$999 EVGA 2080ti Black Edition: A good deal?

I am just wondering. I've been waiting for it to go back in stock and it still not in stock and i'm getting impatient. I already have one but I want another one for NVLINK reasons. Is it possible to pair this with a different card let's say with an XC ultra?

Some cards you can, but not the ultra I'm sure it has a taller PCB so that wouldn't work.
I'm pretty sure the XC Gaming would work as it has the same PCB and heatsink as the black.

Just a data point, it's in stock at my local MicroCenter for $1019.99, just $20 higher. If somebody's tired of waiting for the EVGA in-stock email and has a MC near you might want to check.

Yeah, He put it up and eventually sold it for $1150. Again, I can't blame him for that. I've got my auto notify set for EVGA's website so I will give it a few weeks before I throw my hands up and buy a founders edition.

Still waiting on a sale for the AW3418DW https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/ali...8dw/apd/210-amsv/monitors-monitor-accessories that I just missed the sale on as well.

It you are still looking :)

I'm waiting for UPS to deliver my EVGA Hybrid cooler which I will slap into the 2080 Ti Black Edition. I'll post results but I'm pretty sure it'll just be power limited.

Flashing a bios is pretty easy.

Flashing a bios is pretty easy.

AFAIK, you can’t flash a higher power BIOS on this card because it’s a 300 chip instead of a 300A chip.

Anyways I installed the cooler and it did improve performance, it now sustains between 1,920-2,100Mhz speeds under load. Same OC Scanner overlock. So about 100Mhz faster. Looks like Turing enforces a temperature curve. It netted me a 4% performance improvement and the card now benchmarks as fast as an overclocked XC Ultra I had before that’s $300 faster.

The only problem is the EVGA Hybrid pump is loud as fuck. I ordered a cable to connect it straight to the motherboard and reduce its speed. It’s ridiculous how EVGA runs the pump at full speed forcing you to mod it.

So I haven't had all that much time to tinker with mine. Are people over or under volting the 2080 Ti's when overclocking?

feels good

Nice! How hard was it to fit the GPU into that case?
I had a 980ti with an accelero III so after I removed the bottom 25mm fans it was super easy. I'd say it was easier to install than the 980ti + accelero for sure.

Is it still worth buying at this point? I currently have a [email protected] 1080Ti and game @ 4k.

Was thinking of buying a better display and waiting it out until the next gen to upgrade my whole system rather than doing it piecemeal.

if you game at 4k and you can afford it, the 2080Ti is the best card out there.

1080 Ti is still fine for 4K, provided you tweak settings in some games.

If you really want a no compromise experience, then the 2080 Ti will do that.

But honestly the 1080 Ti is still good if you want to wait for a full build.

I gave in and bought one late last night.

I was considering going SLI but I might as well just buy this and sell my 1080ti since they’re going for premium price now anyways.

Righto. Once the itch starts, well, there's only one thing to do, lol.

No, SLI is not worth it anymore. Good to sell the 1080 Ti while value is still good.

I’ll end up selling the 1080ti here anyways because I don’t want to deal with eBay on such a high priced item. I don’t really trust that something won’t go wrong- someone will claim it arrived broken, broke months later, etc, etc.

Yeah, I've been selling here on the forum recently. You don't get as high a sale price as ebay, but then you don't get the fees either, or all the shady people on ebay.

I sold a Titan X Pascal on ebay last year and the first 2 buyers won the auction and then sent me some story how they couldn't pay. The 3rd auction did sell okay though.

I get a lot of “will you hold it until I get paid”? I tend to think a lot of bidders are kids who never had the money to begin with.

I want my card! EVGA requires an adult signature and at least one delivery attempt before you can pick it up. Easier just to have it diverted to a UPS store first try.

At least I get 3 games with it. Probably sell BF V and Anthem. Metro is the only one that I'll probably play. Have a huge backlog.

Metro looks quite stunning on the 2080Ti with all the settings turned on.

That's why I said I'll probably sell the other 2 games. I liked the last 2 Metros anyways, and BF V and Anthem didn't get such great reviews.

Just wanted to report that this is a great card to put under water. With EVGA's hybrid cooler, I manage to keep it under 69c at all times and with NVIDIA auto OC curve and RAM at +1000, the speeds stay between 1950mhz and 2030mhz. Runs very quiet.

So I ended up spending $1,170 without taxes (GPU + hybrid kit) and it runs faster and quieter than a much more expensive 2080 Ti, for less $.

The memory on these cards can easily be boosted >1000. After I hit ~900 I saw diminishing returns.

On air I was able to boost the core ~250.

Haven't played a long time with it yet, I'll have really used it much. I'm fairly satisfied with it. My system overall has always been a relatively poor performer for some reason. I have a 5820k @ 4.3GHz and it's relatively slow compared to other equivalent setups in most benchmarks. I think it's the motherboard. MSI X99A Sli Plus.

At least most games are fairly playable at 4k now.

Eh. I'll upgrade to a new CPU when the next gen Intel chips arrive. It's time anyways.
