Destiny 2

The gambit one will surprise you. I think the only times I went into Gambit with the intent of completing one of the Triumphs was the Protect the Runner and maybe the match where you had to win using all Gambit weapons. The rest just happened over time with playing. You may need to glance at them here and there to to adjust your playstyle but its not bad.

What took the longest was Light vs. Light, by far.

Yeah, the Gambit ones have just happened for me over time. I haven't tried very hard for the ones I have. It was like that for Breakneck. I just looked at the quest one day and saw I was close so I finished it off and got the weapon.

I got protect the runner in a group of randoms the other day, I was like how tf did that happen!

I got the curated Hammerhead, which actually has the perks I wanted. Its' very similar to the best Hammerhead I had forged already with 6,000 kills on it. I sent that one to my Hunter and I'm using the curated one on my Titan. After making more than 20 of those things I'm never doing another one of those. I still need to get a better Tatara Gaze, Spiteful Fang, and Blast Furnace. I got a pretty good sword, which I never use and my Kindled Orchid is also about as good as they get. I would like the curated one, but that's it. So I may make more of those. I won't do swords as I just don't care. Many of the Tatara Gaze rifles I've made are garbage. I get perks like firmly planted and moving target on the same gun.

My problem, not that you could call it that.. is I got lucky with great rolls on my Hammerhead, Blast Furnace and Tatara Gaze very early on. Getting to 100 total forges is a pain when you're not even looking forward to what you're going to get from it.

I thought those had to be earned through triumph completions or something.

Yup. I have all the triumphs for Dredgen, Wayfarer and Blacksmith completed.

If I get the ship the next time Shattered Throne rolls around again, I'll have Cursebreaker too.

A few weeks back someone said something about these Titles on reddit. The intention was for when you earned them, people would think it was pretty cool. Now, they just think you're lucky.

The RNG associated with these titles/badges was overdone. I've run Shattered Throne 3x every week that its been available and no ship.

I've run Shattered Throne many times with no ship either. I think that's all I need for Cursebreaker. I don't think I'm all that close on the other titles.

Top tree Striker Titan w/ Skullfort by chance? That's how we did it. Nicknamed "smashy boy". Shoulder charge everything.

These days I'm all about the Doomfang Pauldrons and the bottom tree Sentinel shield. As long as your killing, your super can be extended indefinitely.

Switching up my game direction to push more Crucible matches to get more what ever drops that I need to turn in 10 to Brother Vance to continue getting the prophecy weapons. Literally grinding out weapons and armor for Mars/Mercury are what is left between me and the Wayfarer medallion. Bleh.

Turns out I really really suck at Crucible rumbles unless I get a decent match up of other shit players. Can't seem to efficiently slay folk with no name hand cannons and auto rifles. May go dive into my repo and see if I have a shotgun of some quality... that or suck it up and just grind out matches to get my materials and bounce.

There are very few hand cannons that I consider worth while for PvP and most are exotics. Ace of Spades, Thorn, The Last Word, Kindled Orchid, Midnight Coup, Better Devils, Luna's Howl, and Not Forgotten come to mind. Every now and then you'll see people using Crimil's Dagger, The Thin Line, and Ten Paces. The latter are OK, I can't stand Crimil's Dagger or any 110 RPM hand cannons. Once in awhile, you'll see people using the Duke MK.44, but I think its absolutely terrible for PvP. The 180 RPM hand cannons like Ikelos and Malfeasance don't generally work well as they don't hit quite hard enough. Malfeasance is weird because its absolutely viable for Gambit invasions but not Crucible. In my opinion anyway.

Auto rifles are generally regarded as absolute shit for Crucible. The reason why is their range, accuracy and time to kill are generally poor for combat against other Guardians. There are a few exceptions that cross over into the useful line, but not many. Tigerspite, Breakneck, Hazard of the Cast, and Cerberus +1 are about all there is that I'd consider remotely useful. One thing these all have in common is that they are generally all 450RPM guns excluding Cerberus +1 which is a 390. The 450RPM guns have the lowest time to kill generally speaking. The 600 and 720 RPM guns are absolute shit for PvP.

