The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

Just picked up all the DLC from holiday sales and haven't touched this game since the Pirate DLC first released last year and it appears quite a bit has changed since I last killed Terramorphous. So if there's anyone out there feeling charitable...I could make use of a Legendary Commando Class mod. Will also accept any extra weapons or gear to help me along the way.

Youre missing out if you havent played Tiny Tina's assault on dragon keep. Best DLC of the series. Mr Torgue's was also decent

Really? God I cannot stand that character, she is so annoying. Is it really that good? I thought the General Knoxx for BL1 was really good.

have a free VH1 key to whoever wants it. I recently bought GOTY and mistakenly bout VH from GMG instead of VH 2 so I'll give it away to the first person to PM me and still needs it.

Anyone still reading this thread? I could use a little advice. I'm trying to get back to Sanctuary after it's been teleported and I've gone through the frigid cavern to the place with the teleporting monsters. And I can't get through them. They're too tough to fight and if I try and run through them I get hit by the robots. I'm level 17 and I'm thinking that I need to be a few levels higher. Am I right?

BL2 level progression is somewhat broken IMO. Look at your mission list and do them all going from easiest to hardest. Also go into the DLCs. The regular weapons are shit, seems you have to go into the DLC for decent weapons.

Yeah it does require a bit grinding, or power leveling between lvl 10 and 20 or so depending on your build. That, and spending some golden keys on purple gear.
I have found it is easiest to just join a friend 10+ lvs above you, and just go into a high violence area for an hour, without doing missions, is usually enough to get you a few extra lvls without screwing up your game or over leveling. Just be prepared to die a lot. But the higher level loot will help pad your bank account a bit too when you go back to your own game.

Well, I did grind a bit and went up a few levels and got better gear, then I came back and got through that. Trackballs truly suck at precision pointing. And I've conquered the Warrior and farmed him a few times - it is actually ridiculously easy: just hide under the bridge and scoot out when the lava rises. The most difficult monster in that level is the the BadAss Constructor! So now I'm at the stage where all the upgrades cost 50+ Eridium.

If I switch to True Vault Hunter mode, will Eridium drop more often? And are the currently locked travel locations unlocked in that mode or are they placeholders for DLC?

So I'm trying TVHM and verily I suck and keep dying, but I do enjoy the game. I'm level 40 and can't get past the Assassinate the Assassins mission. I think I need more powerful weapons. My elemental SMGs do ~500 damage base. Which DLCs should I get to play in normal mode?

I didn't bother with the DLCs though I bought them and used some golden keys to get better weapons. I've beaten the game and am level 53 with all Eridium upgrades, and can farm Terramorphous in Normal mode. I have The Bee and a 10K pistol @ 10 shots per second (so I do 400K damage per second before slag) and a +30% Health relic which helps me survive when I do get hit. I still die if I get lazy or cocky, of course. How much more difficult is it in TVH mode, and how much better is the loot? I often run low on ammo.

I'm not about to go through the campaign again in UVH mode. BTW in Normal mode, the Warrior barely has time to breathe!

I'm finally getting around to playing BL2, having just spent a few hundred very fun hours getting BL1 out of my backlog.

Amongst my initial tweaking, I find comments that having PhysX turned up to Medium or High will cause loot to drop through the ground, and lots of it, so I can have either pretty graphics or more loot. It seems to be an unfixable feature of the Unreal Engine 3 used in BL2. I don't seem to find it mentioned here on HardOCP so I thought I'd bring it up for those who didn't know.

And even though I ran a small sample of 20 runs (at BNK3r) ...

10 with PhysX turned to High
10 with PhysX turned to Low

The results were obvious:

With PhysX set to Low, in 10 runs I had ZERO items drop through the floor down to the second level and ZERO items fell halfway into the upper floor with barely a tail sticking out

With PhysX set to the normal High, in 10 runs I had 106 items fall through the floor to the lower level and 87 items stay on the upper level but with tails barely sticking out of the upper floor having fallen in halfway...at least the ones I could count.

ahh Borderlands... many a hour spent there. haven't played in a while might have to again. Stopped playing as when I tried to go through in UVHM it seemed to be stupidly hard.... on minute it was fine, the next one hit and fight for your life. So much so that even friends that joined in on my games mentioned it to me wondering why in the world mine is harder??? when I join theirs it isn't nearly as hard or bad!

