you guys don't know your SW history..."The force is strong in my family. My father has it, I have it, my sister has it...You have that power too"...that line was spoken by Luke to Leia in Return of the Jedi

I know, that's why I said its suggested. The new generations wouldn't know about the original trilogy hence not know the reference.

No it isn't. The line from Jedi is "The force is strong in my family. My father has it, I have it, my sister has it." The extra "You have that power too" is NOT from Jedi.

Wasn't a fan of the last 2 movies, but the simple fact that JJA consulted Lucas himself as to how to wrap this up has me curious enough to see this.

Could be the most epic train wreck ever. ;)

Eh they bringing Palpatine back?

So is he a super radiated sith or something now? I seem to remember him being thrown down some kind of reactor tube in Death Star #2... Right before the Rebel Alliance blew it to pieces... again... The entire saga is one big circle jerk of rehashing old ideas, because "you liked it the first time right?"

I bet they pulled the "insane Emperor clones" from the Zahn books, which was a minor villain compared to Thrawn's artistic villainy.

For me, I think Star Wars kinda died after ep3 with the "Noooooo"... I seem to recall jumping right into WoW after watching that movie and joined in with everyone else chanting "Noooo" in trade chat. Good times.

I probably would have watched the newer Star Wars movies if it wasn't for the fact that they scrapped Zahn's books in favor of a more "Politically relevant" story line. If I want to watch political drama unfold, I will turn on CNN or Faux news... last place I want to see it is in a classic story of simple good vs. evil.

Edit: Well to be fair the "original" storyline was also heavily influenced by Cold War era politics... but that was seriously scary shit with the threat of nuclear war looming, not bitching about who's feeling are being hurt and the repression of minorities and women.

you're wrong...go pop in the DVD/Blu-ray...Luke says 'you have that power too' to Leia in that same scene...the trailer just took that line out of sequence to make it appear to reference Rey

If Boba Fett can survive the sarlac pit and Darth Maul can survive getting cut in half and falling down a pit, then the Emperor can survive the fall he had as well.

Di$ney may as well go full retard now, pink pussy helmets and solar panels on x-wings. The force is weak with desperation. I'll stick with the old books and games when I crave a SW fix, still a few I haven't read. A neural upscale texture mod was released for Dark Forces. Besides, GoT starts Sunday!

you literally posted a video of the scene and you still can't hear Luke say that line???...hint: try watching a few seconds before your self imposed 1:44 marker...like I said the line was taken out of sequence

My bad. I misunderstood what you said about "out of sequence"....meaning that they took the "you have that power too" out of the original sequence dialogue.
They added it to the end of the original sequence for the TFA trailer.

I have never been so disinterested in Star Wars that I haven't even bothered to watch this teaser. And that makes me really sad.

Don't forget the explosion of the Death Star #2 as well.

The explanation how these people can survive is kinda dumb and a total reversal for Disney movie philosophies.

From Starwars.com: "Thought dead, Darth Maul survived his injuries by focusing on his hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi who cut him in half. His shattered body was dumped amid the refuse of the junk planet Lotho Minor, where the once deadly warrior fell into madness, staying alive on a diet of vermin."

Emperor Palpatines new Sith slogan: "The Death Star was merely a Setback, Hatred conquerors all, even death! So join the Dark side!

Honestly, the Disney acquisition of Star Wars made everything more convoluted than a comic universal reboot.

I'll see Ep IX but won't go out of my way for it. All of the new SW movies I saw free on opening day through work vendors.

It really bugs me how badly they 'broke' Star Wars. It was such a rich property with infinite potential and they completely salted the whole galaxy.

When I heard the panting before the opening scene, I was really hoping Adam Driver was giving it to Daisy Ridley.

Since they trashed star wars with the last 6.movies and killed.the franchise.. can someone write a new movie that's way better then star wars before I'm dead?

The first 3 were magical.. ofcourse hard to watch now.

Can someone make a real star wars movie the way it should be and put it up on youtune/Netflix?

Dark and horrific were bad guys are real scary bad guys.. not whimps.

The story in Star Wars was always pretty thin anyways. Its a fantasy movie, not sci fi. It never had the intelligence of a proper sci fi film and never will. That being said yes, the last movie did suck.

I'll still watch this because I'll probably be entertained but I doubt it will come close to being one of my favorite films over the past few years.

Yes, like the dark and horrific movie about a bunch of teddy bears fighting space nazis. Or maybe the one where a British droid yucks it up all the time while the rest of the cast banters. There has never been a "dark and horrific" Star Wars film. Empire had dark moments, but it never crossed into horrific. Not even close.

Well I seem to recall there was one story, maybe comics, all of this predates Disney's acquisition or even the prequels, that the Emperor had clones that could transfer his "essence" into. And considering the idea of Clones does exist with Palpatine around at the time (his whole army is a clone), it's not that far of a stretch that a super strong Sith guy can do something like that.

i would love it if someone came along and wiped all this crap out and restored the original storylines.

never gonna happen... but id love it.

It's 2019, so I should probably post a 45-minute video of myself complaining about how I hate every detail of this. It is, of course, prefaced with a 20-minute explanation of how I'm a superfan and am therefore especially qualified to complain.

That only works if you have a Neck beard and cheeto stains on your shirt.

Novels. Palpatine was continuing research into immortality started by his mentor, Darth Plaguesis. Something that even the prequels hinted at with Palpatine talking to Anakin about Plagueis.

But does it really ever end? Lol

Disney gona wana capitalize on star wars and with there new themed park crap I'm sure there will be more!

Disney said there will be a movie hiatus after this. They didn't say how long, but I doubt we'll see any more SW movies until 2021-2022 at the earliest. It probably depends on what they're going to go with next. Rian Johnson's trilogy is probably both a ways off and under heavy scrutiny so the next SW movie series might be the one of D.B. Weiss and David Benioff and that is probably 2-3 years away since they can't devote all their time to it until Game of Thrones is finished.

All this mumbo jumbo about how good or bad these movies are... Seriously, people? Star Wars has always been bad, but people have always loved it regardless. Why are you expecting... whatever it is you're hoping for? 40 years, people. 40 YEARS have gone by, with people piling onto how bad Star Wars is. But you know what? People still love it. People still watch it. People are still fans. So I'll just chuckle at all these posts, just as I have for posts boohooing all the other movies. And people will still go see them, just as they have for the other 8 Skywalker movies. Yawn...