Shotgun ranges have been nerfed and fire rates changed. They are still useful in PvP, but generally you can't keep them fed to use as primary weapons. Special Ammo finder perks don't work at all in PvP. The scavenger perks do and anyone who uses a special ammo based weapon will drop it when they die, but not everyone does. So consistency isn't there. Shotguns are still popular, but I would concentrate on a viable primary weapon if I were you. Pulse rifles are a good bet. They have one of the lowest ttk's of any of the weapons commonly found in PvP at range. Scout rifles are generally too weak and carry too little ammunition. Sniper rifles are hard to feed and a high level of skill is required to use them. Perks are super important on them as well. Shotguns are short range only. Bows are often too slow although their ttk is fine. A Hunter with Oathkeepers can make a bow work better than other classes in Crucible, but few are good enough with them to do it. Crucible is dominated by hand cannons and pulse rifles for a reason.

Pulse rifles I'd recommend: Vigilance Wing, Blast Furnace, Wrong Side of Right, Go Figure, and Claws of the Wolf. There are some other good ones but you have to earn them through various quests and hitting legend with your valor range or a higher glory rank in competitive. Finding the right weapon combination that works for you and getting armor with perks that compliment your load out are key. Beyond that, you have to put the time in to improve at Crucible. Destiny 2 is a shooter, but there are a lot of nuances that give it a learning curve.

. Ace of Spades, Thorn, The Last Word, Kindled Orchid, Midnight Coup, Better Devils, Luna's Howl, and Not Forgotten come to mind
Ah.. see I am exotics poor and waaaaay behind the curve on getting them.

Okay so pulse rifles are the game of choice? I'll keep an eye out for those then.

Only some of those are exotics. Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten aren't exotics. They are pinnacle weapons which are achieved through a long grind in competitive PvP and are tied to Glory rank. Kindled Orchid is a Black Armory hand cannon and Midnight Coup comes from the Leviathan Raid If I recall correctly. Ace of Spades, Thorn and The Last Word are all tied to exotic weapon quests. You should have all three quests or you can pick them up again if they've been abandoned. There is a PvP element to getting them, but its worth it. Not only for PvP but for PvE as well.

I can't seem to make any Crucible loadout work apart from Ace/Wishbringer/Hammerhead. I tried The Last Word and Thorn but they just don't feel as easy to snap off headshots. Though, if you're doing that with TLW, you're doing it wrong. I couldn't get into that playstyle though I do agree, TLW is nasty in the right hands up close.

As for Thorn, i really want to love it as its a 150 and my favorite HC archetype in the game but for me, something feels off. More playtime, i guess.

I want to love Thorn too ... because of the grind it took to get it, although if you do it through Iron Banner it goes much faster.

I use The Last Word, Claws of the Wolf, and Hammerhead for my Crucible load out. That's what works best for me. I tend to use The Last Word for Crucible and Thorn or Ace of Spades for PvE content. I've never had much success with Ace in PvP. I've done OK with Thorn in the Crucible, but I do better with The Last Word. In PvE, my load out changes allot, but I normally use Thorn, Ikelos Shotgun, and Hammerhead for the heavy weapon. Occasionally I switch it up when doing certain bounties or when doing Nightfalls. My load out for The Reckoning is usually Breakneck, Ikelos and Hammerhead. Occasionally, I'll use the Wardcliff coil for boss melting. My load out for specific raids depends on the encounter. I use Whisper of the Worm wherever I can. I tend to use pulse rifles for add heavy encounters like the vault where there are some longer sight lines.

At least grab the Ace Of Spades. The quest is easy and rather short, for a really good weapon.

I always try and log in and get the Offering done on full curse week but man, this week is pretty weak. Yo Mara, where have you been?

Anyway, that's 9/11 for the Truth to Power lore book so in 6 weeks I'll have the Chronicler title. Gotta be the easiest title to get but its time gated so it just takes time.

This requires 25 precision kills in the Crucible. When I first started PvP'ing, this wasn't as easy as it sounds. Activities like this will make you get better at it. Just hang in there and you'll get it done eventually. It also helps to find a good hand cannon. I used Better Devils to do mine. That probably made it more difficult as explosive payload sometimes causes precision hits not to register properly.

I was on my way with that, but 25 handcannon precision kills, if I play 8 hours/day for 6 months straight, I might get 1 or 2 kills. If someone looks at me funny in pvp I die, no idea how to kill someone with a handcannon precision kill while they are bunnyhopping, then again I was always pretty bad at PVP.

