BioWare Warns Hostile Replies Make Developers Less Likely to Engage

I don't think they should be spending a second doing anything but finishing that mess of a game.

While I enjoyed the game (pre/post-launch) it worked about 80% of the time without issues, but... Some of those issues were game/instance breaking, sometimes we couldn't rez down teammates, other times events wouldn't progress. Some of the missions requiring collecting echos, fuel containers, items... We just could not pick them up. Additionally, there was a lot of connection issues and combine that with the loading time for people on 5400rpm HDs and we would be more than halfway through a level before they would start contributing.

The only other real issue I did not like about the game, is where the story took place. I could have done without the whole walking slowly around town picking and turning in quests.

I'd just like to say be nice or the consumers will stop buying to the developers that happen to be sucking. The developers would probably be hearing better words and nicer feedback if their products were good in the first place. That said it must be a really tough job for a developer to be paid to not care about the games they produce. Sorry community we will not be answering anymore questions until further notice as we have collected our bags of money already from our game released and rushed 3 months earlier than scheduled "as is" in all it's broken unfinished unrefined glory.

lol, are being serious right now? So socialism/communism would produce better games? Or perhaps a new unicorn economy made from a fake vocabulary word salad like mmt?

No that is what happened to SWTOR as well if you don't believe me ask around same problems same launch. They simply say were out of money we need to launch to get another injection of cash it is the easy way out.

And yes when you have gamed on C64 Amiga Gameboy Megadrive(Genisys) Snes you never encountered these severe and structural problems until public traded companies starting messing about. You need a run down on how much money the likes of EA and UBISOFT make , they fire people even if there making record profits . They buy competing game developers then they axe everyone of that studio that ever did something right and declare it was not manageable. Microsoft as well their take overs are so bad.

Instead of taking some keywords what I said and read the whole thing maybe you start to understand that the way it is ran is unsustainable for the games industry and it may even be the axe for Bioware.

This is nothing new, they got rid of their forums a few years ago because they were tired of hearing what their customers thought and wanted to limit feedback to 140 characters or less with the ability to easily mute anything negative. It's human nature to stick your head in the sand when you don't like what you're hearing but it isn't going to help them solve the very real problems they face due to short term thinking.

It's also extremely hypocritical of them to accuse their customers of being toxic while in same breath making arrogant and dismissive negative comments about the customers who are paying their wages.

If you wanna see something funny check out the forums on bungie, and then compare that to the reddit for destiny. The bungie forums are straight up filled with players critisizing all of the things that they would like to see improved. Whereas reddit, which is grossly censored, is simply kind words and the occasional gripe. Its as if there are 2 different Destiny 2 games that neither community is aware of. I for one appreciate that bungie doesn't censor their forums and moderate them into the dirt. It shows that they can at least acknowledge their shortcomings, whereas other studios simply look the other way.

Actually they see their obligation and their payment from the rise and fall of their stocks. Why else would they deliver product(s) in such a sad state to the consumers ?

They have programs to hype their content and the bean counters prolly say that it allows them to sell more (EA game changers), Why would you need those programs if your game(s) is(are) good to begin with ?

The bean counters are probably right that a crappy game with good marketing will sell better than a good game with crappy marketing, however that only works until people get tired of being burned buying crap games based on slick marketing.

I tend to agree with the idea that the industry is headed towards another crash except that it will mainly just be the mega publishers that implode under their own weight and past bad decisions.

EA's bean counters need to be fired. All the marketing in the world lead to BFV selling well under expectations, leading EA's stock to plummet. While its too early to say for sure, I'd be surprised to see Anthem even get close to EA's 6m in 6 weeks expectations.

Blaming customers for your failures to provide them a product or service that meets their expectations are signs that you have no idea what your customers want in the first place.

this is true for life in general...'you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar'

EA likes to use the bucket of shit method, you catch all the flies then. They rather should be trying to catch customers instead of wasting time with flies.

This hearkens to the line of "Don't you guys have cellphones?!?!?" Being completely obtuse and unwilling to listen to fans makes us grumpy. The only AAA developer I care to hear about is CDPR. EA, Activision, even bungie can kiss my ass.

Maybe i've become an old grumpy guy and it's time for a new hobby.

Nah, there are great games from the past that would last you a couple of lifetimes. There is no reason to keep buying crap.

They managed to crash consoles, come on, people will be angry if you crash and damage their hardware with your software.

I've never used Reddit because I have always heard that it was over moderated.

It's been a vicious cycle for years. Bioware does something bone headed dumb. Community complains. After a while of making bad decisions, bioware sees a toxic community where nothing seems to make them happy. So they ignore the community. Community raised legitimate concerns, Bioware just sees toxic whining.

It's all downhill. Somebody needs to become a grown-up. But it's hard for the community, because the community is a diverse mix of grownups with bratty kids (some of those being 30+).

If this means EA dies faster? i'm all for it. Let it burn. all of it.

Diablo didn’t release with the wooden starter sword being as good if not better , of a weapon than epic drops.

The obvious lack of real testing and Q/A this game has had with so many bugs has earned them the shit they are getting.

You choose to work for a shitty company that is getting worse every year ?

You deserve the blowback.

Quit and go make your own games as an indie dev if you want patience and understanding.

Release a half baked game while getting paid by EA and Bethesda ? Then stop whining about getting flak.

I have 2 thoughts on this;
1) If you keep releasing bad games, and games that do not align with what a studio is know for (choose your own adventure RPGs), then the fans tend to get upset...
2) You mean to say that they have the developers stopping from development to respond to posts? This is a large multi-million dollar company... surely they have PR people on staff whose job it is to do things like community management...

Hey, maybe everyone is right and the social media stooge should jsut shut the fuck up and not stir the pot.

Yes, engaging with pissed off fans isn't fun.

Yes, the fans have a reason for being pissed off.

Yes, the likely 100% correct answer is the devs should be busy coding fixes and not trying to do damage control on social media.

The only missing element is telling the guy throwing gasoline on the fire to STFU and stick to telling folks they are fixing what is clearly broken, and working on finding the right balance between what the game does and what the fan base would like it to do.

Or you know.. he could double down and just publicly post "fuck you we already have your money, I can't wait till they bury you in shitty loot crates when your $60 game goes FTP you fucking idiots!" I'm sure that might help.
