GTX 1660 (RX580/590 killer) is out

Finally loafed around and put my order in with the Egg. Saving 35ish over amazon even with a gift card balance. *shrug* Oh well. MSI Ventus is on the way.

Awesome! That MSI Ventus looks the nicest out of all of them.
Looks wise? I prefer the Gaming X for sure. But I am a bit of an EVGA fanboy, so its Ultra XC for sure. Although I don't love the price, but a 3 slot won't fit in my case or I would just get the cheap evga.

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

I've had a few Gaming X cards, so the design is kind of old to me.

And I used to be an EVGA-only dude, but I've been branching out more.

The Ventus looks like a more modern design than the others, but of course everyone has their own taste.

I am just happy the Ventus is not 10.5" or bigger. I would dig more fans, but don't have the horizontal space.

I paid $279 at Newegg 2 weeks ago for an MSI Ventus GTX1660ti OC. They still have them if that helps ;)

just installed this on my work computer. so when I need a lil break from work lol
It was $199 so I grabbed it when I was at Microcenter getting the 1TB m.2 drive

work pc has no airflow lol. temps are high but should be fine. those small cases with 1 fan pfft. Take a hammer to the case and say I need a new case. good news all the stuff inside is ok lol? sound legit right? haha
Actually took side cover off and temps dropped a bunch

If the regular 1660 was priced under $180, I could see it being a RX 580 killer. The 1660 TI is too high $ to be the killer this topic title states.
Nvidia could really put a hurting if they priced these right.. but you know that trait called "greed" is too strong

From what I've seen the RX580 goes for about $180~220 depending on the brand and the cheapest GTX1660 is $219. Given the performance difference alone, I still think its far better choice, hence a RX580 killer.

A used RX580 is sub-$125. While I agree that there is little reason to buy a full priced RX580/590, the used market is flush with them and at that price nothing can touch the price/performance. If I start seeing sub-$170 used GTX1660's maybe I'll change my tune.

Same here- and while I'd still look at them first (warranty/service/etc.), I chanced with MSI's 1080Ti Hybrid, and then grabbed a couple of their lower-end cards (a 1050Ti and RX560) because they had the best deal on cards that didn't need external power. Color me impressed.

I was in the market for a mid range card last month. Got an Asrock R570 8gb for $120 AR and it's doing well in my son's pc(7700k @4.8ghz, 32gb pc3000, etc...). He plays fortnite on high settings at 1080p and it gets good fps.
