Assassin's Creed III Remastered - performance issues.

Despite its flaws AC3 remains my favorite of the series, so when I saw that a remastered version was out I bought it before considering it might run like garbage that no amount of tweaking and quality reductions could fix.

My hardware (8700k, 1070, 16GB) is aged, but surely not so decrepit that it can't run an old game with some new textures at a reasonable framerate, so I'm wondering if any others have encountered similar performance problems with this game.
