Radeon VII Owner's Club!

Yes, Vega 64 to Radeon VII was a nice upgrade.

In my case, I was running Vega 64 Crossfire, because 1 Vega was not good enough for 4K. However it was a mistake.

After upgrading to Radeon VII, I realized that Crossfire had been causing stuttering issues the whole time (even while FPS stats looked good).

VII is so much smoother and actually works in 4K on Ultra sometimes, or at least High settings in a lot of games.

If you're going AMD then Radeon VII is a great pick. I'd even go as far to say that it is better than 1080 Ti or Titan X Pascal (both of which I've had).

At least with this FreeSync TV it works out great. When I had Nvidia on the TV it was without adaptive sync, so that makes a big difference.

I've owned GTX 1080ti for close year, I heard Samsung had freesync in there TVs, I went 75" 4k.

I played BF1,BF5 on PC with both card's, I like Radeon VII, seems smoother and freesync makes it smooth.

Last Amd card was Amd 6970. And it's cool owning 7nm card.

Freesync TV+Radeon VII makes it worthwhile investment.

I'm happy overall, I'm going watercool custom loop, I'm getting older and lifes busy for me, I haven't been able play on PC as I'd like too.

I most been on xbox1x lately. I do love 1440p 120hz on TV, gaming on 75" might sound extreme.

Games are like real life and you play for hour, end up playing for 6 hours lol. Its blast, I do enjoy 4k I also like 1440p 120hz too

I played some Division 2 at 1440p on my 55” 6-7’ away. I can’t see the difference between 1440p and 4k at that distance so I just run it at the lower res and jack the settings. Looks beautiful. This card does great.

I do like playing these games on my tv and an xbox remote... I can stand. I sit enough infront of a monitor at work.

Some of the Samsung 2018 models support VRR as well.

the 2018

The some of the Samsung 2018 models support VRR as well.

That is what we are talking about. We have the Samsung NU8K series (he has the 75", I went 65" since the viewing distance for a 75" would result in head turning etc) and the fact you get 4K60hz, 120/1440P120hz with FreeSync is incredible. If you use the 1080P/120, the VRR range is insane, like 20~120hz, and you get perfect integer scaling, where 1 pxiel outputted by the GPU maps to 4 physical pixels on the TV/panel itself.

These sets have less then 9ms of input lag @ 1080/1440P, which is better then the $700 32" 144hz LCD I was going to buy. I instead opted to spend $899 on a 65" home gaming theater. RAdeon VII with a GPU block, coupled with my Zen2 upgrade is going to kick ass!

Just ordered the Alphacool block...I would much prefer the look the of M01 block they made for the 56/64 but I am tired of waiting and want to reassemble my main rig. It's sad that the exact few seconds it takes for something to open on this system is bugging me lol. Well that and the fact that I cannot really game with it since I have no games installed and it would be beyond a bottleneck.

I ordered from AMD direct and got the other 2 codes first (Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5 and I think the last one was Division 2, in order of their release dates).

It was done on Amdrewards.com

Did they send you an email with the "activation" code (to get your amdrewards.com account setup) or was there something in the box? I have no gotten them with my AMD.com card and support is crickets...I just got an invoice in the box but no game codes like I did with my others.

I got my code, it was sneakily embedded in my order confirmation email for the Radeon VII.

It took two days for the Division 2 and I am going on four or five days for the other two games...

Thanks. I cannot even find that email for some reason, but I have a hard copy of my invoice in my hand. AMD really botched the code rollouts when you add in the fact that every GPU and even the 2K Ryzen cpus are getting at least one code.

What Dayaks said. I happened to be looking over the receipt to see if they charged me tax and noticed the line item included a code for the AMDrewards - so I went over and punched that in and setup the account. At the time only one game was available so I could only activate that one, but as each was released, I got an email and followed the instructions in that.

FWIW - I tried to setup an account with my throwaway Hotmail account and it wouldn't activate properly. For whatever reason, when you finish setting up the account its supposed to send an account activation email that I never could get. Not in the spam folder or anywhere else that I could find.

Switched to another email addy and it worked then. /shrug

hmm let me check my PDF save of my order...You guys might have saved me!. Oh wait, FFS...Taht save is on my NVME drive in my main rig that is torn apart waiting for that new GPU block :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Well the site checks to make sure you have qualifing hardware installed... because they like to make it hard. So it can’t be on just any rig when you put the code in (but it can be afterwards.)

I have my code (Came in Order Confirmation e-mail) but apparently my AMD rewards account I used to claim Prey & Wolfenstein 2 is no longer valid.
I reached out to support this past weekend and noticed the 5-6 days behind warning.

Hopefully I'll see something by end of week and clear up whatever the issue is.

Just gives me more time to change my mind on keeping the games, still unsure.
If I could get $75 for the lot, I'd probably sell the code.

I got screwed out of 4 Prey and Wolf 2 code cards from NE. Still bitter about that but the cards made me a lot of money so I guess it was not a terrible thing. I have never gotten to play Wolf2 though because of it. I guess I will buy it and I can play it at 120hz+ at 1440P :-D.

On day 7. Still no code. We are out of food and running short on water. I’ve requested help from AMD but no response. This may be my last transmission batteries are ge.... ttttsszzz. Ssss

Did you update the bios to the latest version?
Yes I updated the bios twice on my card. Now at 1.06. Reduced fan noise somewhat. I could not get a significant stable overclock. Under volting is fine but can't overclock the memory for s--t and the gpu only slightly.

