I'm looking for a secondary setup for couch gaming.

My current quality setup on my main rig is a DAC/properly amped Senheiser HD800 + a Marantz USB mic on a boom arm.

I'm not looking to duplicate the setup, but rather get something withing 80% of that setup quality where my friends can hear me and not every button press of the controller nor hear my wife's random comments as she likes to troll me while I'm gaming.

So decent sound, decent mic with some sort of sound isolation (in line/on headphone control is a nice touch) and reasonable cost if possible based on your experience.

Any recommendations?

I have some Beyerdynamic MMX300s and I think they pretty much fit the bill for what you are looking for.

I used to game on some Sennheiser HD 650s and a Blue Yeti mic. The mic on the MMX 300 is way more suited for gaming and still sounds great. Now people hear only my voice and not the keyboard, case fans etc.

The isolation with these headphones is fantastic. Even if I have fans ramped up to run some overclocks, I don't hear it and neither to others through the mic. Sound quality is really nice for a closed back "gaming" headset in my opinion.

They also come with two separate cords. One with a 3 pole 3.5mm and one that has a 3.5mm for mic and a separate one for the headphones. They both have an in line volume control and mic mute switch.

Also comes with a nice case if you want to put them away when you are done using them.

Long time reader, first time poster. Will second the recommendation for SADES. I, personally, use discrete units but I'm getting my son into PC gaming and I recently got him a headset from canada computers and I was thoroughly impressed. They feel cheap, but they're very light and they sound reasonably good (both microphone and drivers).
