So I have an Asus Maximus Gene Z390 and for some reason the motherboard won't detect the fans. They get power and they spin but I can't control them at all. Fans are Noctua NF-S12A. They were a lot louder than I expected and I even put the Low-Noise Adapters from Noctua on them. Each fan is plugged into a different 4-Pin on the motherboard. Any idea what could be going on fellas?

Should put this in the Intel motherboard forums. Start a thread there and delete this thread.

Sometimes noise adapters don't pass through PWM. Try switching to DC or removing the Low Noise Adapter.

If they are loud it's because they're runnin @ 100%. Maybe that board is having issues and needs a bios update? Really unlikely that every fan is defective.

I used the fan with and without the Low-Noise Adapters and still no dice.

Have you tried other fans and made sure than the motherboard is using PWM, you're using the right fan profiles, and so forth?

Haven't tried using other fans. I set the profiles but it doesn't detect the fans anyways.

I'm using the latest BIOS.

Agree with kwaz, see if it does fine with other fans. If it acts the same it's likely a mobo issue not the fans.

does that board have the option to switch between dc/pwm? it might be on dc at 100%

huh. tried fiddling with the setting see if acts any differently? adapter is still off right? pretty sure fvfx is right that they change them to just dc at 7v.

I assumed on a high-end board they all would be PWM headers. Dead silent now though. I kept the Low-Noise Adapters too.
