Space debris from India's anti-sattelite test threatens ISS

Please don't piss off Russia, Italy, and Germany...

Now that is an interesting article. I didn't see the note about what happened when the US and other mentioned nations did a similar test. Was it before the Space Station was up?

New job posting-Space garbage man. Actually there are satellites proposed to snag, harpoon debris in orbit and eject the debris into the atmosphere.

Space X and Elon Musk should launch a Street Sweeper on space to clean up the trash.

This was my first thought as soon as I heard India was conducting this test. Maybe they could divert some of the resources they've allocated to putting junk in Earth's orbit to, oh, I don't know cleaning up the fucking Ganges or something

we better get these things cleaned up before one decides to destroy the world

Fuck it, just blow everything up in space already and make it all cloudy up there, the human race is a failed experiment anyway.

How fucking stupid could they be... Not like we didn't figure out this was a dumb-ass thing to do back when China did it in 2007. Shit from the Chinese 'test' are still in orbit.

The US's test:
The U.S. has also used its own satellites for target practice, shooting one down in 1985. It did so again in 2008, when a highly classified reconnaissance satellite malfunctioned shortly after reaching orbit. All of the debris from those tests is believed to have eventually fallen safely out of orbit.

It sounds like the India test only created about 10 days worth of danger, so not as bad as what China did. Still... According to their calculations all of the debris would clear from the area known as low Earth orbit within 45 days.

Can the international community collectively sue India for the cost of replacement of the space station?

Didn't someone tried to do something when they launched those mini-sat not long ago?
Don't see what's the point, not like they have too.

Thats what happens when you strap donkeys to rockets
