Battlefield V

I have no interest in the battle royale mode. It will just splinter the player base from the real modes. TDM/domination is also near impossible to find as of a month ago. I haven't even played in a month and I assume those modes are ready. It started becoming such a chore to unlock new weapons and they force you into doing tasks you have no interest in doing to get new stuff. Clearly they intend on getting people to pay for unlocks. And I've barely touched Conquest (it sucked) and can't imagine how hard it will be to level up the vehicles.

I wouldn't mind giving it a go but the game will probably be dead soon.

I do like how active the Chat is in this game just because all you need to do is press the Enter key and type some BS in. The airplanes in this game sound amazing they just Roar over you kinda like the Hellfire strikes planes in COD but with that old engine sound. Basically you can hide in this game wherever you want and just wait it out or look for something to do.

I hope this is true, I really want solo and duos. also vehicles are going to be crazy and v1 rockets?! now I'm getting hyped. not sure if I like weapon and armor tiers since it brings in more rng luck. if they make all these things work together this could be amazing.

i play tdm most every evening. on the east coast there are usually 4 servers pretty full of tdm. hell i have never played anything else besides tdm since bf3

Looks pretty interesting to me! Love the battle royale genre so I’m excited to try it out.

When do we get to play it?

So this is why we have few maps, few weapons, jump out of airplanes as Germans dressed as Brits. Go battlefield!

Yeah. Like I said. This is where the resources have been going. Not the main game. The br has been the focus.

no release date except sometime late this month

it was said in sept Criterion game studio is making the firestorm mode. what could have happened is ea stretched dice thin with other projects.

Like anthem. Which still isn't much either. Just maddening. Not just ea but they are certainly fully shitting the bed here. Gaming in general is bad these days. Just a sad old man wishing for the old days of bf2 twl and Cal ladders and daily scrimmages and matches. When we had server control and could mod the damn game. Get off my lawn!

indeed those were the days. I remember twl scrims in bf2.

Rush is fucking terrible, how dis Dice manage to fuck up yet another aspect of the game??? I am back to thinking EA told Dice to fuck BF over so bad that no one will want to play another one.

Yeah Rush to Hamburger Hill...

The new "rush" is 32 player break through, I may be wrong, but I think most people were expecting more of a metro style rush.

Edit: I sort rant about cheaters, on the brightside there have been quite a bit less of them.

Thanks to Rush mode i have all my shotguns golden now! It's been fun running around blasting people in the face. You can mow down 5-10 people every time without them realizing you're amongst them lol

I don’t understand. How so I play the Battle of Hannut? What operation/map is it? I don’t know how to find this content.

That BF5 trailer for Firestorm that IGN just dropped was fucking incredible. Looked awesome lol.

Holy shit. Maybe this will actually make up for the lack of content. This looks incredible. I hope the gameplay retains some of the humor seen in this trailer.

that trailer was good. tractor is hilarious. march 25. I feel like tanks are gonna be OP. you get one guy in the tank and your 3 team mates covering him. map looks like it has alot of variety with the dam and snow. so no matter what color clothes you're wearing you wont blend into everything.

firestorm gameplay trailer

jackfrags gameplay video actually has more views, lol

Firestorm does look fun. I’m done with the BR genre (it was short-lived for me) but this might bring me back.

Looking fantastic. I never really played any battle royale games because I'm salty on the whole "everything has to be battle royale now" trend. But I'll definitely give this a shot. Anything to get out of playing the same damn handful of maps for the billionth time.

It's an interesting take on BR. I like how they've added a bit of conquest objectives in the map. If you take a capture point, you get loot. Pretty cool stuff. I don't know too much about what's going on, only did two rounds. Seems fun!

Needs more players though as rounds took roughly 60 to 90 seconds to get in game.

Patience, young Padawan. The work day is still in progress in the US.

You can definitely tell they put all their efforts into this mode, way before the core version of BFV.

Runs so buttery smooth, and looks amazing. Had a few good rounds.

Does a BR mode belong inside of Battlefield?

The truth is, I don’t know. IMHO, Battlefield has always been the go to game for action from all angles on a fast paced basis. From gunships, to infantry, tanks and air combat, Battlefield is in my opinion, the best in the industry to supplement all of these into one battle and consistently. As a Battlefield 1942 player from the start, like most of us on hardforum, I can honestly say the franchise has dwindled down from its peak years of glory. Map sizes feel smaller, air combat feels far more limited in terms of space and availability,to limited customizations and more.

I remember pummeling houses to smithereens just to take out a soldier or two, and it was awesome. Now, I’m limited to ammo in my tank, multiple sneaky tactics from foot soldiers to take me out as soon as I’m in a town, to having a one chance per 15 minute interval to acquire that awesome B-52 bomber(or any plane that is), to playing on only a handful of maps, it only stays fun for so long…..

Now that Firestorm is here, and yes, only my 15th or so round in so far, I can say that I’m a fan, and also not a fan. It’s a shame that Battle Royale modes have blown up so much, that Battlefield itself has to rely on it to make a buck or two. Battle Royale is for those whom I feel never fully experienced a true and gritty MP game in any of the Battlefield games. In pretty much any 64 player battlefield pub match, you’ll most ALWAYS find more action and explosions than any BR game out there, including BFV’s own Firestorm. Item looting is really clunky to start, as I’m sure they’ll fix immediately. Big blocks of loot boxes pouring out of crates, dead bodies and more just doesn’t really set the tone of the usual BR game modes we’ve all played. It takes time to loot, and it’s kind of annoying.

Loot is everywhere that you’d expect it - Inside houses/barns, on the side of a broken down truck, on top of water towers, etc… It’s all fun and such, for a BR game, but the Battlefield spirit is gone here. Why does Battlefield, a game known for its obnoxious amount of crazy action in the air, on foot or from a tank BOW to such a mode? I feel that Battlefield is above this game mode in terms of practically everything we know about the two.

I’ll continue to play Firestorm for who knows how long, but I don’t ever see myself having as much fun as any of the Battlefield games conquests modes.

6/10 for now - Firestorm.

Add me on origin, @drguru

Firestorm is hilarious. First match... Dropped beside the enemy just like in the trailer and frantically hunted for loot. Ended up knifing a guy. Found a gun, depleted its ammo, then some dude with a knife starts chasing after me. It's just me and him and I can't find matching ammo for my gun so he's just chasing me around through various buildings, up and down stairs, jumping through windows, and I'm just cracking up. It went on for a good 3 minutes until I finally found a gun with ammo and killed him.

I tried taking a guy out with a machine gun at a considerable distance....little did I know he had a Kar98.....Big mistake :(

But I like that, not knowing what the other players have at their disposal, makes it a more tactical experience imo.
