2080ti 2080 Ownership Club

Been pretty happy with my Aorus RTX 2080, except for something odd. While gaming, the screen randomly switches from the game to the desktop. The game doesn't crash. It's more like if you used ALT-TAB to switch screens. When I click on the minimized game icon, it takes me right back to the game where I was before. Never happened with any other video card I've owned.

Still having an issue with hardware accelerated video. If I run a video that uses hardware accelerated video, I get screen flickering. Its find if I turn off accelerated video. It also works fine if I change the power profile from saving power to max power in the Nvidia control center. I thought maybe I had a bad card or something causing it so I tested using each card individually and didnt have any issues. I also bench marked the hell out of them on their own to make sure they weren't bad and both performed like champs for hours of torture.

I did some more testing yesterday and I think all this trouble is being caused by a bad displayport cable. I tested each card individually and still had flickering. I swapped around some cables and I found that the displayport cable plugged into my secondary monitor wasn't up to spec for 1.4. I couldn't drive my primary monitor with it at 100hz. When I tested only using my primary monitor and using the known good cable, the issue went away, even with both cards installed. I ordered 2 new vesa certified displayport 1.4 cable that should be here tomorrow. I think that will solve the flickering all together.

Great news. Yes, the cable can make a big difference, always a good thing to try.

All this trouble. It was just the stupid cable. I had another one in my cable box and swapped out the bad one. The replacement that is working isn't even Displayport 1.4 rated. I'm going to swap out the 2 with the Vesa rated 8k ones tomorrow anyways.

Well, that's good to hear. Cables, always a point of failure but luckily the easiest/cheapest thing to replace.

Hey everyone. Just got my 2080 in today (fuck the Ti prices btw), and I was curious if anyone who has ordered from Newegg has received their free game codes yet? I chatted with Newegg and they said I should have it in my Digital Library within 24 hours after shipping well it's been over 24 hours and I still don't have them.

How long did yours take?

Got my codes right after the card shipped.

I got mine the same day my card was delivered. The email title was "Newegg - Digital Product Delivery".

Got to tweaking the overclock on the 2080 Ti today.

Now I'm at +135 core, +500 memory, power limit 120%, and custom fan curve.

Seems to be working well, I'm seeing steady clocks in the 1900's and boosting to about 2025 - 2040.

While I should probably play Metro Exodus, I'm actually playing Half-Life 2 Update. Nice to see the game at full max running 166Hz.

Never even heard of Half Life 2 Update. I will have to give that a try. Looks cool. Is it much of an improvement?

Yeah, it looks good. Not a huge improvement, the original still looked nice, but it's worth playing.

Looking to up the power limit on my 2080 ti Seahawk EK. Is there a current vbios you guys and gals recommend to flash the card with?

As far as I know there is no way to up the power through the BIOS anymore, and I would not recommend flashing one from a different card as the power phases can be different and you could potentially kill your card. You'll have to go low tech and do a shunt mod.

So I flashed the FE to the Evga XC version and it worked fine, but was unable to gain RGB control. I can turn off the light with the Evga software, and set it to pulse, but that's it. Is there a way to flash the RGB control chip on there?

I snapped off this before and after pic duo when I got my 2080ti and never posted them. Enjoy!

I have the card running at +130 core and +500 mem with an aggressive fan profile. It's happy there and stays under 65c while gaming. My boost is over 2ghz every time I glance at my G13 screen.. Seems to bounce between 2010 and 2070ish..

New PC for me, I mean my 3 boys, as a Christmas gift. They built it the day after Christmas themselves under my supervision. Since it was for *them*, i splurged on a Gigabyte 2080 OC even though I felt guilty of the cost for a month afterward.

Sorry, but I still cringe every time I see a video card sitting on top of an anti-static bag.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered a EVGA 2080 Ti XC to replace my good old 1080 Ti sli set up. I was going to wait for the inevitable 3080 or whatever next launch will be, but I was able to sell my friend one of my 1080 ti's for $550. I will put my other 1080 in my living room PC. 600$ for the 2080 Ti seems like a nice upgrade. I've been really sad lately as I have always been an SLI user but it seems like SLI days are numbered.... Should be here Thursday. Pretty excited as i'm sure all u guys were!

Awesome! Yeah, SLI is dead to me. Was doing it for a bit, since the GTX 470, but it's not really worth it anymore.

I just received that same 2080ti 2 days ago from the EVGA Step Up program. Great card.

Well, I finally got my new EVGA 2080 Ti via Fedex today. Just opened the box from B&H and u gotta be kidding me. Over 1200$ for a new top of the line card and EVGA has it in a bland plain box, and all that it comes with is the card. Now I can understand not including physical disks anymore, but no stickers, poster, or extra 8 pin connector? Wow, talk about cheaping out. It's bad enough that they jack the prices up on incremental overclocked card variants let along Nvidia's lame price gouging... Ok...Off of my soap box...Time to get this bad boy installed!

Just a quick google has me worried. My card came in a plain brown box. Not the new RTX box I see online. Was this a refurb? Calling EVGA now

YUP-Verifed with EVGA that serial number is an RMA refurb. B&H of course blames EVGA and EVGA says it's B&H's fault. B&H as always is great though. Set up an RMA, and actually upgrade myself to the step up EVGA 2080 Ti with the larger fin stack for 40$ more. B&H payed for next day air. Gotta love that! Was a hard decision though as I almost went with the Zotac AMP for only another 30$ but I have been a loyal EVGA customer for years and there support is top notch!

Sounds like a refurb or b stock. Their retail boxes have a sleeve and documentation/extras.

Edited my post-It was a refurb. Don't know how that happened and how B&H sold as new. All good though. New card should be here tomorrow. Running this Refurb card through it's paces in the mean time. Sotck clocks it's only hitting 1725 though. OC scanner, I keep getting black screens. Gonna try to manual overclock and see how she does. Wondering if I should have went with the Zotac for 60$ more for the larger finstack and triple coolers. There reviews are hit or miss though with bad cards and bad software. We'll see.....