I started to wonder if it was an anti-cheat measure as I downloaded the game save editor to allow my daughter to be able to play around the same level as me... I haven't edited my save though (I'm only level 54 I think...if I did edit to cheat I would be at lvl 72 with everything lol)

Well, its called Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode for a reason. :) Its supposed to absurdly hard, because fans whined for a long time that they wanted a NG++. GBX doesn't care about save editing. I'd warn against save editing for other reasons though - namely that it will ice the game - meaning your interest level will drop off a cliff once you go down that road.

Same goes for those trolls that join your game and spew 1000 legendaries out of their inventory. They're not helping you, they're trying to ruin your game. Play the game the way its meant to be played and you'll be in good hands. If UVHM is too much of a pain in the ass then either stick to co-op in it, or roll a new character and start over.

In UVHM you really need to run a proper build with your character. You can't really just use whatever weapon/skills/class mod and expect to faceroll the content. Check out some builds/gear for your character specifically for UVHM and see if that helps.

Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel are getting free 4K texture packs

Announced at today's Borderlands panel at PAX East 2019, Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel are each getting an Ultra HD texture pack as a free download...they'll redo textures across the game, from characters and vehicles to weapons and environments...the pack won't just include textures, though—it'll add some extra graphical touches, like higher resolution dynamic shadows, improved Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, and better anti-aliasing...they'll arrive for both games on April 3rd...

anyone try the new Ultra HD Texture Pack?...does it make a noticeable improvement in terms of visuals?

It definitely looks sharper/cleaner and the new update makes the game run noticeably smoother, but I'm a bit suspicious as to why it's smoother. There seems to be a lack of particle effects (PhysX?). I can't confirm because I don't have the pre-update game, but I swear something about the particle effects is lacking. I see some other posts on the Steam forums regarding this as well.

I played Pre-Sequel and I think PhysX is the same there, it looks similar and I was able to get the game to slow down by blowing up enough stuff, yep, that's the Borderlands + PhysX that I know.

Check the WillowGame.ini file and see if what the "MaxParticleResize=X" is It should be set to "0" for High, if its anything else than its been tweaked, or you don't have your Physx settings on High.

I found that in WillowEngine.ini, it's set to 0.

I should just record what I'm seeing. When I shoot enemies, they disappear and a few gibs pop out, it looks ridiculous. I don't wanna install GeForce Experience!

with W10 you can just enable the Game Bar to take screenshots and videos...

You don't have to install Gefarce experience to take screenshots. Just use "Print Screen" on your keyboard or use Rivatuner.

Windows key + G brings the Game bar up.

Amazing they put work in to a free DLC to bridge story to BL3, instead of just a short cutscene in beginning of BL3 "here's what happened after BL2".

I'll be damned if I can find any of my old BL2 saves.

BL was probably one of the first looter shooters that did it all so very well. Been so many years... that I think they want to remind people... example also being free BL1 remaster.

The remaster is great! I only just started it with my daughters (right after it was released) but what I played was exactly what it needed. The refinements of BL2, but with the grittier BL1 game. Looking forward to playing this new DLC too. I think we've played through Tiny Tina's D&D inspired DLC and Captain Scarlett's DLC about 5-6 times now because we wanted to keep playing. :D

It's a testament to how good Borderlands really is as a game, and the replayability it has. They released DLC for a 7 year old game, and remastered it. I don't know of any other game that has gotten this kind of treatment.

Holy hell, how did this completely slip by me? BL1 one of my favorite of all time, and it got stealth-updated to a remastered version with some QoL features from BL2. Amazing. Gotta try it out tonight.
