Hello

a friend of a friend says he has an Asus Strix Z270I motherboard for sale for $100. He claims that it works fine with 3 broken pins but only dimm 2 works....he sent me a pic of the 3 broken pins in the cpu socket along the right side half way down. I was thinking of getting it and putting a 7700K in it but do know.

Is it worth the risk?

They're all DDR pins so he's probably telling the truth. I repair these and I'll tell you that I would personally not pay $100 for a partially functional mobo.

you can find the pinnout of the socket if you are curious on exactly what the missing pins do. a good deal of the pins are redundant power and ground pins however there are also quite a few dedicated to the memory. I would assume at least some of the broken pins are dedicated to the memory. i have a board that lost a memory slot due to broken pins. it had no stability issues.

your friend is not a friend....hes a duchebag just trying to rip you off selling a motherboard with missing pins for 100 dollars?...tell him to go suck a big one!! its worth about 10 bucks in my book tops
