ran DDU in safe mode then reinstalled the latest drivers. I just played 8 rounds of PUBG and it only crashed twice. It's an improvement but still crashing. PUBG doesn't tell you what caused the crash either, at least not that I have seen.

Might be related, when I got my second 2080 Ti card (first one was RMA'd) I was getting games crashing to desktop often, on any game. Sometimes within 1 minute, sometimes 10 or 15 minutes in.

After trying almost everything (including replacing the PSU), I discovered that the RAM overclock was what was causing the problem. I set it to the default (2667, I believe) and that stopped the crashing.

I did tweak lots of settings, so it may have been other stuff as well, but somehow the RAM overclock that was working before no longer worked after replacing the video card. Maybe give you some ideas.

I’ve had the same dealio with system ram in the past. Had to drop my 5960x from 2400 to 2133 and my 2700x from 3200 to 2933. Both worked flawlessly after that.

+1 on setting your Ram to super safe timings/speed and retest.

On my sig rig— Battletech would CTD every 10-15 mins. All other games / use cases worked fine. Even after passing mem test etc no luck. After re doing my ram settings to be less aggressive bingo. CTD stopped.

Good luck and hopefully you get it sorted

I dropped my RAM from 3200 to 3133 and played quite a few rounds tonight with no crashes. I'll play some more tomorrow night to verify. I hate that it's the RAM. I was running it 2933 with my previous RX 590 but eventually got it stable at 3200. Then I got the Radeon VII and left it at 3200 but I guess I have to drop it back again. :(

When I had the issue, I set RAM lower speed for about a week to make sure it was working.

Then set it back to full speed but with a bit more voltage and it's been good since then.

Leave it as is to see if that is actually the issue first, but you can probably tweak it later if need be.

I am running my 3600 MHZ ram as 3600 MHZ, as per the profile, but just to be on the safe side i have bumped up the voltage too, though it should not really be necessary.
Bumping the voltage ( CPU - RAM - N bridge) should always be the first thing to try if you have instability on a moderate OC system on air or water, as i find it rare that you are on the ragged voltage edge with such systems, thats more the case for the silly extreme overclocking.

I just switched too, sold my beasty radeon VII for good cause :) helped out good firefighter/Ems gentlemen

Bought Sapphire Radeon VII $679, i would of bought 50th Radeon VII, but im putting waterblock on Radeon VII.

New system
Asus Crosshair VII x470 /w Ryzen 5 2600 / 16gb ddr4 3000 15cl / radeon VII /w waterblock.

Im so very excited

Will post pictures soon

Not super impressed with the Bykski block. Chinese craftsmanship lives up to the sterotype yet again.

I wrongly assumed Bykski was a Polish company.... EK for me from here on out. But it should work. I hope lol.

Also this card has star screws holding the heatsink on. Damn you AMD.

Hey, I bought same one, and well have share pictures, i didnt have 200 spend on waterblock, i will get one tho.

The craftsman ship was pretty good on mine, they could of lapped gpu part. But well see how it goes

This is my new little guy!

It’s been working really well tbh. I applied extra paste to contact the sides of the die as well. Went a little nuts with it. I personally found going a little nuts with the thermal paste helped my temperatures more than the “normal” amount. Apparently this thing has 80+ (can’t remember the exact amount) temp sensors around the die and the highest reported temp is what is reported as the “junction temp”. Extra paste around the edges helped with that specifically even though the top of the die looked completely covered when I removed the heat sink.

Thank you for heads up, its reason i used ton on first Radeon VII, I installed my sapphire Radeon VII and its samsung memory. Not like other kind when i bought it direct from amd.com

I tested my water loop and everything over night pulled al nighter ha! I cant wait get this card under water.

Ryzen 5 2600 and x470 and Radeon VII play very nice together.

Got my sapphire Radeon VII yesterday, will post pictures,

My new Radeon VII memory is Samsung.

I did some benching and stress testing, heres my Radeon VII vcore 1.025v / core 1800 / memory oced 1150

Installing the waterblock tonight, Will post pictures in coming days.

So excited get my Radeon VII under water!!! Feel like im 12 years old lol

This be my first cumtom water loop,

Almost at 14 hours running loop, spent up all night, if it leaks I'd catch in time,

Had cut alittle hole in back fan 140mm, i spent 3-4 hours setting up loop,

No leaks so far! Heres some pictures of gpu water block, and my setup.

I got custom loop love now! Its amazing! Scary at first.

Cant wait see preformance of Radeon VII!! My word of day excited!!

Pictures time!!

Gpu Radeon VII @ 1.9ghz

Reading on GPU-Z and Cpuid hardware monitor pro, Radeon VII /w pulls 366 watts, while stressing and benching

Water Cooling has changed my view on gaming, temps, noise, Paid $160 for water cooling set on forums here and $140 on Radeon VII waterblock

Not to shabby, i must say

question about which version of HBM2 is preferred on this card.. I see these cards come with either samsung or hynix HBM... which is the better / more preferred manufacture?

My First Radeon VII had hynix and my new sapphire Radeon VII has samsung,

Samsung mem generally o/c better then hynix, but pushing core speed is where benfits come in, when i get other Ekwb PE 360mm rad, im pushing my beasty Radeon VII almost to her limits

i have your 1st RVII.. LOL Shes sitting stable @ 1200MHz so I cant ask for anything more then that... not even going to try anything faster as it isnt needed

This cards beast, playing Anthem last night for 4 hours,

Check my gpu-z and hardware monitor,l after playing anthem 4k@60hz, this radeon VII is beasty, core clock hit 2.1ghz. Memory hit 1250mhz,

Max temps gpu 61c ,max hotspot 90c GPU-Z and hardware monitor, gpu wattage is 366 watts.

Will post pictures later :D

Im really loving Radeon VII and waterblock.

This card definitely needs watercooling to shine,

Welp I finally pulled the trigger on upgrading my R9 290, and bought a Radeon VII 50thAE along with 3 of these so we shall see how it goes...

Probably will try to build a full custom loop for this rig later this year when I upgrade the cpu/mobo/ram. Going to wait till Zen 2 drops and see how it all pans out.

You won't regret Radeon VII, i highly recommend doing custom loop,

My Radeon VII o/c's 2000-2100 core and vcore sits 1.050.

I've learned core speed makes biggest performance increases, memory already maxxed with hbm2 and 4096-bit memory bus

Yeah right now my CPU and GPU are each under AIO's (3930K under an H100 and 290 under an H60) and I will probably convert the whole thing to a full custom loop when I do the cpu upgrade. Been a long time since I have had a custom loop -- last was back in the Core 2 days. Just going to run the VII on the stock cooler for the time being but I will definitely overclock it as much as I can.
