I have an old Dell 8 7840 tablet with a beautiful OLED screen but a not so beautiful android version of... 6.0?

I can pay 50 bucks to get it fixed (charge port) or say spend 50 bucks on some cheap Fire Tablet.

I only ever used this thing for videos and Twitch.tv streaming. Is there a reason 6.0 (might even be 5.0) can't do that anymore? Do apps eventually drop support entirely?

Its looks like a Fire HD is 80 bucks for an 1200x800 screen thats gotta be... terrible.

Tablet os updates aren’t as common. They seem to be supported less than phones and have a quicker EOL. That said, it’s not like you are doing anything requiring high security.

I still use a 2 year old Asus tablet that has nice hardware but is stuck on 5.0.

All I do is watch twitch anyways. You’d be fine.

that's because you are using the wrong OS :p

All of my Dell Windows tablets are up to date and still functional except for an Dell Venue 11 (atom powered) one that died.... Most of these are 2014 tablets

until YT and whatnot no longer work, yeah you can use it.

Insomniator I know what you mean with these kind of things. If they do the job you bought them for then getting a new one isn't always the path you want to take.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" 2014 edition with an early Octa-Core and a 1440p display. It was actually released Nov. 2013 as Samsung was trying to release before the next Ipad of the time. In it's own way a piece of history and honestly there's very few options new tablets have that it doesn't. Battery stopped holding a charge a few months back and I ordered one from Amazon. Looked and fit just right but the ribbon connector was a few mm too long. I didn't think anything of it until I 'forced' it to bend and connect to the tablet MB. It promptly broke the connector right off the MB. I considered getting a new tablet but a local shop was able to re-solder the connector for ~$100, the Amazon seller happily refunded the ~$40-50 I paid so ultimately was only out ~$60 for the experience. Good news is that the tablet is happily running again and rocking like the champ it is.

I have an old acer tablet with 5.5 on it i think it is.
works perfect for my netlifx and web browsing and some casual gamming ( even thoug its abit laggy sometimes)