I actually don't see that much bunny hopping in the Crucible. Really, the best thing to do is follow your team. Hang back and shoot at the same targets they are. Let your teammates strip the enemy guardian shields and then finish them off with shots to the face. Also, unless your at a good distance, do not bother aiming down the sites on the hand cannon in PvP. Eventually, if you play enough you'll get good enough at Crucible that none of this will seem like a big deal.

I hit 700 this week. Finally got the Thorn strike done and got that yesterday. I've had the pvp part done for weeks but was unable to solo that strike. My brother and I 2 manned it though, even though he is only 664 ll on pc with his hunter (he died a lot). Took Thorn for a test drive and it seems like a fun handcannon to me.

I'm still burned out after that Last Hope quest. I've got to do another friggin' grind in the Crucible and be at the mercy of those wild card variables yet again? I'll get it done...eventually.

This.

Also, if you have Crimson, it KINDA helps you with hand cannon precision kills. the natural vertical rise will "assist" you if you aim a bit low, and the 3 round burst is good for damage if you don't blatantly miss. Get the drop on someone and it's not too hard to win the shootout. I consider myself average at best at PvP, and I got it done in a day or two. just use strategy and keep at it. I think I may never get Luna's Howl/Not Forgotten/Redrix without help, or getting way better, but every other PvP related thing I've tried I've done eventually.

It is, though I didn't think so in the beginning. I'm a huge 150 fan. 30k kills on my Midnight Coup so needless to say I was super pumped that Thorn fit in that archetype. Something about it just felt different after using it.

More I use it in PvE though, the more i'm getting the feel for it and the unlimited ammo if you're using it correctly is really awesome.

I'll either use this or stick with Ace when I finally get to it.

I disagree, but that's my experience. I didn't get Crimson until after I already had the Ace of Spades. However, I have tried Crimson in the Crucible and found that unless your close, missing with one or two of the three shots is pretty easy to do. Granted, I rarely ran with hand cannon targeting on my gear so if your setup for hand cannons, then that might help. I wasn't until well after I got Ace.

That's the great thing about this game. All those Exotic and even legendary hand cannons feel a little different even within the same class. The Service Revolver, Ikelos and Malfeasance feel different from each other even though they are all 180's.

Ha, i think they're talking about the Ace quest. :-P

Indeed.

I mean use Crimson to make the PvP portion of AoS easier.

I don't think it does, but it might work for you.

It did for me. I used Crimson to finish off and snipe kills until I got decent enough to head shot without assistance. If you really get used to it, you can follow team mates, throw a grenade, or shoot first, aim in the neck area, and Crimson does the rest. I don't suggest it as a true playstyle, but as a "cheat" for this particular task, it does work if you're willing to go that far.

How do you get this bad boy?

Ahh, i had to look it up but it was a Year 1 weapon you'd get from turning in rank up points with Sloan on Titan. These days, I sure wouldn't be caught dead turning in precious Alkane Dust to her. I only suggested it because its a solid 140 that he can pull from collections being Year 1 and thus static rolls.

That one didn't work particularly well for me.

Got the Oxygen SR3 today. I don't love scout rifles, but this one is pretty good. Now back to focusing on the 21% Delirium in Gambit. I have 11k points so I'm close to resetting my rank and that will be the last piece of it.

LOL... It's going to take me forever to ever get Thorn and Malfeasance if I ever even do. That's a joke. You've got to be kidding me. The Gambit requirements aren't too far out but that Crucible requirement on the other one with the hand cannons? C'mon.

Grinding out paradox stuff in Rumble.. noticed a match with two odd characters.. one just stood where they spawned and fired off at a random direction.. the other always ran to the power ammo generator, and then ran in circles shooting in the air.

Assume bots? Folk there to help someone grind wins?

It's the second or third time I've noticed such shenanigans.

I'm not a fan of scout rifles either, but that one is great for clearing enemies at a distance. The perks on it are why its so good.

Malfeasance probably takes longer than Thorn to get in all honesty. The hardest part about that is the Army of One medal. At the time I started trying for that I never did invasions. While attempting that, it only took me a couple of matches to get it. I developed a taste for invasion after that. So now, I pretty much invade and do little else. I need to do some Gambit where I don't do that because 21% Delirium requires killing envoys and Prime Evils. That's something I never do because I'm always invading and killing other Guardians. I'm at 40% on that I think. I've played a lot of matches to get that far. I need to just concentrate on it and put on a different armor set. On the other hand, I ground out Thorn in just a couple days.

Probably the Perfect Paradox shotgun from the Curse of Osiris campaign? Not sure.