That air cooler isn’t really made for OCing imo. It’s perfectly fine for stock. I had to bump voltage 0.1V to hit 1950 core on air and fans basically maxed.

I also used the power table registry edit, but that’s more useful for watercooling OCing.

Okay but be a bit realistic here. What are you expecting to get out of your overclocking?
Is it for a few fps or just numbers on a benchmark ?

You might also want keep in mind is that your Radeon VII might be the one that barely made the cut, I know this is unpopular and not something you like to hear.

Have you checked your temperature that is one of the biggest problems. You could leave the fans on for a good 5 minutes (or longer) on full speed and see what you can achieve then, that will make it easier to find out if you find it worth the trouble of getting higher clocks.

Does anybody offer an AIO gpu kit for Radeon VII?? I had an Eiswolf aio for my Vega 56. But I sold the card with the aio a few months ago and it isn't suitable for Radeon Vii anyway.

I've been looking and reading forums, I believe Someone's making Radeon VII AIO Cooler, I've seen people doing NZXT G12 and H50H55 on youtube and Forums.

Thanks for the heads up! Block and back plate order :)

Edit: Website states shipping will start around April 1st.

Np! Glad i Could help out!

I thought i would aks ya, your ordering Radeon VII WB/Back Plate

I'm looking into custom loop, Everything came to $600-$750 shipped, I went on amazon i figured that good kit, Its all copper Rad,Cpu WB, Looked up EKWB P 360 Kit, extra 240m Rad, Plus Extra box Tubing, + EKWB Radeon VII WB / Back Plate, Is it really worth it? Its big 1 time cost, but $600-$750 sound about right?

I went EKWB website with cost hitting $800 alittle more, I dont want pay Customs Fee's With Total being $800, I'd have pay.

“Worth it” is an opinion but I can say I’ve been using the same equipment for about 6 years now besides buying new blocks. And I am cheap, my resevoir is a $10, 12 gallon tote from Home Depot. Got a used 9x140 rad for $200 off this forum... I buy hose from Home Depot. Hehehe

The blocks and fittings for the blocks are from EK or likewise but all my other fittings are from Home Depot.

To me it is worth it, and yes the initial cost is high. I have been using the same rads, pump, rez and fittings sense 2014, only thing I change now is CPU/GPU block. I buy straight from EK only when the block is a new release and I want it asap. Typically I use this website, http://www.performance-pcs.com/ with good results.

Look at the equipment in my sig rig...I paid $100 new for the 360mm (it's a great design that kept a 1600@ 4.1Ghx and a pair of RX. EGAs under 40C on it's own). I use compression fittings I bought used for a set of 12, here on [H] for $45 shipped, my 420mm rad with 3 EK Vadar fans (they are $20+ each new). I purchased here again for $105 shipped. My EK pump/res combo cost me $150 new with a 3 year replacement plan from Microcenter. My CPU block was $65 new (in 2014). And I've used it since.

So if shop around, you can save a LOT of money. Just buy all copper rads/blocks (nickel plated is okay as well) from a seller with a good Heatware and you are good.

I am just frustrated
]
I have felt the pain also and since there is a remote chance my experience might help, here it is...

I decided to build a x399 Threadripper 2990wx compute beast to dual boot Windows, Linux, and run lots of VMs and Docker instances.
I chose the Asus Zenith Extreme Alpha (I really like Asus EFI, overclock fine-grained options, and quality so I winced once at the price and did it) and 128GB of Corsair Vengeance 3000. My first several installs of Win 10 Pro were inoperable: blue screen at first boot after install. Consistently...Vexingly...

But I kept a record of every error and a pattern emerged: Bugcode NDIS Error appears a few times.
After a bit of web searching I was able to figure it was perhaps a network driver issue. I disabled 10G LAN, WiFi, and Bluetooth and just left basic LAN on in the EFI. Windows installed fine, I inserted the usb-drive Asus put all the drivers on (nice touch), and all worked great. My guess is stock windows WiFi, BT, or fast Ethernet drivers have different interrupt vectors or code that is mismatched to the hardware Asus chose (or the addresses for interrupt vectors they chose).

I can tell you Asus Tech Support on chat and phone had no clue and told me to RMA the CPU LOL. So I solved it on my own and the detailed cause will remain a mystery.

I don't know if I helped but the lesson for me was to take screen shots with my phone on every "hiccup" and think them over a bit. Maybe it will help you in some way. I hope so. Good luck.

I've have added a Sapphire Radeon VII "second-gen": I call it "second-gen" because it came with EFI installed unlike the first version fo the VII.
I did a little stock testing with RAM at 2966 and it was only beaten by Cinebench by Xeons and Epyx systems.

So far so good...once I water cool it, we'll see if I won the silicon lottery on the GPU and CPU.
The reason for water cooling is not just to OC: I only like to wear my hearing protection at the range, not in my office and those fans are loud on OC. I think a Huey is quieter ;-)

Any of you guys play Devil May Cry 5? For some reason it’s in like slow motion. I tried both 60fps and variable that supposively helped DMC4 from threads I read. It’s really weird.

Do you have Chill enabled? That can cause slow performance.

Nope. I’ll just give it a few months. I think I am too old for the demographic for that game anyways.

On postive side I noticed I get my Bykski waterblock today.

Does anyone know if the VII still supports xfire? I'm half tempted to get another one and fire it up just to see what happens.

Even when supported, which it’s not, that’s a terrible idea. ;)
